I used a Braumeister 20l for many years. The quality build is excellent. Unfortunately, the technology did not keep up with the competition and Speidel was not very interested to listen to homebrewers' needs. Customer service is quite slow as well but considering buying it from GEB should fix this issue. For the price point, it should offer way more like touch screen adjustable pump and power, whirlpool integration, etc. Many people complain about the effectiveness of the cooling jacket and continue to use the immersion chiller. I see that even now the steam hat does not have a handle so you will need a glove around to operate it. I was upgrading to a Brewtools system but I steel consider Braumeister to be a good quality product. I hope they will someday listen more to their clients.

I've been using a Braumeister 20L for almost 10 years. The build quality is indeed excellent. I upgraded to the new (2021) model about 6 months ago. I'm very happy with it. Speidel have done an excellent job. I think all the new features are genuine improvements, even the cooling jacket, which works fine if the water's cool enough. Anyway, just thought I'd chime in, because there seems to be a lot of misinformation being "branded" about re the Braumeister and its faux competitors. There's nothing comparable to a Braumeister on the market, in reality. What we get for the money is the most reliable all-in-one wort-making system on the market. Its level of automation simplifies what is, let's be honest, a boring process. The wort sitting involved with more hands-on systems is a time consuming form of watching paint dry. The Braumeister's design and build quality mean it's going to brew excellent wort consistently for many years. That's what we're paying for. The claims by some they're "upgrading" from a Braumeister to a more hands-on, equally expensive, all-in-one brewing system makes no sense. I think they've been captured by aggressive marketing and misinformation mainly. Hoodwinked, in other words. A bit like trading in a Rolls-Royce for a shiny horse and cart, in my mind.

Hi, great video as always. I brought a 2021 BM20 last year and I am very happy with it. I look forward to your brewing video; a couple of key things I think are worth mentioning and discussing, limitations on grain bill / batch size and possible work arounds, importance of grain crush size and the "wort fountain" issue and the sparge / no sparge options. The only negative I have is that I think it is rubbish that such a premium product doesn't come with a UK 3pin lead. Having said that, the quality of this is mind blowing, and obvious in its weight, I have been impressed with how easy / quick it is to clean with the stainless steel, however I moved up from peco boiler / BIAB set up, so assume this would go for all SS all in one systems. The cooling collar is great, one less item to have to wash up in my mind, in winter / below 20 degrees ambient I would say it is probably 10 -15 mins minutes or so slower than an immersion, personally for me I prefer this too cleaning an immersion chiller. When I brewed 2 weeks ago in about 28 degrees, the ground water was fairly warm, so with the collar only, cooling past 35 degrees was very slow, in the end I just transferred to fermenter / fermfridge then waited for the fridge cooling to bring it down to pitching temperature, I felt that better than a longer time open to possible infection. I am interested in going to conical fermenters, could you advise on the Speidel system, how best this would be heated? As I assume it is probably too big for a brew fridge and most people will be brewing in a shed / garage, so in winter this is a problem. does the Linder system cover the heating as well as cooling? otherwise I am probably leaning towards the GF conical system that has the in-built heat belt. Thanks and all the best.

My first system was a 20L Braumeister. For someone who wants the process largely automated it's fine. When it came time to upgrade I went for Brewtools which requires me to sit there all day instead, which is a downside.

Thank you, but how does it actually work versus the standard fermentation/pressure vessel system?

Is there a part number for the solenoid fitting and the quick connector fitting that screws onto the dimpled cooling jacket. I've got a 120 liter speidel jacketed fermenter that's a great fermenter. But I've never used the cooling jacket. Information is limited in the states.

The only worry I would have is if the cooling jacket is made of plastic there is a chance it could get caught and ripped. I have to pack away my brew gear after I have finished with it and that would be a major worry to me, even if your extra careful sod's law could apply.

The cooling jacket is not plastic. It is stainless steel and welded to the kettle. I have used my Speidel 50L for many brews and had no problems with the cooling jacket. The only issue is when brewing smaller batches, the jacket doesn't cool very well, because it does not cover the lower part of the kettle. I think, this also applies to the 20L system.

@@Patrick-vt79w2 I stand corrected, it looks like plastic and it was not described as being made of steel in the video, thanks for the correction.

@@devilmaycare2809That's no problem, happy to make it clear for you. It looks different probably because it may have a 'shot blasted' finish. Speidel produce great products but unfortunately there are several areas whereby it could be greatly improved.
