It’s an absolute myth that Bellingham is a great ball player. He’s not great in the build up or in possession. He is highly rated (overrated in my opinion) because he is athletic gets around the box and gets goals. Mainoo is much better on the ball than him. If Rice and Bellingham play in midfield we have no control over possession at all.

Agree, which is why I'd prefer Foden in the 10 because he IS great on the ball and can help build play. Without that we've inadvertently become a long ball team. Fantastic finish from Bellingham but I don't think that way of playing is sustainable. I think a player like Wharton may help and I hope he's in serious contention after this tournament. He's a different player to Mainoo and I'd like to see them together. They're both very calm on the ball.

100%. Far too predictable, doesn’t adapt, always puts on reactive subs that are too late. Just like Dalić did in the 2018 WC SF, Yakin will completely out coach Southgate this Saturday.

It's just prolonging the agony.. We are in the next round because of a couple of moments. I suppose Kane and Bellingham bring that lifeline but they're no match for Mr Southgate's gobshitery.

Absolutely crazy that he didn’t take Branthwaite, absolutely rapid, a unit, left footed and much better on the ball than Dunk. He consistently played through the lines for Everton.

Not one person talking about the shambolic ponderous defence, can’t remember a single time all tournament that one of the back 4 have played through the lines except one pass from walker in the first game. we’ve got half the team just stood around whilst those 4 and Rice just pass it sideways from left to right and back again.

Stones is supposed to be this great player on the ball but he is the worst one at refusing to play a ball forward, Walker has been ineffective and Trippier even worse. We might as well play a back 3 and have Gordon and Trent on either side of them, it's not like trying anything can be even worse than what we have now.

I agree but you also need a playmaker comfortable receiving it. I personally think Wharton was tailor made for it, it absolutely fits his skillset. Ah well, not gonna happen.

We are not in the next round because of Kane, we've struggled because of him (and Southgate)! It's Toney and Bellingham who have got us through.

Safegate has instilled a victim narrative witin this team. The team have been poor and the critique has been fair. The manager is so out of his depth it's embarrassing on th international stage to have him in charge.

We’ve won nothing in 58 years, one trophy in well over a century. There’s a theme there, managers and players aren’t good enough. A lack of a winning mentality, bottling the big moments. Southgate isn’t a top drawer manager, we’ve very few top class players. We are at the level of the Dutch, a 2nd tier nation - Spain, France, Germany, Portugal are top tier. Is winning nowt is nothing new.

The FA don't appoint the best person for the job. That's the root of the issue. The manager needs to be a politician and yes man as much as a football manager to them.

Stop blaming the managers and players. The English FA know how other successful footballing nations develop a team concept within that country. Ask them why then don't adopt it? The successful footballing nations start with a common training stragey, starting with the children countrywide. England start their strategy just before they enter the competition. It's a miracle they get as far as they do. It's time to wake up and start smelling the roses. I've been listening to this mind-numming nonsense for 40years.

Why is Saka just talked of like he's an automatic choice?!!! He's garbage!! He's part of the problem as he offers absolute zero outlet down the right flank. Never seen a right wide man so petrified at the prospect of having to take on the opposition left back. He's rubbish.

I disagree, he was the only player to get in behind the Slovakian back line. The problem is he's being doubled up on by defenders with no overlap from Walker so his only outlet is backwards. He did manage to take it past his man at least 3 times, wasn't his best game but Palmer came on and had the same problems as him and only lost the ball when trying to take it down the line

Big Sam & Steve Bruce & Gary Neville spot that Foden & Trippier own goal off side was awful in KO's. 99% game ender. So Don't bash sweet 🐝 Jude & Harry & Gareth who probably said a nice prayer & decided to keep on when they were v tired, 🐝 delivered the honey & Foden can't do it without ManC's 115 FFP con tricks funded expensive team. So help Gareth sort the left side out by doing yo prayers & meditations.
