Same here, and this must have been in the late late 90s / early 2000s - I also recall the art-style being similar to Angela but the character design was something more like 'As told by Ginger'. Maybe the girl had red hair? I feel like in braids? And the pimple was just tormenting her. I remember my mother finding the whole thing absolutely disgusting. Idk how it ended, but I don't remember anyone popping it? Or at least not in the way Whang described it. The new shoes one also seems to be familiar to me, but not as vividly.

Actually, taking a quick look at the "short films by short people" released by Nickelodeon so far, another one that is missing (I think) is a short film about a boy living some tall apartment complex, he tries to practice playing a brass instrument (I think a tuba?) but can't do it anywhere without annoying people in the complex. Eventually goes into a dark basement to play, and finds a bunch of other residents also practising there, and they proceed to play together. Was this a Nickelodeon thing? A Short Films by Short People thing? Or has it been released and I'm just misremembering it?

Ah I found it, it WAS Nickelodeon! Though not one of the Short films by short people, it was actually by Nickelodeon Australia. It seems it was part of of a series of 3, and the series is called "Snout". Just type "Snout Nickelodeon" in the search and you'll get 'em. Unfortunately, it seems only one of the shorts is uploaded in decent quality (and with audio that goes through both channels).

In our digitally cataloged, 'internet in my pocket', globally connected age, we are use to thing posted online being permanent. Its literally used as a warning to people to be careful what they post because it follows you forever. The concept of something disappearing seems impossible. Because now adays it kinda is. With so many people, if a thing is popular at all, someone ripped it. You can't disappear. So when something has, the foreign idea, it makes it feel like more than just happenstance of digital conversion. Its almost like it was erased from reality itself. Or maybe it was never there at all. It creates a kinda spooky feeling.
@ElysetheEevee

@@karenamyx2205 I agree. I think it's even weirder for those of us old enough to remember the era that the lost media was present in, too. I feel the same creepy vibe with lost media older than me, but it still doesn't hit like things I know I saw directly as a kid, and can now barely grasp onto. Or something you remember so well and can't find anyone else who does or any examples of it to qualm that anxiety, like you're going insane misremembering something (which, as someone with significant memory issues, is the worst feeling; as I age, I constantly have the most basic things at the edge of mind and can't recall them).

I have my own lost media! I was on some mtv show as an audience member with a friend. Guy host was blonde with short spiky hair. Around 1997-99 The scene was on Venice beach and he was being shot from a human canon into the sea. I swearrrr the show had a single name like “kablammo!” Or something maybe? I’ve looked all over different mtv show lists and nothing rings a bell! The friend I was with would totally remember, as she was very familiar with the show at that time, but I didn’t have mtv then, and knew nothing of it. I remember the short about the new shoes from an episode of Eureeka's Castle, which aired on the Nick Jr. block. No faces were shown in the bit. I remember the girl humming "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite as her mom was buying her some new shoes, followed by a montage of the young lady essentially destroying her new shoes while an orchestral recording of "Mountain King" was playing. There's one Nickelodeon commercial I've been looking for that's sort of lost - there's a version on youtube, but it's not the version I remember. It's apparently from 2002 and is referred to as the "Ultimate Nicktoon" commercial, as the commercial involves a bunch of Nickelodeon characters fighting to catch a ball to claim the title of ultimate nicktoon. It's in a Japanese/anime style and the characters use various unique powers. The key difference in the commercial available online and the one I remember is the voice-over. The whole reason I remember this commercial is something Patrick Star says: "Behold, the terrible Patrick "Danger" Star! I said behold!!!" I thought that was funny as a kid and I've been quoting it with my sister ever since. But when I tried looking for this commercial, I could only find a version which didn't have those lines at all. He just says "Krabby Patty power!" as he powers up and that's it. Edit: also, I did find at least one other person online who posted about remembering the same version I do, so it isn't just me.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that for those of us who grew up in the 90's that "lost media" used to be the norm? It was so awesome finding something you saw air once and told your friends and finally getting to show them and vise versa! Now (mostly) everything is preserved and I'm not saying if it's better or worse. But! That's what was special about that time. Having your friend SWEAR to you they saw Liu Kang drop a MK arcade on him as a fatality, or your friend SWEAR that one time Steve Austin actually had a wall of glass break when his music hit before an entrance. Or my friends saying some shit like, "Dude, stop talking about Surf Ninjas. There is no movie where they play real fights on a game gear, it's not fucking real!" I think this is why we all love lost media so much, finding these things is always so awesome.

Regarding the girl with the shoes short - yes it exists. I used to see that on Nick a lot. Around '96 makes a ton of sense, as I was watching a ton of Nickelodeon shows at that time, but not really in the years prior to that. One detail I remember from that short is that the girl started describing the different seasons and what she'd do with her shoes during them. During the Winter, she'd have her shoes on, but also have boots on over them, which I found to be really odd and thus probably why this short sticks out in my memory.

This is not that short. What you are describing is the short Isadora's sneaker that showed up on Sesame Street. The one mentioned in the post was a separate live action short seen in Eurkeeka's castle, though most of the episodes, at least in their first run are considered lost media. In that one the shoes themselves were talking (with the toecaps as a mouth) and going on about the year they had. They were hitops similar to chucks, but were not the same pair. Since this short showed up a lot, as did the episode of eureeka's castle in the early 90s and most of us late 80s/early 90s kids saw this a lot it could have fused the two a little.

It’s not Kablam. It’s a live action short and it was produced in Saskatchewan, Canada. I remember it vividly (the ending that it). The girl finally decides to pop her huge pimple since she has a date that day but when she finally gets the courage to pop it, her date knocks on the door. She hesitates but answers it. Her date also happens to have a huge pimple and they walk out of her house holding hands. Cut to the credits with the Canadian girl saying something along the lines of “made by kids, for kids”. Hope this helps you

There's this movie I've been trying to find for almost 15 years. It's a romantic movie. It's about a homeless guy that draws and when he draws it kinda comes to life. It looks similar to take on me by aha. It's definitely from the 90s. He falls in love with a girl that isn't homeless. He was kinda more of a panic pixie and she was kinda plain. Damn, for *_Ibid,_* that snake game, Whang didn't include what I emailed him about: it was also on a product of the short-lived company *Micro Star,* _"300 Great Games for Windows 95"_ (that actually did have a few great ones I fondly remember, like _Castle of the Winds)._ That cheap CD was sold in the US (where I remembered playing _Ibid)_ as well as another "300 GG's for Win98" one. The thing is, that company's business was just stealing other peoples' software, and as a result, they only lasted a few years. What put them under was, instead of stealing small fries' games, they made a compilation of fan-made Quake maps and sold that as their own, and got sued into oblivion. What was comically funny and frustrating is about two weeks before Whang did the "snake game" video, my mother had found exactly that old "300 Games" CD in the original beaten up box in an old computer desk, and asked me if it was worth keeping, and I almost said "yeah" but then I thought "nah, I know all of the _actually good games_ on that I can find online, toss it out". What timing, though.

There was a montage of fading parents teachers telling her "Don't pop the pimples it's bad, blah, blah, blah" and one of them was one-eyed best friend who was like "Gross... Can I touch them?" So I've done some research into these Nickelodeon lost archives. As it turns out Viacom probably does have a copy of everything that was ever on nickelodeon. The problem being is licensing issues. A lot of it they can't redistribute because they don't own licensed to for the license is expired. Prior to the creation of Paramount plus which hosts all of the new Nickelodeon and old Nickelodeon content, I was part of a group of people who were trying to preserve early and previously lost Nickelodeon TV shows. One of the most popular that was completely unavailable was 15. There were no VHS releases no DVD releases. We reached out to Viacom multiple times trying to get an answer to whether or not the show still exists in the archive. We never got a response. I did however connect with somebody who claims to have worked at the Nickelodeon studios. Their claim is that everything was archived. Once Nickelodeon became Nickelodeon from the previous Network called pinwheel everything was locked away in their fault. Later that metaphorical vault would have been purchased by Viacom in all contents transferred to them. Again, I cannot confirm any of this 100%.

Actually the stop motion short you're thinking of may be the Seseme street short called Isadora's sneakers. Like the one discussed here it involves a pair of high top sneakers, but the sneakers were talking themselves about their year. The shoes themselves were puppets too I think with their toecaps cut to make it look like they could talk. The technique used was stop motion. This short in the clip is from. Eureeka's castle, in which a girl gets a new pair of pink chucks (and throws away what I recall to be a beat up pair of Reeboks) and essentially going through the a run around her town while we get a POV view of the shoes getting worn down.

The Jack O'Lantern short is definitely out there online. Or, at least, it was. I remember it airing when I was a kid and I stumbled across it again many years ago while trying to find the name of another Halloween special. it's only a few minutes long. In the morning when the pumpkins are destroyed, I remember a Jack O'Lantern rolling into the water and exploding. And there's a moment when the narrator explains that some of the Jack O'Lantern's go out big and others sputter out (I don't remember the exact words) and we see one pumpkin blow up with a big explosion and another that has several small firecracker pops. I wish I could remember where I found it. You could try posting the question on Kindertrauma. They specialize in nostalgic scary stuff. EDIT: Could it have been a segment on an episode of Turkey Television?

Love your videos! I was browsing the list of your Lost Media videos and this one caught my eye because.... I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING For THE DAMN NICKELODEON PUMPON HALLOWEEN SPECIAL! I am 32, born in 1991. I remember some kind of halloween special with talking pumpkins. It was not a cartoon.... Your reference of stop animations sounds accurate for that one. I was very young but for some reason I remember one of the pumpkins or main pumpkin being named "Pumpky". I felt so validated when you brought up the Nickelodeon halloween shit... I, too, have searched for this and every time I find literally nothing. It feels like a fever dream but it's the Nickeodeon Lost Media I am most desperate to find. If it indeed came out in 1988, I can see how it would be replayed in the earlier 90s. My memory of watching this was in an old house before we moved. I moved in first grade, so I would have seen it before 1997. I'm glad someone else has already mentioned this to you. They had more memory to go off of. It didn't seem to be a commercial or bumper, I think it was its own thing. Anyway, the fact you even mentioned it is wild. It lives rent free in my head.

There was one book I remember from my elementary school library that had beautiful if somewhat frightening illustrations. It was about a small Chinese village about to be attacked by Huns. A small old man wanders into the village and tells the elders that he's really a dragon and will repel the Huns away if they give him food and a place to sleep. The elders laugh at him and kick him out, but a young boy takes pity on the old man and lets him sleep in his house and gives him some rice. Then next morning, the old man blows the Huns away with just his breath, then transforms into a dragon in front of the whole village. I remember the illustrations of the Huns being particularly scary as a kid.

My holy grail of Nickelodeon Lost Media.... I want to know where that "Lost Episode Of Ren and Stimpy" commerical went? Some other people HAVE to remember this, right? I can't find any videos of it anywhere on KZfaq, making me believe no one saved it... but for about 2 weeks leading up to the infamous delayed episode Black Hole/Stimpy's Invention, Nickelodeon ran commercials constantly for what they called "The Lost Episode Of Ren and Stimpy" that they were going to be airing out of season, and wanted to make sure no one missed it. The commercial began with "Just when you thought it was lost, Nick found it..." and would go on to hype it up as a lost release that was being brought out, and it ended with a small preview of the Happy Happy Joy Joy dance from the end of the episode. As a bit of an obsessive R&S fanatic, and researcher, i've been looking for this commercial for ages since the day I first saw it. I'll never forget it. The thing is, that it's rare and no one seems to have recorded it, as far as I know, because it only ran for about 1 week or 2 weeks leading up to the premiere of Black Hole/Stimpy's Invention being aired after the original season 1 had ended, because of the well-documented delay of the episode in which John K was micro-managing the episode and taking way too long to get it done, thus missing it's original airdate by several months. I remember being incredibly hyped for this as a kid, even more so since it went on to be my favorite episode of the entire original Nickelodeon run. It's also INCREDIBLY important as a visual record of one of the most important events in the show's development, that illustrated the behind-the-scenes issues as well as the late airing of what many people consider the show's best episode. I really that ANYONE who recorded Nickeloden on VHS tapes at the time might have that commercial sitting on one of their old tapes somewhere. I used to have it as I taped almost every episode to VHS myself back in the day and caught part of the commercial too, but long since later, taped over it, unfortunately. If this were to turn up on KZfaq or something, i'd be really happy.

I remember these kinds of animations from Nickelodeon back then. Used to watch them alongside MTV. They were trippy and some of them freaked me out as a kid. Now as an adult, I appreciate their brilliance (or so I think) and I like to think that 80s-90s Nickelodeon/MTV was a springboard for animators as well as a less restrictive platform for macabre ideas.

@@debayeuxchats5607 Okay, so, And Now This was actually the name of two specials made by Nickelodeon with the same rough premise, the first airing in 1997 and hosted by Rosie O'Donnell, and the second airing in 1998 and hosted by Coolio. The one with Coolio was found in late 2019 and is on the internet archive, but the only clips of the first exist from the company that made the puppets for the specials, Big Nazo. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole back in 2016 trying to find this thing because I had a vivid memory of one of the puppets, which was sort of a Big Bird-esque puppet with a puppet head and the rest of the character being the entire puppeteer's body, except instead of a friendly yellow bird it was an ugly rat man named Ratzo. I did a drawing of him and it awakened a lot of people's memories so I got a lot of help in tracking this thing down. I'm hoping to find the entirety of the first part someday, which is one that a friend of mine has seen, but I have no memory of. The search was aided by users from Tumblr and the Lost Media Wiki. Before I started asking around in 2016 there was barely any discussion of it online, so it was lost for over a decade. I just really want to get my hands on that first part and put this thing to rest.

Was the pimple short referring to an episode of life with loopie? I think there was an episode about the brother having a pimple.

HOLY SHIT that pimple animation. I remember that, especially the radiation part! I'm not 100% sure, but the "radiation" was some kind of green paste. Funny because later in my early teens, recalling this animation, I attempted to stand in front of the microwave so that "the radiation would destroy my pimples" (I had no idea how microwaves work idk) It's so surreal to finally recognize something that's now lost media, this is the first time. I live in the Philippines too, and CN and Nick used to have shows that don't air here, crazy that I managed to see this one.

The talking pimple short sounds like something from a variety show segment All I can think of that might fit is the Life with Loopy segment from KaBlam!

I 100% remember the kid with the sneakers short. It had to be late 80's/early 90's. I believe it was on a show called Eureeka's Castle. I wanna say the sneakers looked like pink Converse.

100% correct on all counts. I last recall seeing it mid early 2000s on Noggin when randomly seeing it one day, and recall seeing it originally in the early 90s a Toddler.

"SFBSP" interstitials: One of those rare "Lost, but recently Found Media" that I wish would STAY lost forever especially the ones that showed me visual examples of the words "Cringe" & "Trauma". (Like for example, the short about the "future and how almost everyone/everything moves in stop-motion/pixilation" and the short where the kids ran away from then chased after and killed a bird that looks like a "rejected" Sesame Street character.)

I remember a show that had a puppet style and took place in a high-school, it included an episode I remember specifically where a dude gets so embarrassed he gets dragged to hell. I think the main character had a red jacket of sorts?

That description of the puppet pimple actually sounds like the Amanda Show. It was a sketch comedy show but also included segments with stop motion, that was one of them

Must be a strange coincidence but there was a short animated TV special in the UK called Pumpkin Moon from 2005, about pumpkins coming to life on Halloween night and flying around the town doing battle with evil 'witches'. There's also one scene where a candle from a pumpkin gets extinguished, losing its life source and falls onto a road where a car narrowly avoids it.

Lost Media is something I’ve always found to be interesting. I’ve heard of some stuff about certain shows, movies or specials that were on Nickelodeon at one time and then never aired or talked about much afterwards, so it’s cool to see you do a video on the topic Whang. Keep up the great work!
