Quite the opposite, many in the free cities would look with horror the return of the Dragon lords, him and his sister would be target of many assassinations to get rid of them. Besides, his conquer of the seven Kingdoms accomplished what you claimed with only dorne as an opposition.

@jmra99 while original commenters alternate scenario is very interesting, and I would love to read it as a fanfic, but it woulnt have worked in main continuity, if I remember correctly, in some free cities, free hold have valyrians appointed in supervisor or governor like positions, when news of doom reached those free cities they killed those valyrians and declared independence. Only surving dragonlord in essos declared himself emperor of valyria and march to the city with with his 30k men and dragon and they were never seen again. So I dont think one would welcome that 100 years after the doom only surviving dragonlord trying to restore the freehold, yes another comment is right he would be target of many assassinations and wars, probably it would not be century of blood but millennia of blood. This is one of the reasons for aegont o join against volantis. Other reason would be If i remember correctly volantis wants wars to conquer all free cities while rest of the cities juat wanted their independence, so by siding with them he helped restore a new political atability and peace to essos which would not have been seen since the doom of valyria. A stabel essos means stable westeros otherwise if volantis soemhow managed to conquer all free cites how long before they would set their sight on dragonstone and rest of the westeros, who woulnt love their own dragons. Lastly aegon dont view essos as his home he saw it as a past that he should be moved on not trying to restore. He was a good fighter but dont love it only did it when necessary. He even joined the allaince after great persuasion. Now we knwo about his dream ww knwo that this also played deciding factor starting his conquest of westeros.Its not revealed that when he had this prophetic dream so I cant commwnt on whether his dream had any influence on him joining the alliance against volantis.

@@jbatts834 maybe, but from Aegon,s perspective it was. They were minor during the valerian empire, now they are the only entity with air power. Especially after king jaehery’s death. They owned 22 dragons. More dragons than there were Targaryens to ride them. From running the numbers no dragon lord family owned 22 dragons among the 40 families. Some had more than others but not 22. Also, if you google a map of the valerian empire pre the doom and you see the size of it compared to westoros huge size under unification, it’s bigger than the valerian empire. So probably technology wise, and wealth wise and control of global trade then yes they weren’t better than the empire if you use that perspective. But from Aegon’s, they got the air power(only westoros got an aiforce), fielding the biggest ground infantries, and unified land mass in his head yes. So when he broke volantis , and kept the free cities scattered he doesn’t have to worry about any threats from them and made sure nobody in the free cities can launch an invasion on westoros. But technology wise and wealth wise all technology secrets were lost with the doom. And wealth wise yes. From reading the books king jaeherys master of coin, one man, from across the narrow sea had more money than the king, but as a military power and those dragons with the black dread as his mount ,yes Aegon is greater than the empire which is why it’s rumored he chose the side of the free cities instead of volantis.

yeah, I cant see him as Aegon the Conqueror at all. Maybe a young Robert Baratheon, but not Aegon. I think the only reason people got that idea is because they saw him with long white hair in the witcher. So every long white haired character is now Henry Cavill.

@@paulievespucci6867 ikr. But ironically it is precisely because of him as geralt that i think he should not be aegon. Geralt (in both the tv and games) always prioritizes ciri the special girl. Aegon is not the type to do that. There is no one special in grrm, that he/she should be prioritized above the kingdom/realm/business. It is always the realm/family name/ legacy. Since the individual is never greater than the group, much less can an individual be special in a metaphysical sense like ciri. So when i see gentle fatherly geralt in ruthless aegon, i cringe.

@@KhaliqahAzima for me, it is not the lack of handsomeness that is the problem; it is cavill’s (geralt’s) weakness vibes that renders him unworthy to play a conqueror. Geralt, whom Cavill is passionate about, is the type of guy who can follow a cult centered around “the special person (ciri)” so much so that even his lover yennefer cannot reach him in that regards. Aegon, or any Valyrian, would not suffer themselves to fanatically worship even their own gods. Valyrians dont fear their gods
