I lost my wife of 43 years to cancer three years ago. I am sixty nine now and basically have been marking time until I can go and join my wife. Your video touched a chord within me, you are so right, life is what you make it. I have been inspired by what you have said and have decided its time to start living again. I will never forget my wonderful wife, I know that she would not like me sitting around waiting to die, so, for whatever time I have left, I am going to embrace life. Kind of on topic. My Dad used to be in a famous band and he pushed me into being a drummer. I was taught by a famous drummer myself (at expense) but my heart wasn't in it. I'm not even beginning to, nor will name drop. I just appreciate your comments. Sometimes you just don't feel ready. Am I a good drummer? The guy who taught me, said I was was better than he ever was. The point is. You do and go with what your heart feels and I for one, am glad you came here and that video really hit me hard as I have been through a few similar experiences. Awww you're such a sweetie. Canada's loss is our gain. I left 'home' at a young age (16) and have since worked throughout the world, during which time I formed lasting relationships with many people from many countries. With the exception of two good friends - whom even now I'd love to recontact - I've been lucky enough to hold on to every single one of my friends and family from throughout my entire life, including my school days (I am now nearing retirement age). Home is where the heart is, as they say. For me, home is in plenty of places and times across the planet. My Great Grandfather had two sons. One left England to move to Brantford Ontario and the other (my Grandfather) remained here in England. So we have two large branches to our family tree, but 4 generations later we are connected by social networking. My lifelong connections, friends and relatives, facetime me from the different places where they are living around the world. I feel as if I am still connected each day with much of my life and I love it. I wonder if 'home' is simply a geographical place or is it much more complicated than that? I'm not sure if that question is important actually. Only academically. What I do know, is that our riches are in our relationships and I would recommend that you never lose even a single one of them if you can help it.

Lovely video. I emigrated to the UK 30 plus years ago and have loved it. Eventually, you will find that your "original" home becomes more alien to you - so going "home" on visits becomes more and more alien. I'm from Ireland and the Ireland of 2018 is a very different place to the one I left in 1986. I bet you will find that Ontario in years to come will become a very different Ontario to the one you left behind.

Alanna, that was quite a contrast to the pudding tasting session. Something I've found on my travels is that regardless of the regime, type of government etc people are pretty much the same; they want to earn money to pay the bills, put food on the table, clothe the kids and have a good time. One big advantage of social media is the ability to stay in contact despite the vast distances between loved ones; some of my family who emigrated to the USA in the 1860s never had that and never saw the native contingent ever again. A couple of things; 1. I didn't see Norwich in your montage. You must visit. 2. Don't worry about getting emotional on camera, you've got 23,000 subscribers happy to buy you a drink- that would be one hell of a night.

Thanks for bringing some sunshine into sometimes dreary days :) The saying "Home is where the heart is" is true and going "Home" after living away can be both comforting and unsettling. What a lovely moving video milestone. I’ve watched you over the last three years while going through my own quite different life changing time and I have to admit you got me in tears too. It’s doubly moving as my own kids are approaching the age where they will go off on their own life adventures. I've decided that I know why I like your channel Alana. It's a conversation. So many channels are so opinionated and preach at you. Your's is a conversation which I want to jump into all the time. It's an absolute delight. My home hasn't been home for over 40 years and although it is still in the family, my niece lives in it now, she has remodelled it so much that it is no longer the house I was brought up in either. I moved from Aberdeen to Glasgow and that became home for 10 years, and then I moved to London with my wife and this has been home for 35 years. I don't consider anywhere else home now. But I totally understand the tears. Just sometimes that feeling of longing or loss of something of your childhood creeps up on you and takes you by surprise. Another fantastic video. Thanks .

When I lived in the UK for a few years after moving from Australia, I was amazed at the strange little things British people seem to know about Oz. Like they all knew this old kid's show called 'Round the Twist' that every kid in Australia grew up on. I was like "how in the actual hell do you know about that?!" - also the marmite/vegemite rivalry is fierce. The Brits are so proud of their products and so are the Aussies, when they're essentially the same thing. My favourite thing about the UK was getting trains around the country though. The stations are all so impressive and watching the beautiful countryside rush by is like heaven to an Aussie.

Congrats on being in the UK for three years! We are lucky to have you here. I understand how you got emotional talking about going home. My husband is Italian and has lived in the UK 15 years next month. Very little has changed where he comes from, but he has changed just as you have. It's ok to get emotional, it's a huge step to move to another country and start afresh. I admire you for making that change.
