Andy Hug was a well-seasoned karate practitioner known for his insane and unconventional kicks. His ax kick and his patented spinning low leg kick, the “Hug Tornado,” regularly sent his opponents to the canvas or dreamland.
Peter Aerts was a highly experienced Dutch kickboxer, and one of the youngest Grand Prix champions ever. “The Lumberjack” was known for the aggressive offense had regularly used to “chop” down several heavyweight greats.

This seems like a good time to mention that, when Aerts learned of Hug’s untimely passing, he broke down sobbing and was completely inconsolable for over 2 hours. He then dedicated his forthcoming performance at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2000 Final to Hug. These men weren’t just rivals. They were friends and colleagues.

Aerts also stated that as soon as he heard about Andy's health state, he and his wife went straight to the Hospital.

Man I miss those times. K-1 was awesome and these guys are legends. Hug, Aerts, Ernesto Hoost, Semmy Schilt, Glaube Feitosa, Remy Bonjasky, Jérôme Le Banner, CroCop ... it was the absolute melting pot of high level Muay Thai, Karate and Kickboxing. Nowadays I like ONE and Karate Combat, but there's something special about the golden age of Kickboxing and that's likely never gonna be repeated.

Loved this channel for years, especially how respectful you are towards the fighters (calling them by their surname, major pet peeve when people call them by their first. Like what you know the guy or something lol😂). 90’s kickboxing is peak combat sports; the fighters, the styles, the matchups. Hug’s my dads favourite fighter, one of the first fighters I ever watched. Hug definitely has one of the best repertoires concerning kicks.

Francisco Filho, Semmy Schilt and Andy Hug were Kyokushin karate practitioners, that is full contact karate and that is why they had so much success in K1 ... in UFC most famous Kyokushin karate practitioner is GSP ... all that proves is that Kyokushin need just a litle semething extra (head punches and throws) to be top tier ... 5:45 - 5:48, this exchange is so epic, Hug's roundhouse gets checked by aerts, they square up, Hug goes for an intercept on the jab so aerts instead throws a cross that Hug parries, then slips under aerts's left hook to land an overhand which just misses aerts's head by centimeters and then the two disperse. like two lions who recognized game. Beautiful

How this video has so little views after one hour? Fuck KZfaq's algorithm
@TheModernMartialArtist
@TheModernMartialArtist 5 ай бұрын
I've been confused at the ctr being so low on my latest videos so I turned off notifications for this one. So far ctr is double the usual and watch time is 30 percent higher. So either there are bots ruining my algorithm or the people who frequent the sub page don't click on my stuff as much as those who use browse. I'm guessing the first, because why would my own subs have a lower ctr? I'm going to see if the video picks up in a while since the ctr is so much higher than usual. If not I can always rerelease it with the notifications activated.

Yeah that's what I selected. It's really weird because I would expect a much higher ctr from the subscription feed. And that's the place KZfaq mostly shows your video during the first hours and even the first days. But the stats are twice as good in the browse. Makes no sense. But KZfaq didn't take the impressions it would have given to the sub feed and notifications and put it in browse, it just didn't give me those impressions lol So I'm going to see if it ramps up impressions with the better stats or if the video just dies. If it just flatlines then I'll upload it again tomorrow with notifications on, but not sure what to do about the weird statistics in that case.

The ability to be able to "see" the energy is key & instinctive "knowing". Some say it's genetic others say it's magical Idk ...I just know I could do it & could "see" things others couldn't.
