Add more grip: Wavetrac Differential. You've stated for your wheels: Konig Ampliform's 18x8.5 +35. But they don't make a 35mm offset in that wheel, only 43mm. So far as their site specifies. Did you run a 8mm spacer?

I’ve ran DWS 06’s on my GTI, and they are far from a grippy tire haha. Either those Federals you had were really bad, or you haven’t ran actual good tires yet. The DWS 06’s are geared much more as a winter/rain A/S tire over dry grip. If you want the best gripping A/S tires, get the Michelin A/S 3+’s. They are really good for summer grip, and really good for rain. So so on snow.

I mentioned in the video that there are better tires out there. Just simply this is what was in stock in the tire size I needed when I needed them. That being said, these are still very grippy tires. The dwso6 and dwso6+ are a very different tire.(they are grippy enough to pull the painted lines off the road) And yes the Federal’s really were that bad.

I wrecked my MK V on DWS 06's. Hydroplaned on the highway going into a very gradual turn and I was only going about 65. The tires were less than a year old and had maybe 4k miles. No issues yet with the Michelins on the MK 7.

@Capt. Blackfoot Glad you lived to tell the tale! So far I have not have any experiences like that and have been more than impressed with them so far. Keep in mind these are a 265 so are going to have a decent bit more contact patch than the normal tire found on our cars.

on 18x8.5 +35 wheels can I use 245/40r18 tires without rubbing on the inside and outside?

Yes. Depends how low you go, but if you go fender to tire you’ll need to do fender screw mod and possibly camber but also how stiff your ride is also plays a factor

PS4’s all the way, iv’e never owned a better tire. A supposed close second is the Firestone Indy, they offer similar grip, wear faster, but are cheaper.

I have ran the indy500 from Firestone before and was less than impressed. In ideal conditions they did good but other than that it was a cross your fingers a pray situation. Very similar to the Federals I came from. I really wanted to get some PS4’s but they were not available in the tire size I need when I needed them.

@@HaydenCroix I like the PS4's as well. I went with the 255-35 18's because of the rubbing issue. I've got a completely different set of winter tires/wheels with OEM sizing to manage the snow & slush here in Chicago from Nov-Mid April.

@@jpchampine6992 Luckily I don't need winter specific tires where I live. We haven't seen more than an inch of snow in years here. And I wanted the PS4's as well just couldn't get them in the right size in time for my pervious mountain run.(test fit PS4's in 285/35 and the wouldn't fit in the rears.

Previous owner put PS4 on the car before I got it and I have a little bit of trouble getting grip with a stage 2 GTI especially in the rain might just be because they are only 225 though

They are ok for an all around tire. They don't have as much grip as an r compound but for all around yeah I could see people saying they are quite good.

I’ve got 245 Michelin PS4S’s on mine, they handle fantastic. Zero wheel spin. Barely rubs on dips on the road. Only con was the price.

@@GolfCoyote I originally ordered 2 ps4s's in a 285/35 to see if I could make them work and it was no where near fitting in the rear. The front's cleared but my tire guy had a hell of a time forcing them on an 8.5 lol

@@HaydenCroix ya 285 is wide as shit lol. Wider than my 18 Mustang GTs tires (just barely lol) I think at some point it’s diminishing returns. Extra weight for grip you may not even necessarily need.

If that suspension fully compresses on track it will crease the arches. Also in Germany if pulled by the Police the car wouldn't adhere to TUV/German standards and it would be impounded.

Wow some stiff laws out there! I now have to correct spacers in the rear and am no long rubbing or scrubbing even on large bumps. Now as for the front, I still rub on bigger bumps but not bad by any means. In some states here in the US my car could be impounded for the front wheels sticking out too much as it sits now.

@@HaydenCroix I agree with Mr. Dyer. 255 is really the widest your can go with decent suspension travel on Mk7s. 265 rubs and hit the fuel filler neck. Maybe some camber can offer better travel but that's awesome you installed 265s👌

@@paulwilliams6534 in the rear with the right offset you can fit a 265 without hitting the filler neck. I am now running a 2 mm spacer and no longer rubbing on anything and have full suspension travel. Up front you have to have at least a 10mm over fender or replacement fender like I do to fit a 265 without forcing it with camber. That being said I do not get full suspension travel up front without rubbing where then fender meets the front bumper. Hopefully I will have a solution for that soon.

I have a question on stock factory height would I have any issues running these size tires 265/35? My wheels are also 18 by 18.5 as well

It you are on factory ride height you should have no problem!

One other question for you as far as camber on front and back with stock height do you recommend changing it or leave it as is?

@@limitededition3278 On stock height you will likely be fine. I run -2.7 in the rear and -0.5 up front. (-2.0 up front is ideal for spirited driving) You will likely have to roll/pull your front fenders when you decide to bag though if you want to have a tucked air'd out setup.

@@HaydenCroix thanks again. On air I will only bring it down only as low as MK 7.5 R level not looking to slam or tuck them in. That is the reason I considered bags because I can adjust easier. I like coilovers but I am lazy do not have a lift and I hate jacking car up all the time to have to re-adjust.

Is 9 inch wide wheels the widest the mk7 can use without rubbing?

It is really based off of your offset and tire size I have seen 9.5’s without a crazy amount of camber. But if you want anything bigger you will need to either get wider fenders or you will need some crazy camber to make them fit.

also you could roll the rear fenders a bit to clear the tires, i’m on 9.5 wide wheels with 215/35 tires, i had to roll them

I have only ran the PS4’s in the past so I really am not to sure. That being said I imagine there is a decent difference between the two in performance
