Many of us are scared to throw the right hand, as it puts the pressure on the lead foot and puts us in danger of the counter. So Coach Aaron Swenson shows a few different ways to land the straight right safely and effectively jam your opponent up.

This is so true when I used to do boxing I was scared to hit with the right cos it felt like my opponent was going to counter but realistically if you time it and practice the technique you most likely won’t get countered so don’t worry about throwing the right hand or left if you’re left handed

Marius VanDamme honesty if you don’t want to get countered just make sure you hit them with it haha. Have your other hand up and keep your chin tucked too obviously but hitting someone hard takes a lot of the power of of their swing. Plus unless you practice this a lot it’s more dangerous than useful because is you go the wrong way you could walk into a hook without knowing it and since you don’t see it coming it could knock you out

We should always try to keep the weight 50 50 on both legs. This way you get more power, better balance, no leaning, better stance, good speed. Weight shifting is taught to beginners which becomes a bad habit later. Shane you should make a video on two legged punching.
@killinqsworth1156
@killinqsworth1156 5 жыл бұрын
Maybe if you're boxing. In mma you'd want to have most of your weight on your back leg, keeping your front leg light so you can quickly check leg kicks and prevent injury if a leg kick DOES land.

*How to throw the right hand is simple* Step 1: Raise your hand as if signalling for a high five. Step 2: If your opponent raises his right hand throw a straight right to his jaw. Step 3: If step 2 doesn't work offer your left hand as if signalling for a handshake then throw a straight right to the face. Step 4: If you are wearing gloves....do uh..jab cross. Yeah that should work.

if you go light, then you can basically go every training session. personally i am an advocate of light sparring because getting hit in the head is never good. going hard to the body is just fine, because that can make your body stronger, but never ever to the head.
@djw9524
@djw9524 5 жыл бұрын
@@nikonxxx Like the person before me said, Robbie Lawler doesn't do sparring, and neither does Tony Ferguson, an odd thing for a pro fighter, but hey, it seems to work well for them, so who is anyone else to talk? My advice is also good: when you are sparring light, you can do it more often, because the risk of injury is significantly lower and you still get to put in the work. It's very easy to switch from light to hard. And you seem to be projecting your own insecurities with trying to put others down by saying "your not a fighter. And never will be..." Surely you see how that sounds.
