One of the reasons I hate the thing some online sites have where there is a half hour countdown saying that if you buy now you get it for this price and then it will permanently be more expensive, it prays on people who impulse buys and I find it horrible.

I was diagnosed as ADD when I was a child. I’m now 34 and am struggling even more now as an adult. I was diagnosed with ADHD, Inattentive Type and Social Anxiety. (I also have depression and ptsd from my line of work). I honestly don’t know how I have survived so long. I spend too much money (my obsession is coffee cups, books and video games.). I do remember to pay bills, but that’s out of fear that I remember. ( I check my billing statements obsessively everyday). I’m exhausted. I really am so...so...exhausted. Last edit, I swear. I’m SO glad I stumbled on your channel. This self proclaimed “old lady” doesn’t feel so crazy, anymore.

My mum usually pays late, but once she paid so early it was during the previous month and she ended up having to call the company because they thought she hadn't paid the bill. Luckily it worked out well and she didn't need to pay the false late fee, but I would hate extra hassle like that.

Thank you so much for doing this video! I'm a really impulsive spender. It's one thing medication hasn't helped with because I'm an emotional spender and I just downplay all the consequences and think "oh itll be okay" by the middle of the month I'm terrified of looking at my balance 🙈

Remember to save up for those big expenses you know are coming too. If it's cheaper to pay an annual fee instead of monthly, pay the annual fee, then set aside 1/12 of it monthly so you're ready when the time comes to pay again.

Great ideas! I recommend doing a budget to determine exactly how much needs to pay for living, then set up a payment to transfer what's left over to a 2nd account with its own debit/credit card for personal spending. I recently made a 3rd account, no card, customised the online banking picture as visual reminder of my saving goal, Motorbike. Some weeks I don't spend much money so I transfer it to my bike-account!

One thing that has helped me in staying on top of bills has been making a dedicated draft account. Every check I take home a dedicated amount goes into my draft account, some goes into my savings, and then I have another personal use account for more flexible spending. I also set notifications for anything that pulls from any of my accounts along with my total balance. This allows me to ensure that my bills are always paid first and makes it easier for me to make my grocery budget. I also always maintain an emergency savings amount. $1000 is usually enough for me if something comes up that I didn't plan for. If my emergency budget is used my goal is immediately to focus on replenishing it. This works for me because it allows me to focus on simpler goals rather than trying to juggle bills on top of budgeting and saving.

I am definitely a pen-to-paper person. I cant use money apps or budget on my phone or online. That doesnt make it real for me. I have to have it in front of me to hold and carry in my wallet or I mess up. It also helps to have it staring at me so I have a reminder of the bills coming up so I dont spend on impulse. It isnt perfect but it definitely helps.

Professional psychologists have done research to verify it is more obvious that you are spending a large amount of money if you use paper money. Handing over a thick stack of paper currency makes it more obvious to your brain that you are spending a large amount than just running a plastic credit card through a reader. Some people have said that it does not feel like they are really spending money if all they do is swipe a card.

Have multiple bank accounts where you divvy up your wages into specific accounts with a set purpose so you don’t spend money you don’t have. I have about 6 different accounts. One for Rent and Utilities, one for Car, one for Internet and Phone, one for Medical, One for Savings and one for my NDIS allowance. I only have a debit card never a credit card so it’s my money being spent only.

Do you have different accounts all connected to one bank account and move money from one to another? Or do you have accounts at different banks? Do you have to pay fees with each account? I’d like to have different accounts too and trying to figure out how to best do that.

Beautiful made tips , definitely 3 things i start doing and you munched them : working with cash , no more credit cards if I need something I see if the store lay way it or I put money on it to be saved and I saved for the rest in an envelope at home, the food is the biggest bill for me and I'm sure for lot of people, you definitely should eat before food shopping ,for me I have a list for the monthly things then I'll buy 10 days food of balanced meals, eating healthy and less meat is better and cheaper this days , I have only 2 other bills which I pay by 10 days earlier that also make your life easier. In general know how to budget your meals and cook earlier before you get hungry and you'll get food delivered that's not good neither for your health nor you savings.
