This has been fun to watch. I haven't seen anyone else doing this, and YT woodworking channels are notorious copy cats. Been loving this channel and I really enjoy your presentation style.

Thanks I appreciate that. Yeah I try to come up with my own stuff. I actually have stopped watching other peoples KZfaq channels just so it’s not influencing what I’m doing!

Rikon and jet have nice new lathes but turing is super fun any seem to have some money maybe spoil yourself with a nova. Harvey also has some good ones if you want to try and get a sponsor.

Enjoyed the video, and picked up some more good ideas...thanks. Now, I'm not (yet) a lathe guy...but Rikon would be worth checking out, as they have a few to choose from, depending upon objectives and budget. I see you already have at least one Rikon tool, so you know they produce quality tools. Cheers.

Ha ha! Well shoot I wish I would’ve made it a little better then! It’s not really something I’m going to use. I’m gonna use the rest of it for additional lumber storage, but I thought it was a good idea to just kind of illustrate for people some options.

It would be really neat if the legs folded out from underneath. That way you don’t need sawhorses or have to store sawhorses or find a place to store them. Great video very interesting concept.

Thanks! Yea this was just to explore some options for other people with the sawhorses. I’m personally going to be sliding my big assembly table under it when I want to bring it down as a workspace. I totally agree with the full down legs other than adding the additional weight, but finding some cool metal option that doesn’t weigh very much would be a great option for it!

Ive got the older 10" delta midi lathe that I picked up for almost nothing. Its runs like a champ but Id definitely reccomend a 12 or even 14" swing if you think bigger bowls /platters/vessles are something your interested in. Also belt switching is a pain so get a variable speed if you can. All the midi lathes from jet, delta,rikon, rockler etc are pretty similar so its mostly an issue of how much swing you want and variable speed

Who have fun with the saw! Assembly process takes forever making sure you get it perfectly level. Yeah I really love the ceilings. It gives me a lot of options.

I don't know if you ever mentioned or showed it but do you have your garage heated?
@BitnerBuilt
@BitnerBuilt 4 ай бұрын
I literally just installed a mini split this week for air and heat, prior to that I had two infrared heaters but man they cost sooooo much in electricity. I keep the shop in nj 65 constant with those and it was costing me 700 a month in added electric (over what I pay in fall) the mini split should be a fraction

@@BitnerBuilt yeah I am in PA (same weather) and I don't know what to do. $700 / month sounds wild. We have a 4700sqft house + electric car and we are around $300 a month, so I don't want to add another 700+ to heat up my garage. The garage is also not the best isolated one. But the cost to make it better is almost not worth it.

@@WoodyWoodworker so I have a electric car as well and a heated pool that’s heated year round. we have solar in the solar during the summer is around $50 a month, it only gets up to that crazy number with those infrared heaters. I’m hoping that the mini split only runs me about $50-$100 a month. It’s crazy efficient and will heat up the entire garage from 50° to around 70 in about 20 minutes. Which means I don’t have to run it all the time I’ll let you know after I get my next bill what I run at. It was also only $700 for me to buy it and install it myself 18,000 BTU. I technically only needed 12,000 but I figured I’d oversize itsince your garage I’m super heavily insulated

@@BitnerBuilt yeah an update on this would be nice. My main problem is a space problem. I don't know where to put a mini split, I think we have to redo some Landscape work first. But don't know if that will help though.
