6 years after our first recording back in Cincinnati, Ohio Brandon Novak returns to the Addiction Series. Thank you to Brandon and his team for the work to make this happen. If you need help call Brandon at 610-314-6747 This trip would not have been possible without a generous gift from Shawn Trapp and Good Shepard Ministries. Thank you to Justin Hawthorne for taking his own time and equipment to help shoot this video. This is episode 149 of the addiction series. I never thought you would become such an inspiration to me. I remember seeing you on viva la bam. Back then I was still pretty young and never tried anything and never thought in a million years I would ever even try a drug in my lifetime. Unfortunately, I was so wrong. Now at almost 32 yrs old I am lost and wondering what happened to the past 10 years of my life. At one time I had everything, and it feels like all I did was blink one time, and now everything has changed, and I've lost so much including myself. It's hard but I am fighting and hoping to have a chance at a normal life again somehow, someday. You have been a huge inspiration to me though. I'm so happy for you and your sobriety. Your story is insane but what you have been able to get through and the things you now do to help others, is so amazing and beautiful. Thanks for sharing your story with everyone. I could never get sick of hearing it. I need to get your 2nd book! I read the first one but have a feeling the second one is better. Keep up doing what you're doing and staying strong.

@@andrewmichaels6298how are you? It’s hard to communicate off line but I can help you get in somewhere… and Medicaid in Ohio will pay at least 90 days and then over a year at sober living/recovery centers

Thank you for sharing and breaking it down for us!!! My son is 22 and is in his first month of rehab for Fentanyl. I PRAY he gets it. We lost his step brother 4 years ago to Fentanyl. Congratulations and I know your mom and family are so proud and you should be as well!!!

We need more videos like this, where addicts who achieved sobriety tell their story because it offers encouragement for others struggling. The only thing you can find in this category anymore is just advertisements, reality tv shows and just general toxic negativity. You used to be able to find all sorts of videos like this, but not much anymore. Videos like this are real, and it can be that small spark that get someone to start fighting and trying.

I remember seeing Brandon in Media, PA at the probation office. Hes not lying about the scarves, dude was wearing a bunch of them like the white Prince. There were always stories about him at George W Hill Jail as well. So glad to see/hear him in this light, looking good amd speaking truth. Hes an inspiration cause this dude is the real deal I can confirm. God Bless you Novak!

I relate to it, every bit. But the part "it's just business"... it's become recovery slang that detracts from the previous part of the statement "it's not personal!" And I too am terrible at suicide. ❤️‍🔥 Thank You God 🙏

I continuously ruin my life with alcohol but my family thinks that i do it because i want to, but i am literally miserable when i do drink… after i do it i have to have it… i am so good at forgetting all the bad times but always remember the good feelings it gave me. I got out of rehab in august 30th of this year, and i feel like ive lived such a full life from then up until i relapsed October 29th, and have gone through three small periods of sobriety after leaving the ER every time and since then, i take naltrexone to not drink but still do, even though it makes me feel nothing from drinking, i still do it somehow…

I havent had a period of sobriety longer then i did after i left rehab so i want to go back but i already start to preplan how to get stoned/high/drunk while i am there. And thats not how i get or stay sober…

I thank you so much for even telling your story mr. Novak, shit sucks to be honest, people think we do this cause we like to (thats true initially but after a certain amount it doesnt matter because that addiction tells us “go get it boy/girl” and we dont get to decide wether thats good or bad

mother is now 7 days sober from alcohol, from my personal issue with alcohol to, because I do this to cope with life, but my mother has more of a reason to cope with life watching her son die, I’m just thinking of (ironically crazy hearts soundtrack) flying and falling. “Lately I’ve just lost the fight” lyric from that song

But her recent addiction is because of my drinking also, i just thank god she isn’t doing it at my rate or quantity, because it’s gotten to the fifth+ of vodka rate, but if she was drinking a fifth a day or more of smirnoff vodka I would also be distraught but I let someone else (not her) ruin my life, and that person is myself… please heed my warning of alcohol or addictive drugs… please if you think you are different in using, your brain has shown you that your one of us… and when you accept that when your an addict or alcoholic, and you still use, it further proves to you that your one of us, and once you accept that, everything is else is up to your willingness to be free from this misery

Hate to tell you but unless the god of your understanding is the God and his only son Jesus Christ then you will continue to struggle with sobriety. You turn with all the effort, energy and love you've put into being an addict towards Jesus Christ and you will be saved from the darkness and you will be born again.

I don't want to throw any shade on him because I don't think he's said this exactly, but I do believe he frequented certain opiates, scarves are a good tie off to get your veins popping.
