Add a compatible screen when building a Dac or Streamer with a RPI Please Note that CPU and Rpi noise is normal. Any Device will have some noise in this Video noise is being amplified a lot so it is detectable, in most cases you will not hear it specially with a good power supply and shielding.

I like how easy it is to setup with Roon and has all the Basic functions you need, not a replica of your phone display but rather what is playing and basic essential commands.

I don’t keep any music locally, I just use Tidal connect and Spotify connect. Does Room support the “connect” platforms?

Another excellent video, thanks a million! A request if possible.... Would LOVE to see you add an Ian Canada Dual Mono ES9038Q2M DAC HAT & OPA861 I/V Stage for RCA/XLR output to the current build. On yours you have I2S out via HDMI right now, but an all-in-one build supporting PCM/DSD and balanced/unbalanced outs could be a great solution for those without an external DAC. I do have an external DAC, but it's quite a few years old and only has USB in (for PCM/DSD) and Coax (PCM only). Ian Canada does make a PCM/coax out board (so no native DSD) but no USB out board as far as I can see. None of the DACs I like seem to have I2S in. Thanks!!

This is great - thanks. I would really appreciate if you could cover two specific things in this series with a screen and grounding: 1) how is it possible to do input source selection and output type selection with the screen? Only relevant with a DAC board, I guess. 2) You've "hubbed" the ground wires together but where are they draining to? And I notice on the IanCanada boards there are ground points too. I assume the GPIO will connect all the boards together for GND but where does one of them drain to? Sorry if these seem dumb questions. Thanks again for doing this series - it's very inspiring.

Ian has a station pi controller If you use a station pi pro github.com/iancanada/DocumentDownload/blob/master/Adapters/StationPiPro/StationPiProUsersManualV1.1.pdf See page 7 2) for ground just your ground from you 120v socket sometimes amplifiers have that on the back if you you are reluctant to tap in the socket

@@Gabster1 Thanks, and I see that on the PDF. You've just confirmed that the screen you're talking about here is just to interact with Roon (or other platform) and not the inputs/outputs too. So a second screen is needed for that (as indicated on the PDF). On a second note, could you share a link to decent DC hook up cables/wire that you're fond of? Thanks again - appreciate your work.

I use Roon I have a lifetime subscription it is very easy Feel free to use the link in the description and give it a free trial. Moode was my second favorite but I have not tried them lately.

Gabster, would you try some 3M AB6005S EMI sheets between the boards instead of the grounding method and see how it goes? Would be great to see your findings in a video.

The 3m emi sheets are limited to very high frequencies Also grounding is key you can not do that with eni sheets as they are not conductive if you notice the shield alone don’t do as much See my shielding video Copper is known to be the best

Very nice! Question: will Ropieee display this screen (album art and controls) when using DLNA? What about Spotify streaming? Or does it just work with Roon?

Just works with Roon it does not display anything with Spotify

I heard you can I tried 3 years ago but did not have great success then, specially controlling it but it may be easier now with the latest update let me know if you try Moode about your experience

@@Gabster1 I've done my homework this week-end. The TDA1387 x8 DAC kit (from Mark) is now soldered and mounted on the RPI4. Moodle installed. Sounds very great but Qobuz is not very simple to use with. So I tried Volumio. Very convenient. Sounds slightly different.

Roon is the easiest I have seen it work with Volumio and Moode but never tried it myself

It is one option or better build a streamer with fifo Q7 You still need a RPI and a good psu like purepi

Thanks, now I get it, I just have to choose the final module with spdif.
