80's living in GA. It seems half the clubs I'd go to, had a band with female lead, and Voices Carried. Musically, it was just an excellent track. Aimee Mann had a very nice voice.

Unfortunately, "Voices Carry" by Aimee Mann and 'til Tuesday was their only real hit song, early in the MTV daze. She is still active, and beautiful.

"Voices Carry" was a big hit when I was in high school. Til Tuesday was more or less a one hit wonder, but singer Aimee Mann went solo and kept making music. She dropped another gem, "I've Had It", in the nineties that explains some of the back story of the demise of Til Tuesday. She might still be making music today, but I'm not sure.

Love this song. It makes me cry. It was before my time. I discovered it as a kid from the movie Sky High in 2005 from a cover/remake by Vitamin C

This was a commercial Hit in Australia. It always sounded like an alternative song to me. Alternative, meaning 'left of centre' not mainstream. I like it when that happens. I couldn't give a rat's arse about the stupid video though. Just concentrate on the music and her voice. You can't see the stupid video on the radio or the vinyl record. It's a unique sounding song . I've always liked it.

Toxic for sure. He wanted her to be the person that he wanted. She was expected to adopt the personality that was beneficial to him and to give up on her aspirations.

Sure it's toxic. Toxicity can be physical, sexual or emotional abuse. m You asked what do they ( the voices) carry. Carry is just another expression for soundwaves travelling a long distance. Or if youve ever lived in a cheap apartment where the walls are thin sheetrock the voices "carry" travel or can be heard in the next room or apartment.
