I don't think it's a lack of incentives. It's a lack of penalties. The entertainment business operates on different rules than regular jobs. If you don't try at most other jobs, it will affect you negatively. The problem nowadays is that the All-Star game is in the middle of the season. Maybe it should be after the season, similar to the Pro-Bowl. No one is going to risk injury in the middle of the season when they are technically supposed to be on a 'break". I also think the lack of high salaries (relatively speaking) in the early era's of basketball contributed to the All-Star game being more competitive.

Money incentives for whoever team wins the all-star game for example, if the west wins the all-star game, they will receive a $10,000 bonus while the mvp gets a $1,000 bonus to that incentive, this just might be the solution.

Spitballing here, I believe the NBA should consider organizing an All-Star game featuring Eastern Conference bench players against their Western Conference counterparts. To add an exciting twist, they could appoint an All-Star player as the coach. Given the competitiveness and talent of these bench players, who often have limited playing time during the season, such a matchup would undoubtedly make for an engaging and thrilling spectacle

Here are some ides on how to fix it: 1. Replace Adam Silver 2. Give points/standing or equivalent wins to the teams of the players under the west or east team. For example if the west team wins then they'd have an equivalent of +5 wins on their team win record. (what if a star player of a certain team is not on the all star game, then they should do their best to be able to be included) 3. The "celebration" of basketball that Adam silver wants, they should just do it for the other contest like 3 point and dunk then at least give money to the winners under those categories.

I have always treated it as a mid-season break as a fan (ok, once I watched the show some ten years ago and was shocked because the lack of effort) during a season that already has an exhausting number of games which matter only slightly more. 60 game regular season and no all-star game would be the best. It used to be pro athletes made a ton of money, but they would never be the captains of industry. They knew this and they worked harder, longer and cared. Now we have guys hitting 200 million lotteries on the regular, and mid players can make more money than the stars of old could ever do. To me the biggest disgrace this season was the Lakers Celtics game in Boston. That's the one time the Lakers play in Boston the entire season. Lebron and AD both load managed that game. The idgaf attitude from the players is a slippery slope. When do you think it started? Was there a particular incident? My best guess would be that players were not disciplined for violations (especially on-court assault) when they should have been, and it started going downhill from there. When did the "load managing" start? Why did it start in the first place? It was a *perfect* example you included of the screaming 2-4 yo kid whose tantrums leave him basically in charge of the household while the parents have no idea what to do AND seem to have absolutely no idea why this is happening. I know some kids have behavioral disorders, but sometimes parents just give into the kid from the first moments and never say "NO." What is the solution for the NBA?
