Love your mantra that there are no easy shots in tennis! It helps me both recover from misses and not let my ego go for too much.

Some ideas re: having a vulnerable/weak right wrist: * it's almost always present in the racquet drop position, and is present in Nitzan's * it's frequently present at contact, like in Djokovic's * one of the biggest advantages of a 2hbh is that the two hands acts as a super-wrist, and constraining that system's range of motion by maintaining a strong bottom hand position wastes that advantage * the bottom hand is generally less dominant, since it's mechanically disadvantaged compared to the top hand - so it's counterproductive to have it be strong at the expense of the top hand * a notable exception was Agassi, who claimed to be right hand dominant in his backhand, and instead was able to lay his left wrist back more to avoid being overconstrained

Good comment. Thanks. Yes, Agassi had an interesting way of describing his backhand feels.

Not sure if this fits here but I love Tiafoe's slow and sharp angle on the backhand - no idea how he does it. Wrist maybe?

Absolutely! Even with a one-handed top spin b/h advanced players should be cocking the wrist up to increase racket head acceleration into the impact. The sliced b/h especially so. And why not on the volley? And deep approach volley needs cocky wristwork (up - neutral) thru the cut - much as a tree feller would wielding an axe 🪓 on an angle cut.

I wish you quick recovery, Tom. I was glad to see that you highlighted that it is important that his wrist comes back to neutral at contact. My 2hbh was with the same wrist but the bent wrist remained at contact and I believe this has contributed to my elbow issues, since i was contacting the ball with the extended arm muscles/ tendons on the dominant arm. These small details are often overlooked and rec players just copy the wrist look. I think for rec players it is much safer to copy your backhand and i am sure it is more then enough power for

Thanks! A lot of players, including pros, have their wrist in weak positions, but I really like what Nitzan is doing here

I have thought about this many a time. My biggest question was what is the best way to produce it after looking at Djoker over and over again. i wanna know if its even a thought in his head. The push/pull technique of pushing the left hand down while pulling the right arm was something i expermented with after reaearch, seemed more corrective . 0bviously something you don't want to think about during a match. Or, should this just be gravity assisted drop of the racquet head while rotating the body causing the hands to drop if you have loose wrists. I would like to think it happens more naturally if you have the flexibility. Not sure of course. Also, Nitzan uses his body well but i like his extension thru contact. Something Djoker does really well and is overlooked. Obviously l, i dont use my body well at times but really feel a control and power drain when I don't extend thru contact, pull the racquet. feels like im putting more 'weight' on the ball. I think a lot of players at my level roll over with the wrists instead of pulling all the way thru contact and get a jammed backhand. contact point not in front of the body and rolling over the wrists not using the body enough, all arms. or some combination of those.

Hi Tom, hope you're healing well!!! What's your opinion on when and how you would introduce this in the development of a junior player? How did Nitzan arrive there?

It often happens naturally when they're looking for more speed and have the ability to time these movements.

Great vig. I could never get my wrist action or grip to feel correct or intuitive on my 2H and I was so right hand dominant I switched to a 1 hander and it was better than my 2H in just months. Agassi seems to have very little wrist movement and Novak said he tries to use his wrists as little as possible
