I would suggest having them put pvc base trim in the bathroom that MDF trim is going to eventually get wet especially around the shower and will start warping from the moisture

We just finished our house 6 weeks ago. My hubby chose all of the kitchen (granite, cabinet and drawer hardware etc). I chose paint and floor color. However, it was mostly a team effort. Not our first rodeo. Been married 34 years and have renovated about a dozen times in our married life. Have fun with it. Decorator items are what makes a house a home. Bare walls make it look and feel temporary.

What if for the cubby near the office area you make some sort of rolling bookshelf? That way the spot is covered, and you get some added storage. 🤔

Your idea with the black/white paint pattern is current & trending & can be visually attractive if done right, Yappy. But not for a tiny house. Save the design for the bigger home you are saving for. Kenzie is right, decorations make a house a home if done tastefully. My husband helped me put things up on the walls & put in his ideas of what he'd like to see & I complied. I like the color you picked for the walls. Lighter colors make a small space look bigger. The black paint would of made it look smaller. But I really like the dark hardware. It will make your home visually stunning! Overall I really like your new home!

Turn those stairs into drawers. A great place for socks, underwear, winter hats/gloves, summer swimwear, at the bottom near the bathroom/closet. Then use the upper part for overflow pantry items.

My hubs is like Tristan. Doesn’t want any decos. I on the other hand will hang up whatever I want!!

Happy birthday Presley!! Such a awesome couple. One thing you have to remember Tristan the woman is always right lol. When decorating a home it always seems never ending but when doing it together you can both say we did it and feel a sense of accomplishment. Then you can both sit back and say we did it this is our home. I wish you guys many more years together. Just remember your partner is the most important person/thing in your lives no matter what happens always remember to tell each other I love you even if it's before bed will make a big difference in your lives.

The first rule of any project: It will take longer and cost more than you expect. As for the doors, if you are feeling adventurous, you could put up Murphy Doors that look like built-in shelves, but have hidden hinges to swing open. As for decorating, we do it together... my wife picks what to hang on the wall and where... and I hang it where she says. 🙂 The house is looking great. Happy Birthday Presley!

The black and white inspo photo is aesthetically pleasing but it won’t feel the same in such a small space. For the storage space I would suggest black accordion style doors to save on space.

I probably would go with maybe a neutral color or bright cabinet doors and drawers. But at the same time that matches the floor as well as the walls.

All black is nice but you can clean that all day every day and still see dust everywhere. I think what is going to be now is more workable. And nice as well 😉 My husband was involved with the decorations. We did not always had the same taste. But we made sure that we compromised because it's both of our home. Not one telling the other no all the time. So.. I wanted bold wallpaper. He did not. Then we went for a colour we both could live with. Etc. Lot's of love from the Netherlands, Daniëlle 🙋

I mostly do the decorating. Hubby gives an idea hear and there. Everyone's different though. It's something you are going to have to figure out for yourselves.

Hinged book shelves/hidden access doors or storage cubbies/ hidden access panels are a neat way to generate additional storage, in the soffit areas/ rafters..

Look into flush door jambs. It’s a nice way of making it kinda disappear. Especially the one covering the mechanical stuff that’ll you’ll rarely open. It’ll look better if the door is the wall color without trim and just has that thin modern reveal.

Love how the place is coming along. That said....Sorry Tristan, but the less black ANYTHING you have will make whole or at least, part of your house look and feel small and cramped. Especially since it IS a tiny home. The lighter you have for (paint, cupboards, windows, appliances and furniture) will look better, feel more open, roomier and bright. YES, too much dark does affect your emotional state. Bring colors in with decorations, and accents rather than the bigger items. Darkening blinds or drapes are OK, but if you do use them, in the daytime use no drapes or light sheer drapes for a homeier feel. Darker colors (including your black) would be OK for windows, if you use just valances. Black trim on Windows might work, but even too dark of wood trim will bring the smaller room feeling into the house. Your dark or black table, desk, desk chair or furniture could work if they are not too big and/or solid and bulking looking. Again, any accent colors (including bright bold colors or black) throw pillows, blankets, or lamps (if not to big and solid) will bring things together nicely, more appealingly and less depressing (I wouldn't use light or pastel colors). Whatever you do, you can change it up whenever you want to. Personally, I'd save using black until you have a bigger place. This is just what I have learned and feel for myself though. I'm sure whatever you do will be fine. Any place you live should be what makes you happy. GOOD LUCK , ❤💚💜💙💛❤

for the doors why not do a sliding style door with like a granite style finish that will show off some of the black you are looking for. For the dog bath area I would recommend a clear plexiglass backsplash so the walls don't get messed up.

8:30 ya know what would be really sweet?! To cover that yo could use a sliding or rolling book case. So really no one would really know it was there until you pull a book that has a latch connected to it. This way the the case is attached until you need to open it up.

Go with miniature barn doors they’d look the best.

It will be lighter if u keep it a pretty wood color with the grey and black already. Keep it wood colored!

I wouldn’t paint the cabinets black. It will really make the tiny home appear smaller!

You both have great taste. The black and white looks amazing but I agree to the many reasons it wouldn’t work in this space. Trust your wife, she loves you and will make it work for you both. Remember it’s just stuff and it can be changed.

I like Emmy in Ag' idea of sliding bookcase for cubby beside the desk. Make it black. HVAK cubby, matching sliding bookcase, possibly with black doors. You're going to find you'll need all the storage you can get. Wall decor will muffle echoing. Keep decor black, red, teal???

Barn Doors on a rolling track above will not work. You have outlets on the sides of the openings, when you push the doors to the sides it will hit the plugs. Swing out Doors will work. But Installing a Cubby system might be your best bet. As storage is limited. PS I like the Blk and White combo Ying and Yang. Yappy.

But as far as the doors for the HVAC & cubby have you thought about like an accordion type door/curtain! Where it doesn't take up much space & would hide it well just food for thought also the storage cubes & bags that deflate work amazing for space saving! Hope this helps yall out! Cubby doors: wooden folding doors with slats. Door that lifts up I/o opening the normal direction.

I decorated and my husband just said yup it looks good. There are a few things he has given specific input, but not much.

I made the mistake of painting a room black and I hated it after a few months it was very depressing. When I had it changed it took a primer and several Coates of paint to paint over it. The gray looks nice to much black and you’ll hate it. Love the tiny house it’s looking good.

Shutters...they have slats for things to breathe..you could paint them any color..black..wall color or floor color.

Enjoyed the tour. The floors will be lovely, especially against the black cabinets. Glad your not doing all black it would be to much. Doors...large wood square with frame attached to enter frame, painted same as built ins. I married my husband knowing it was going to be easy Decorating (I am an Interior Designer & he’s Mom was one also), gonna be easy. BOY WAS I WRONG lol. He had his own ideas too. Think of it as marriage = compromise. Just don’t wallpaper together, that one about got us. Lol. 35 years this July. Best wishes. ~ Texas
