I put it back the way it came out.. and you are right about the bearing, I did have some squeaking noise from bearing a year or so after making this video. Unfortunately the whole swap was sold and car was crushed.

yep same. the seal for the output shaft is located inside the distributor, and the o ring is on the outside that goes into the cylinder head

@@IntegraDIY I bought a distributor and when I took it out of the box and checked, there isn't any marking or P/N on the distributor itself. Is this normal NOT to have marking or P/N on the item itself? How does the store knows what it is if they ever misplace it?

@sinnieleeonUtube it’s not an original part, OEM distributor should have a sticker and engraving on the cast aluminum body. but if it works fine there shouldn’t be anything wrong using it. i don’t know how they would identify it if you returned it or anything

@@IntegraDIY I don't really mind if it is not an OEM. Just that they didn't mess it up with a different part. There is however a manufacture number on it. Wondering if this can be cross referenced. Just wondering if this is a normal practice for the car industry. Would it damage your car if a non-compatible distributor is put on since it is just a selenoid to converting the right voltage. Or it would just not work.

@@IntegraDIY OK- I just replaced the distributor with another new one and the car started now. However, I was unable to do the timing because the timing belt cover blocks my view of the markings on the pulley wheel. Standing in front of the car looking down, I think it's supposed to be the 3rd one, toward the bottom and the inner most one close to the cover. Anyway, I let it run at idle for about half an hour and the engine's sound seemed smooth. Do you think it's good enough to be driven without stalling. And because the new one looks exactly like the old one (even the wire color and stripes), I adjusted the distributor to be at the same location BUT forgot to mark all three nuts instead of just the top one.

correct which is an easier route if you don't want to rebuild it...but 7mo ago I'm sure you figured it out...lol

Endetta Vay I have a leak near the bottom bolt of my dizzy on my b20, done this on my gsr a couple years ago but not sure if I should replace the whole dizzy, what do you think?

Thomas Hamilton have you replaced the o-ring as well as the distributor cap gasket? Verify only bc simple things like that can cause minor issues. As well as do you have all the distributor bolts in place if one is missing temporarily ok but a fix. Honestly though if those all are fine and your really not trying to rebuild the dis. Just replace it with another one... hopefully get another 20 years out of it.

Endetta Vay yea I haven’t even tried messing with it yet because it was raining today, but I felt the bottom of the dizzy the bolt is there, but my hand was covered in oil, I’m ordering the o ring right now hopefully it will fix it.

Thomas Hamilton I’m sure it’s the gaskets be it o ring distributor cap gasket especially if it’s just leaking

Shaft is worn, replace distributor

Get a hook or some type of pick, out some force into prying it

+Clint Eastwood sup man, I found oil residue inside of the distributor cap. The actual inner seal was rock solid, it was done. The o-ring would cause oil on the side of the head and under the dizzy. Both had failed on my distributor causing oil residue everywhere 🙁

skywatcher1973 the o-rings on the outside? No, replacing the rotor isn’t needed. But it’s best to change the cap/rotor when you do a complete tune up 👍

androsk hell yeah, she’s old and tired. I do have a fresh engine for her, but I’ve been lagging it

Or that could have been the loud valve on start up.. but I do have piston slap
