Could one quirky comedy actor have had a completely different career had he starred in "Donnie Darko"? You may be surprised how much can change when an actor turns down a role.

This list is inaccurate because most of the people on this list have still had successful careers afterwards. Maybe not _film_ careers, but they’re doing very well on the small screen.

Not only that, it also is claiming that the roles they were recast from triggered successes for their replacements. Just as easily, the films could have tanked. The replacements cast simply did good good jobs and therefore earned their place in hollywood

@COMPFUNK2 It's just that the titel is 'Actors Whose Careers Were Never The Same After Being Replaced'. So your argument has no ground. @rtyler1869 would've/could've/should've. That's a bit of a disservice to Jason Schwartzman. He doesn't have as big of a career as Gyllenhaal, but he's become a Wes Anderson regular, and most audiences will know him as Gideon from Scott Pilgrim. So him leaving Donnie Darko didn't harm his career as much as they think it did

As for Applegate, I always thought her not doing Legally Blonde was a great move as, those films she was in before, were dangerously close to cementing her as a typecast. Her work as Kelly Bundy was far more clever that perhaps some give her credit for. Also, in her later films and TV she's done really well .... just think Anchorman

Janet Hubert and Will Smith both discussed the real reasons behind her being fired from The Fresh Prince in the recent reunion special the cast did for HBO. She was a pregnant actress having a volatile home life that was exacerbated by Will's less-than-professional on-set demeanor (which no one would intervene on her behalf about, because he was the star) and she got painted as a downer by the cast and then let go. I thought for sure this video would be a year old when I checked because the real context was totally missing. But no, this video is less than a week old. 😕

You got the very first one very wrong. Why paint it that way? Howard wanted to be paid the same as RDJ. His pay was not "cut". Marvel refused to pay him the same as RDJ who was a far more seasoned and known actor, as well as the headliner for the movie. He wouldn't accept their reasonable pay offer so they fired him.
