I bought a new RF900 in 94 in black, it was a toss up between that and the blade but it was around £1500 cheaper so price decided for me. Loved it, a great bike.

I still like analogue clocks, like these here, over any the new digital/high definition thingies ... I dread to think what a replacement would/will cost, when they eventually start to play up.

I took a Fireblade with a NSR500 V-Twin bodykit from Glasgow-Genoa in 1998,cruising at 80mph(5000rpm) average, and returned a steady 64mpg...still the most economical motorcycle I've ever toured on! Currently looking at a RF900,why I'm on here...still have that 'Blade,though my mate high-sided it,and destroyed the NSR kit!

I've sort of streetfightered my 94 RF900R. I took the lower fairing off but kept the nose, removed the grab handle, swapped the front forks for the B12 ones and jacked it up a little. It's so much better

The RF's nose looks like Alien, so cool! Though I've never been keen on the back end. Mine is red with black grills, looks very smart. Rare now. Interesting to hear that the performance is similar. Good video, thanks for sharing.

@Adikxx - Re: The RF9 Head & Tail lights, I did a mod whereby I pulled them apart, inserted a string of LEDs around the edge of the lights and modded the main bulbs, as below:- Headlight - used a low oven temp to soften and split it open, then glued in a string of LED's around the shape of the headlight to be wired up and used as the sidelight, and then the main bulb (replaced with a 200% brighter Philips bulb) as per normal - Dipped/High beam. Rear light cluster - Similar thing, used oven low temp to soften the seal, split both light housings open, then glued in a ring of LEDS around the shape of each of the two light cases, and wired them in to be the normal rear light, then, wired all three normal filament bulbs to be used as the brake lights. I'd be happy to send anyone the pictures so you can see the tidy effect shown as example of the work I did (fully passed MOT's with no problems too!), my email address is on my KZfaq home/info page, it looked cool having the front and rear lights lit up at dusk/night, and, it was a fairly easy job to do too! 😏👌 God I miss my RF900RW (it was a California import in dark green with the grey graphics, I junked all the junk air/fumes-recycling crap and did other mods to her too..) 😎🇬🇧

Miss my RF900. Superb all rounder: be it weekend B road blasts, 2 up holidays in Alps, odd trackday every now and again ...RF can do it all but required to be manhandled to do keep up with sports bikes on twisties.

I got my RF 'by accident' - it was in the right place, at the right time, at low price ... Great all rounders, under-rated, plenty quick enough. Only real weakness - the plastic coupling on the later models' alternators (see the owners forum for info), but these will still last 30,000 or more; the alternator on the earlier bikes (94-96) - the 'green label' one lasts and lasts.... If I had my time over again? I should have waited, and got another ZX-9R/or a 10, but that's not down to the Suzuki, just a decades long appreciation of Kawasaki engineering - people that build ships and aircraft bit and pieces are on a different level altogether ;-)

back in '94 i bought a new rf900r. looked black in the showroom but in the sunlight it had a blue/purple metallic and purple wheels. my only 3 complaints were - no gas guage, no 6th gear (i always tried for 6th the whole time i owned it) and i hated the yellowish light from the factory headlight bulbs which i replaced with some that were in the 6500k spectrum and super white. loved the comfort and the linear powerband.

RF looks great. Does the bar conversion on the RF require different cables or brake lines?
@Adikxx4 ай бұрын
Stock cables were good enough. I already had longer braised hoses so not sure if stock hoses would be long enough.

Great comparison! Have you rebuild the engine to 1146cc on the RF? Hos much rwhp and torque does it make?
@Adikxx6 ай бұрын
Yes, i have a series of videos on this channel showing step by step the whole build of that engine. Never took the bike to the dyno so don't know what peak numbers are. It goes nicely though.

It was my dreambike when I was a kid so its nice to own them today. I have some videos of them on my chanel and also a dyno video of the 1998 bike 💪

firebalde as daily 🤮 rf better as daily especially stock woth 5 speed gearbox not ypur 💩 upgrade to 6 speed gearbox 🤮 😉 beside even stock rf have lil more upright position than stock firebalde 👍🏻 firebalde like for me is better only in weight category where lighter is better cos its 20-30 kg lighter 😁👌🏻 beside this i would choice rf 900 👍🏻stock not yours modified 👌🏻 😉 but yea on track on the same tire stock vs stock firebalde kick ass rf 900 in corners not be huge margin but still 👌🏻 long story short cbr is better track bike rf is better daily bike with the same straight acceleration and top speed stock vs stock 👌🏻
