Adjusting Eddi temp cutoff on my Mixergy hot water tank

In this video I show how I went about lowering the cut-off temp to prevent my Eddi from heating the water in my Mixergy tank too much.
My Eddi solar diverter has been working really well, but on very sunny days, it has heated the water in my Mixergy tank to 75 degrees! With small children in my house, this is very dangerous. I contact Mixergy and they told me to adjust the cut-off.
In this video, I show you how I did it.

Well done for posting this - it’s very helpful as I have exactly the same problem (well actually an iBoost but with the same need to adjust the stat on the element).

Where did you get the mixergy tank? I’m in Tullamore.

I’m living in the UK. Ordered the tank directly from Mixergy. I believe they were going to be on sale in Ireland last year.

Do you have an element in the bottom of the tank?

No, just the dual element at the top.

@@tomasmcguinness is that because the mixergy tank has a recirculation pump? I noticed the bottom of your tank was cooler is there no way to get that on?

The thank has a de-stratification pump, but it runs that itself. Its goal is to heat the water from the top down, so during normal heating, it runs the pumps when it thinks it’s required.

It does run. I’ve asked their support. When PV is being used, the pump will run when a certain temp difference is reached. However, the tank also tracks the percentage of hot water in the tank. It uses a setting. Once it hits 100%, the pump will no longer run. So I up the desired temp to 60. I’m going to get a mixer valve attached. Then I can heat the water all I want and won’t have any scalding risks!

U can also install myenergi sensor and relay board with PT1000 temperature sensor.

That would be nifty, but not sure how I’d install the sensor into the tank. Have you done something like this??

@@tomasmcguinness yes I've done it with my Dakin heatpump and Dakin tank as the emersion didn't come with a thermostat eddi didn't know what temperature the tank was. I slotted the pt 1000 into one of the holes in the tank and it works perfectly.

Except that relay board & sensor and have been out of stock for months now. As Tom did, I’ve just turned down the variable thermostat on the Elemex element in my standard copper cylinder. Operating only one element - as the stat and overheat stat are switching out the neutral - so, shut down both elements. Now, I’m going to use the second “tank” connection to power an electric heated towel rail. Remains to be seen how useful, or practical, that turns out to be. Mainly, like the idea that they can be controlled from the App.
