As a kid in 1954, we went on a trip up the Fal River from our holiday base near St Mawes, and saw a similar sight of big ships laid up, only then they were ex WWII "Liberty ship" freighters, and tankers. As you experienced, a very eerie encounter, crewless and rusting amid the greenery. I'm "binge-ing" on your whole voyage, having first watched your West Coast of Scotland adventures, an area I remember well from visits in the 1980's to sail aboard the "Puffer" VIC 32, and staying for a week on the remote northern tip of Jura. Crinan is an amazing place, and to navigate the Crinan Canal aboard the type of ship which regularly used it in its commercial heyday was quite an experience and a privilege. I remember visiting the Mishnish Bar at Tobermory having crossed from Oban to Mull by CalMac ferry. At that time it was patronised by sub-aqua explorers looking for the fabled (or mythical) "treasure galleon" which was supposed to have been wrecked somewhere near Ardnamurchan Wonderful films by you and your "crew".

The Fal is the most beautiful navigable river on the south coast. Ran up to the pontoon at Malpas to ride out a storm in 2018 and woke the following morning to the breathtaking scenery, minus the big ships, you filmed. Looking forward to getting back soon.

I heard your comment on cheap sunglasses and l thought yeah he may not know that they are terrible for your eyes. It tricks your eyes into believing they are safe, but in reality it's the opposite. You really need a pair that are rated UVA and UVB rated. Buy the best, do not cheap out on your eyes. As well as that then there is they are not optically correct which also can lead to damage. Best sunglasses on the market imo are Maui Jims and Persol. Maui Jims are 100 % optically perfect.
