“The Underground Railroad” breakout star Thuso Mbedu revealed that she asked for a personal trainer to help build her endurance for the show, since the drama is action-packed and required a lot of running. The actress also shared what it was like the first time she saw herself on a huge billboard in Hollywood!

After watching this interview, I feel so inspired to believe in my singing voice and actually try it out. I've been doubting myself, I never sing in front of people. I'm so concerned of what if people don't like it or even me. Thuso is an example to me that my dreams are valid and that nothing is impossible. So proud of Thuso 🥺❤🇿🇦

I am from Lesotho a small country in South Africa just like Swaziland we are land locked inside South Africa. I spend the last 45 yrs in California after we had to leave in 1969. Its so great to see people from my part of the world on the big stage. I lived and worked in Hollywood and lived with fanous stars like Al Jarreau, Alan and Robin Thicke as well as my friends managinh actors Will Smith and Halle Berri. I truly feel that it is not just South Africa's time but Africa's time.
