Hopefully, your area won't get hit with a hurricane anytime soon. I had one similar (5x7) that seemed very strong after I put it together and anchored it to the ground with large twist in anchors. Fast forward 2 years to Hurricane Hanna. Strong cat 1. We live 60 miles from the coast in the RGV. Anchors held fine, but Hanna flattened it to the ground. The 4 corners were bent 90 degrees about 3" above where I bolted the structure to the anchors.

Have one similar to that from Lowes, we have to replace the canvas every 12-18 months. The sun kills it and then a little wind will make it start to tear.

after we left San Antonio and moved South, she ordered one with a metal roof. Took me a couple of days to put it together, and it was a pain, but all in all, AFTER it was assembled, it's a pretty nice one. Really appreciate the metal roof. I'd hate a degradable roof. Got it put together several months ago (it sat in boxes on a pallet for almost two years), and put red pavers and outdoor furniture under it. It's 10x12 and the cats and deer love it. Love your place. new sub.

I've tried those in the past. Sadly, they end up pretty much being disposable. The canvas ends up falling apart and then you can't find a replacement. Another thing that I've had happen is if the wind picks up when you're not expecting it, the frame can end up getting twisted up and ends up not being repairable. Crossing my fingers for the longevity of yours! Definitely looks good!

had a slightly smaller version that we put together many moons ago. went through 2 canvas covers as sun damage killed the first one and hail took the second out. we finally took it down after about 6-7 years. we secured the bottoms by sticking the legs into 5 gallon buckets and filled with cement. No wind issues. Agree on the install.

You are correct. They are a pain in the rear end to put together. We have a similar one. Put it together pretty much by myself. It was stupid. But we love it after it was put up.
