Patrick and Stuart continue their countdown until Christmas with this special episode on the third Sunday of Advent. Patrick shares some of his German family traditions and Christmas decorations, and they visit some local marchés de noël (Christmas markets).

In my faith (RC) the third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday and the candle is pink which represents Joy! The four candles of Advent names are Hope, Love, Joy and Peace. The first two Advent candles are usually purple, This is the beginning of Advent when we are "in repentance and contemplate of our sins". The pink Advent candle is joy and comes before the final white candle which represents Christ's purity and love. Sorry for the long desceiption. Beautiful decorations and the old ones mean so much.

Hi Doc. Such a true comment. I have memories coming to me with every item I place. Comments my grandparents made, food we ate, my granny telling me stories of her grandparents ….. I miss them but with these items, I feel I am a still connected. Thank you, bless you and much love from Colombe. 🎄🥰💖

I lived in Germany twice, in the Frankfurt area and in Berlin. I bought some Christmas decorations in East Berlin. I have a large Christmas pyramid. I absolutely love it.

Hi Patrick and Stuart I love all of the decorations from your grandparents and mum and dad they are beautiful you can’t get decorations like that any more and they bring back so many memories that you both have of your families and Christmas together the chateau is looking so festive and as the years go by you will both be able to add to them and make your own memories of decorating the chateau and the French market was lovley

I love all the old family Christmas ornaments, my husband's mum was German and we have quite a few of her things, but the baubles are so delicate, so I don't always use them. My husband always lights one of the small candle holders to remember each year. We have gathered new treasurers over the years so hopefully will pass them on.

Hi Joy. The old ornaments are fantastic. Nothing like it today. I agree, they are delicate, but we should use them (in a safe place 😳😉). I love the lighting of the candle in remembered everything. We hold hands and remember before dinner on Christmas Eve. I will add the candle. Thank you so much. 🥰🎄🥰

Your great grandmother's pyramid is amazing. I would get a cabinet with glass sides and door, and put it in and leave it together all year, but the cabinet will keep off the dust and hands.

I love German Christmas ornaments and your ancestral Christmas ornaments and traditions, Patrick!! Thank you so much for sharing them with us!! Germany has such a rich history of Christmas celebration and it just fills my soul!! Stuart, not leaving you out, you and I and Patrick as well, have experienced the American "over the top" celebrations for the holidays, and craziness leading up to the Christmas season (trees up on Thanksgiving ..yikes!!) LOL!! You both have done a superb job with the decorating!! Everything has been so carefully and thoughtfully placed!! Dearest Jane. Thank you so much for your heartfelt and deeply loving comment. What a treat. And indeed…. The over the top Christmas craze was too much in the US. Everything here is scaled back and we enjoy it a lot. The ornaments, some over 120 years old, mean a lot to us. We did think a lot about what to place where and not to be over the top. So lovely you have your Grandparents Christmas decorations they still live on with you both and are so well made for the test of time. I find that when I'm dressing my tree I have happy memories of my ornements who have given them to me I have two glass birds the tails feathers have long gone that were my Mother's and she passed away in 1968 . That was special Patrick as you shared some of your family's Christmas treasures. My children had a similar structure and the heat from the candles made it turn as well as making a light bell sound....it was from Germany as well! Don't know what happened to it which is a shame. I have several smokers from my family in Dresden. I am blessed to have visited the Christmas markets in Dresden and have been in Seiffen. I have never seen a hanging pyramid. That is beautiful! My family have one that sits on the floor that is nearly five feet tall. Patrick, you make me miss my family in Germany so much!

Great Mystic Winter Intro. I have been to Germany many times before Christmas. I reconignise these kinds of Christmas decorations. It's typical Germanen or Austrian. They are delicate and beautiful. I can understand that you trearisch these items.🥰

How exciting to wake up and catch you guys and everyone else. It has been a lovely start to my day. And feeling a little behind here as well... Most of my Christmas is conducted outside as I feed a lot of people, but winter has not let go yet and still has a good grip on us. Summer officially started on the 1st of December here in Australia... we are still being battered by massive storms and heavy rain here in Melbourne!!! I am going to be pushing hard up to the last minute. But I love it all... Thank you for the beauty to have shared..

Absolutely gorgeous , I too have some ornaments from Germany a friend gave me , I love xmas 🎄 😍 and decorating .. we choose a theme each year for tree this year it was my daughters and choose Nightmare before Christmas 🎄 and next year is Australian bush Xmas tree... love them all ❤ Patrick how tall my son is 6 foot 5

That was delightful, the little angel candlesticks are so cute, the pyramid is lovely, well it's all lovely. Usually, little hairy things scurrying around the hallway, is not a good thing LOL, but I loved that too xx

Oh my the Christmas tree is stunning and to have all your wonderful Christmas decorations from family on the piano is just so so beautiful . Loving the trees in pot stands by the door and the wreaths. You’ve gone all out guys. Aaaaahhhh!!! I do love Christmas🎄. Wow! The booths at that market yummy chocolates, macaroons, preserves, cheeses. Glorious guys. Love your videos ❤

Good morning Patrick & Stuart, you have done yourselves very proud with the Christmas decorations. The old antique ones are so special! They must be treasured year after year, as you said, just memories from dear family members who are no longer with you. The piano really looks stunning and the lights under the throw is different. I think an ideal corner to display the special personal decorations. The pudding was a lovely gift, the without nuts made me chuckle. How different we all are in our tastes! It is perfect to buy traditional bake treats if no time to make your own. All the tree decorations are very beautiful, they will become treasures in time as well. It was a delightful video, thank you for sharing with us also, the music was special. Enjoy each day, take care.
