Seriously though, I recently watched Moral Orel and XRA for the first time and I’m actually starting to understand and appreciate how experimental adult swim stuff is. When I was a kid I was scared of it, but as an adult I massively respect it.

I'm still waiting for the simple life lost media, there's a whole half hour of missing footage from the nudist colony. The first episode was the lost horse ranch episode but second episode was treated like the first on tv, so it was an hour long, so the second half is now missing.

one of the big issues with adult swim lost media is that even adult swim doesn't archive their own stuff. When they did an anniversary celebration one year they had to use a KZfaq re-upload of the classic Pool's Closed bumper because they didn't have it.

Yeah, that really floored me. (But sadly didn’t surprise me when I thought about it for a second.) If someone out there with old VHS or DVR recordings doesn’t have it it’s pretty much gone. There’s always the hope that it could be in someone’s personal collection, but again, it only takes one accident or something to happen to that and it’s just gone. Which I kind of feel is appropriate considering adult swim had its place and it’s time which I feel like is gone now. With the situation over there these days the only sadness is the fact there just won’t be much left besides memories when everything’s said and done.

The Alien story is most definitely episode 3 of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. It's a British Comedy Horror that was eventually aired on Adult Swim in the mid 2000s that is set in a hospital and in one episode a man gives birth to an eye monster in a scene that is very similar to what was described.

I believe I have an answer for the colostomy bag one. It's Muscle Man from Regular Show drinking a bag of brown gravy that he keeps on his side like a colostomy bag. Season 3, episode 25 called "Karaoke Video". I'm almost 100% confident in this one.

I'd need to go back and check the episodes, but it sounds like the first "hospital" story sounds like an episode of Garth Merenghi's Dark Place. Almost every episode opens with him looking at the camera, and there's a lot of weird gross-out horror humor.

My uncle was the head music producer for the boondocks, and definitely showed us the original pilot during a family get together when I was younger. It's definitely a copywrite issue, and Aaron McGruder didn't have a very happy departure with the series, so it's probably lost until he himself releases it 🤷🏾♀️

What sucks is Aaron McGruder was I believe back on board for the reboot (or whatever it was ) for HBO Max before the many many problems, befell that whole situation. I honestly hope we get some new boondocks (episodes) someday but I’m not holding my breath. Honestly, the first three seasons were great and I feel like the show did everything it needed and set out to do.

It's weird seeing something like a movie, cartoon, or bumper, that few to no people see as a kid, and then having that thing you saw sit in your mind, unable to find it again. And so it just sits there, as a fuzzy feeling in your mind, and there's a high chance that you are the only one who remembers that movie or bumper.

For me it was this super weird Rankin Bass stop motion Christmas special called The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. We had it on an unlabeled VHS taped from tv as a kid, so I could never remember the name. Just that it involved a baby Santa being raised by a female lion and some fairies, this big bearded Odin looking dude taking young Santa on a spirit journey to show him the follies of man where he watched young samurai in training, and medieval lord's being greedy, and a big battle between the fae and some ogre's at the end. I guess it's based on a story written by the author of Wizard of Oz. I found it years and years later on the Internet Archive. I think it's on KZfaq now too. It's pretty tripped out.

I was in the Nickelodeon MMO when that was a thing, and there was this weird CGI film they had playing where it had this astronaut kid and food made of human hands/fingers(?) Really freaked me out, but it’s sad knowing I’ll never know what it was.

I remembered seeing a cartoon show where a guy ran into a burning to see his girlfriend melting alive. You could hear him crying and screaming. I don't think this was a dream. I saw it twice. It scared me so badly that I ran to my mother crying in the dead of night. To be fair, I was not even ten years old yet. I'm almost positive it aired on adult swim as it was what my older brother put on every night.

1st one is Garth Marenghi's Darkplace Episode 3 "Skipper the Eyechild". It didn't come to streaming in US officially until 2021. It is very much a cult classic show and it is easy to see how you can be confused into thinking it was a bit.

For the coloscopy bag topic you covered, for some reason that makes me think of the show Lil Bush on Comedy Central. There was an episode that dealt with a "Pudding Pocket" where Lil Jeb Bush had a hole in the side of his body and every time he ate pudding it would just slip out of his body as if he never ate it (then they would sometimes eat it over again). Within the shows world they thought this was a good idea to eat but also never gain weight. Lil Bush was a strange show that only got two seasons but of all the episodes they had that's one of the few things I remember from it.

Did you know that show was originally made for a defunct cell phone service called AMP’d? (I think I’m remembering that name correctly) It was the single thing that was salvaged from that entire thing when the company went belly up. The show itself was pretty meh, it had a very of the time humor that has aged like fine milk.

Yeah, the early adult swim was truly the golden age. I know a lot of people look back at it because they were young kids or early teens, but even for us who were a bit older it’s really nostalgic.

I spent years of my youth high as a kite on God knows what, watching adult swim drifting in and out of consciousness until actual sleep was achieved. There were so many shorts or shows that woke me up out of a dead sleep to some horror that I could barely describe the next day, sometimes never to see again. I am not ashamed to admit that I have spent hours of my life looking for what some of these clips could have been. From my experience, the rule of thumb is; when in doubt it's probably an episode of Off The Air.

There’s this memory I have where In 2007/2008 I remember seeing the episode of Moral Orel when he turns the other cheek but when Orel beats up his mom I remember BYOB was playing while punching her and when his dad came in the music stopped and when he Orel beats up his dad the song starting playing again at the part of “why do they always send the poor” I might be misremembering it but I really want closure on this.

I don't think that was an episode, but rather a commercial for a new episode or for reruns. Or just for Adult Swim in general. They probably just used footage from the episode and edited in the music. That was pretty common around that time.

I mean, it’s weird because adult swim’s off kilter comedy came up exactly around the time you started seeingKZfaq really takeoff so it’s very possible that one of two things could be happening, a) that really happened but it wasn’t archived or b) it was a KZfaq poops, sort of situation, where someone dubbed music in later. Thought I do seem to remember a scene like this existing set to super hard music. And I do think it was an adult swim promo. Them just screwing around.

I remember a music video on AS that kept changing between live action and animation and it was some kind of weird story about an alien attacking a gas station or something. It was honestly pretty cool. Been trying to find this for years. It had to air between 2014-2016 as that's the last time I lived somewhere with cable tv. If I remember correctly, the animation style was similar to Superjail in a way. If anyone could help,that would be great.

I believe the Cartoon Network thing is a misinterpreted episode of Regular Show. In the episode "Karaoke Video" of Regular Show. Muscle Man, who is green, had snuck food into places by having a bag of gravy with an attached straw under his shirt, which he'd sip from.

Naruto wasn't on AS from 2006-2008 because Toonami was still a thing but was moved to Saturday nights (and didn't Toonami die in 2008?). The only similar anime on AS at the time was most likely Yu Yu Hakusho.

I remember seeing an anime were the intro scared me as a kid. It had mafia like guys shooting guns, some Rottweilers getting sent to attack people, a lot of blood. Can’t seem to find it though 🤷🏼♂️

I think my favorite adult swim one-off gag was in 2004 or 2005. March 31, midnight rolls around, so it's April 1. They start drawing mustaches on every character on every anime they were airing that night. I absolutely lost it in a shot where they panned across a bunch of cast members with one mustache on screen, and they moved it up and down to cover the upper lip of every character in the shot.

One of the best examples of not knowing whether it existed or if it was a weird fever dream was when adult swim did the april fools prank where they timed fart sounds into the entire block. All shows, both show rotations. I didn't think it was a real memory until a friend online confirmed it existed on youtube.

I remember this one show that aired when I was 15 called "Saul of the Molemen". It was during the time when Tim and Eric was gaining popularity, and it has the similar type of humor. However, the show wasn't very popular and I watched it on the site where it felt more like some "mysterious artifact". It was also advertised as a totally different show's first episode as "STRATA" which was ment to be a Star Trek parody. But the episode had all the characters die except for Saul who was in the background for those commercials. And like I said with the Tim and Eric comparison. It was exactly that. It was a total acid trip, but the show did have a story and was heavily serialized. Which might've made it harder to follow along. I bring this one up because I heard at one point it was considered Lost Media, but I imagine theres archives of it now.

That first one sounds exactly like the plot of episode 3 of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Dude gets porked against his own will by an eyeball monster, gives birth to said eyeball monster's baby and shows Dr. Rick Dagless holding the baby. I could see a kid watching this after futureama getting freaked out.

I’d guess that the colostomy bag sipping one would actually be the character looking at the contents of it and doing a sort of gulp of terror or whatever it’s called, the thing where cartoon characters look at something and then gulp afterwards because of how bad the situation is.

Peak Adult Swim was crazy...at the height of my insomnia I would watch both runs until 5am and sleep for a a bit befor I had to get up and go to school at 7 am...probably a major influence on my insanity.

There was one Adult Swim short a friend and I have tried to find for years that may be considered lost media. Adult Swim made a custom short for their panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2003 featuring characters from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It was before video recording was common on phones so not even a grainy recording has shown up.

It really was a something that had a particular time and particular place that I feel like has passed. Unfortunately, much of it was also lost one way or the other. I had a period that I didn’t get to watch and I realize that’s all completely gone now. I’m still hopeful people have their old VHS or DVR recordings laying around. Otherwise, this stuff is completely gone.

For the davie story, he may have been watching Mr. Meaty a canadian puppet cartoon. The character Mr. Meaty had a number of tubes leading to a tank with "body fluids" written on it.

Another piece of AS lost media is the script for the alternate ending to the Space Ghost Coast to Coast episode "Snatch." The original airing had a Colonial man telling viewers they could bid for a script of the alternate ending on eBay. Whoever ended up winning the script is unknown and it has not surfaced to this day.

One of my favorite adult swim shows was called 4am( or something like that). First time I saw it, I was recovering from surgery at home and on some heavy painkillers. I woke up and looked at the tv and the craziest stuff was on there. My first thought was,” geez, they must have given me some REALLY good stuff for me to be seeing crazy things like this on the tv.” 😳🤣

I've also unsuccessfully tried to dig up something from AS. It's a bump that was uploaded to their YT channel, where various characters from popular AS shows would run towards the camera, and tear off their skin to reveal a new character underneath. An instrumental version of "Panther like a Panther" (by Run The Jewels) played in the background. I'm guessing it was uploaded sometime between 2016 and 2018.

This is one bumper i remember vividly, and have not been able to find. This was around 2006-2008, there were clay numbers 7, 8, and 9, the number 7 had shark like teeth and was covered in blood. This number was also hovering over a bloody covered number 8, in the foreground there was number 9, scared and shaking hiding behind a wall. From what I could find it was never documented or maybe never even existed. I was only about 4-6 at the time so it could very well just be my imagination, although it is such a vivid memory I can't imagine it not being real. (edit: it also looked to be in the style of robot chicken, I have tried to find it through there, no luck as well)

A lot of the first stuff you describe sounds like what eventually would come to inspire the off the air show on adult swim, it was a bumper show that would have a theme like food, death, colors, it was compiled of clips of videos from the internet and most of them were disturbing or off-putting. I do remember in the early days of adult swim there were some weird random bumpers here and there.

One of my favorites was an ad for Morel Orel reruns being shown at 4:00am, I think, that featured a happy white dog with scrolling clouds behind it and the song "Here Comes the Lord" (that's probably not the actual name) playing in the background. It was just so random!

as a fan of the anime Excel Saga, I distinctly remember one of AS's bumpers that specifically mentions that they got tons of requests to air Excel Saga on AS, and that they apparently answered that there are fans among their staff and they wanted to, but it was among some anime they could not get permission to license for airing, and ended the bumper by apologizing for it. I just mention this becuase 1. I don't anyone else ever recorded this bumper and 2. God I would have loved to see the actual advertising and commercials they could have made for Excel Saga on Adult Swim

The one with the colostomy bag definitely sounds like an adult misinterpreting something. Beast boy for example is green with a beer gut sometimes, and doesn't have any sort of intestinal ailments. That sounds so adult of someone to see a green guy with a gut and assume they're sick.

I remember seeing an adult swim bump that I've never been able to find again. It was right after the Cowboy Bebop Netflix series was announced (so around 2017) and the bump was basically clowning on it and saying it would be awful (they were right lol). Never been able to find the bump again, though I did find a similar one a few years later about the One Punch Man live action movie from Sony.

I remember seeing a bumper (looked like it might've been animated by the folks who did "Superjail") where a biker is flying down the road and then wipes out. While lying on the ground, he stares at his amputated leg for a moment before his eyes dart over to a beer can lying next to it. Whatever the case, I immediately got the reference to a dialogue Dennis Hopper's character gives in the film "River's Edge", but I'm still not sure if I actually just dreamt the entire thing or not. I only saw it once.

Sometimes, my phone will start buzzing at work and I'll tell my coworker that it'll be someone screaming at me in Mandarin, and ask if I should pick it up. I know of a piece of lost Cartoon Network media from my youth. Cartoon Network in the early 90's had a mans hand as a network host. They had drawn a face on the side of the hand, and he wore a tiny cowboy hat. The specific "host moment" I remember of him was him supposedly sleeping, and in his sleep he is saying "Johnny Quest Johnny Quest" while covered in a blanket of toilet paper. He would talk just before commercials would start telling corny jokes, and introducing the next episode. I have looked every where for a reference to this character but I have come up totally empty handed. I know this existed but it's like someone scrubbed all reference to this from the internet.

5 years of first few years of adult swim=to about 15 to 30 years search for misplaced or lost media because some just were deleted some were only possible if you randomly recorded the block of shows and the tape didn't get stored in a wet spot or the dub of vintage cartoons only had so many episodes

I have to admit I was absolutely flabbergasted when I found out the original “all kids out of the pool, it’s adult swim”, intro was essentially lost. And adult swim had to basically find copies on the Internet in order to use it for their 20th anniversary. A bunch of stuff they used just got tossed out if it wasn’t recorded by someone on a DVR or VHS or something it’s lost and it’s probably not gonna ever be found it’s just gone.

About 2-3 years ago I was enjoy a lil hotel party and did a fair amount of acid that night. Well after everyone left and it was just me and my girlfriend, we popped on adult swim to relax and come down the rest of the night. This extremely weird show called “skeleton landlord” was on and it didn’t feel real thinking about it the next day couldn’t even remember what the name of the show was until I was tripping again and had to prove to my friends it was real, explaining it made me seem like I was losing my mind in a hotel room at 4am but it was real and made for a hilarious. Pretty sure there was only one episode and I understand why, it’s an experience when you aren’t expecting it in the line-up. Never seen it since, except on KZfaq when I searched for it of course.

It's possible the boondocks pilot has copyrighted material in it that makes it impossible to release like how gravity falls pilot had to be leak since it had a gorillaz song in it. The music is so important to boondocks that It's needed to sell it and most proof of concept don't have the means to get licenses so they just say "no copyright intended" and put the pilot in a safe never to be seen by the public.

I feel like the episode of Aqua Teen titled Boston deserves a nod. Yes, a version of the episode did eventually leak online (and it's a pretty hilarious gem to never have gotten to air), but it's not the final cut, and my understanding is that there is at least 1 or 2 other similarly incomplete cuts of the episode that haven't leaked, so I think it's at least worth a quick acknowledgement if nothing else.

It makes me so sad to see so many adult swim bumpers lost. There were some really creepy ones i saw as a kid where they would surgically remove small oranges out of bigger ones and there were other fruits too. i think this was around the time they were also airing those creepy quiznos commercials.

I remember some animated Christmas special that happened on (I think) Adult Swim some years back where it was just a bunch of Christmas shorts jumbled together. The only two skits I can remember was one where they sing the 12 days of Christmas but changing the lyrics to all have birds and then at the end the person cooks all the birds for Christmas dinner. And another skit being a kid that always dresses as Santa that sings Jingle Bells until one holiday he randomly says "Trick or Treat". Still can't find this cartoon.

I have a distinct memory of the first one with the hospital male birth alien one. growing up i had a tv in my bedroom and would often fall asleep watching AS. as other commenters have pointed out it could have been a short/promo from Dark Place but to me it seemed more like one of those random 2 min bumpers after a 15 min show like Home Movies or whatever... its definitely a fever dream like the skittles jizz commercial

my gf swears that there was an adult swim bumper around the time avengers infinity war was just releasing in theaters that just straight up spoiled two major character's deaths (like, the white text on black background, and it was a plain sentence like hey these characters die in infinity war), but no matter what i google, no one else has ever talked about it. i remember the moment she messaged me like "omg i think adult swim just gave me major infinity war spoilers i really hope its not true". it haunts me lmao
