Thanks for the tips - in the comments too. I'll try and setup a water tank myself because here in germany they're not orderable. Wish me luck!

Good luck! They are pretty simple to make yourself, so I'm sure you'll get it working! You can even make a larger water container so it lasts for a lot longer.

Great video and great idea! :0)I have several AG's I'm in the process of setting up. They have the Aerovoir on sale today on the website. Gonna buy two so I can keep four AG's going. I was worried about keeping up with water for some of the plants I intend to grow. Glad I found this video. I can only afford so much. This is perfect timing for me.

Just got this setup, when I put my nutrients in I Siphon the old water out and add new. Can I still do that with the aerovoir setup or will it mess it up by doing that? Thanks.
@st8kout9616 жыл бұрын
They should have perhaps included an on/off valve for when you want to change out the water in the bowl as is sometimes recommended.
@earthling19846 жыл бұрын
Just take the top water jug off. Then raise the AeroVoir slightly so it drains fully into the AeroGarden. Then you can remove it and do whatever maintenance you want to the AeroGarden. Also, you can add a valve simply if you want. The lines are the same as fish tank air hose lines, so any fish tank valve will work and cost almost nothing.

Great video! I assume the tubing is fish tank air line tubing, but where did you source the Y splitter?

Got it on amazon I believe, but, you can find them in any pet shop as well.

Would you reccomend wrapping the water bottle with foil paper to avoid algae from the grow lights shining into the resevoir?
@earthling19844 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any problems with that. Tap water should not contain much, if any, nitrite and phosphate. So, algae shouldn't grow easily. I've had zero algae in my reservoir. But, you sure could wrap it if you wanted. Or another idea. Get some spray paint of a color you like, take it out in the grass, and give it a nice paint job.

it that tin foil being used for more light? i have a 6 pod aerogarden and just started growing peppers i was going to buy the shield but reviews weren't that good
@earthling19846 жыл бұрын
Yes. Instead of purchasing the expensive branded sun reflectors I just used tin foil. It seems to help a bit. But, I don't use these often anymore, because I prefer to see my plants.

what is the inner diameter of the hose you are using? and the outer diameter of the y connectors are you using?
@earthling19846 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I'd have to check that. But, it is standard fish air tube size. That's what I used, fish air tube from the pet shop.
@mikegosselin16346 жыл бұрын
the hose that i got has 3/16" inside diameter

Where did you get the Ys or splinters from.
@earthling19844 жыл бұрын
I got online. But, you can also get at the fish section of most pet shops. Same size tubing as fish tank air tubing.

+Anangke yea and no...if you live alone (or 2 people) it helps but if you want to feed the house you would need alot of them (i am in a house of 3/4 and 2 dogs) and i have 8 of them and it saves alot...plus side is you eat healther to

richard mitchell Thank you I was just wondering. Seemed like alot of effort to set up :)

+Anangke They are super easy to use, super easy to setup. The salad greens produce like crazy! I have enough salad for my dragon, birds, girlfriend, and me! The jalapenos and cherry tomatoes I have yet to see how much is produced. It won't feed your family in terms of everything you need to eat, but, it is nice, and provides a lot.

Hello, I have two Aerogardens. I'm going on vacation for a week in August, so I ordered 1 of the Aerovoir's so I can keep them properly hydrated while I'm away. Since they're about $40 a piece, I wanted to save money by modifying one to water two gardens. Can you please tell me is there a particular size Y connector (or splitter) and tubing? I don't want to get the wrong thing. Also, where can I purchase them? We have Home Depot and Lowes. I want to set it up in the next week or two so I'll be sure that it's up and working when I go away. Thanks in advance for your help! Sandra

The tubing is normal fish tank size. I would suggest, so you get the right stuff, to just go to local pet shop. Get a y-connector that fits into airline tubing for fish tanks (same size as AeroGarden), and get some spare tubing too as you will need some. I found a single AeroVoir would only keep my 2 AeroGardens going for about 1 week max (it would be empty within around 4 days but the AeroGarden would be full and last another couple days before being low). It should be ok to have just one for a week depending how thirsty your plants are. I moved to 2 AeroVoirs for longer lasting water.

Excellent! Thank you so much for getting back to me, much appreciated!:)

Sandra Young No problem. Another tip. Let your AeroGardens get slightly low, then fill the AeroVoir before your trip. Having the AeroGardens lower than the AeroVoir makes the water want to move through fast, to fill up the AeroGarden. This will get all the air out, and ensure both gardens are getting water. Now check that both Gardens are full. At this point, you can take off your slightly empty AeroVoir bottle (cus it just filled your AeroGardens) and refill it, and re-put it on. Now it should have the most water possible for your trip and be working correctly. I had a problem once or twice when I refilled when AeroGardens were still full but AeroVoir bottle had just gone empty. There was very little suction/gravity since the water levels were so close to equal, and one of the AeroGardens failed to start sucking water. You can take off and on the bottle at any time, it doesn't matter because water gets level inside the base. So do as said above. Fill the day before your trip (with AeroGardens low). Then the morning of your trip, make sure both AeroGardens got water up to top, and refill bottle.

Is this counter productive with the electricity it's requires or no?
@earthling19848 жыл бұрын
+Young1Bloodz ? What electricity? This AeroVoir uses no electricity...
@Young1Bloodz8 жыл бұрын
Earthling1984 Didn't know that. Interesting..
@earthling19848 жыл бұрын
+Young1Bloodz heh, yeah just gravity fed. but even if it did use electricity, it is meant to make it easier for the human to water the plants. You need to top up each AeroGarden like 5+ times a week, so almost daily. With this, it keeps them topped to the perfect level, and all I have to do is refill the AeroVoir 1gallon water container about once a week or so.
@Young1Bloodz8 жыл бұрын
+Earthling1984 Awesome! Thanks for the knowledge. Do you notice a significant difference in living expenses with all the useful things you do? Ex. Aero Garden, your outside garden, Roomba Robot and anything else you might also have? Or do you mostly focus on the convenience of it all?
@earthling19848 жыл бұрын
Well, my aerogardens are 30w each for lighting, then an air pump and water pump (very low power consumption). So it's basically like running an old style 60w or so bulb for half the day(flowering) or 17ish hours of the day (during sprouting and vegetation state of the plants). So really, the power consumption is minimal; like a couple old style light bulbs.
