A classic & memorable movie. Although he had a short role in this movie I met and talked with John Candy while I was in Florida (spring break) visiting friends in April 1985. He was with Paramount filming the movie Summer Rental. The meeting occurred in St Pete Beach.

I've stayed at Riverbind Resort many time. We were actually watching the movie on a ski trip and were AT Riverbind when we were like "wait a second!?!?! That's here!

The whole family jumped out of our seats when the notification popped up! Breakfast bacon stopped frying, the bread in the toaster sat cold, and everyone rushed the TV. I worked at a theatre when this film came out. It was a surprise hit. We could hear the opening credit song and frequently sang along with it. Crowds love it. Thanks for the trip back.

It’s crazy how almost 40 years has passed and damn near nothing changed. Including the color of cousin Eddys house. The sand mounds that look like mountains blew my mind. Amazing vid.

At 16:38 it shows where I used to work cleaning rooms. I remember when I got hired the owners mentioned that was one of the filming locations for this movie. I was told it took about 10 days to film that scene in Pueblo, CO.

I was a part of the filming during the summer of ‘82 right after graduating h.s. I was in the picnic basket scene. It was filmed at a rest stop that was near South Fork CO. Met the entire crew. Still have the uncashed check from Warner Bros.

When I was younger my family went to Colorado every year for vacation. I remember this place in Colorado. So many memories, wish I would have appreciated the time together back then. COLORADO is beautiful.

I remember going to the theater to see this movie, it was the best hilariously funny movie of the decade at least it was for me. The station wagon was an iconic car much like any car used in the movies in the 80s. Cars that were used in movies in that time like ecto1 was an iconic car and everyone knows the vehicle used in the movie

Thanks Adam for all your research and willingness to travel to these locations, as well including minor details. Among my favorite scenes: After the Griswolds leave the ghetto in the "Wally Wagon" they all fall asleep (including Clark who is driving) and skid around into the hotel parking lot, you can read "Honky Lips" spray painted on the side of their car.
