Now that you mentioned Linda Ronstadt indicating she founded the band, both Glenn Fry and Don Henley were in Linda's band before they branched out on their own as the Eagles. You should show them a video of Linda Ronstadt performing live she is phenomenal and a super star in her own right.

Amazing how meaning changes with time and context. The expression “of your own device” long predates cell phones. It means making your own choices without someone controlling you. (But the cell phone read is interesting!)
@person.probably

Yeah the original expression "of your own device" is less about a physical device, and more about how you have devised or are responsible for the circumstances you are in.

A lot of people interpreted this song as a drug reference, you can "check out" any time you like, but you can never leave the addiction. It kind of fits, but the band has denied it having anything to do with drugs. If they likw the hair on that guy, then show them the lead singer for Kansas- Carry On Wayward Son. Great song, but that guy could be stunt double for bigfoot.

I didn't see it mentioned that the song was mostly written by Don Felder the guy with the two-neck guitar. Don Henley wrote the lyrics. The song is actually about the party drug culture in California. You can "Check out" any time you like is about getting high. The "You can never leave" is that once you are addicted to the life it stays with you. By the way, they seem to love great harmonies. They should see some songs by "The Band". Levon Helm sings and plays drums as well but the harmonies in that band are incredible

Great reaction! it was interesting seeing what each of the guys thought of the song and how they interpreted it. There is another band that does similar type of lyrics where they a rather vague as to what exactly they are talking about but are open to a lot of interpretation. the band is called CAKE and Going the Distance I think was their first big hit. they mix different musical genres together too. Maybe the guys would enjoy reacting to that band as well

At the end of the song, it's the masters chamber but they stab the beast but cannot kill it. These men understood more than most even without a translation! That shows 2 things. They are very observant, and the artists got the meaning across in the music. This song is both beautiful and scary.

Although it is not their original composition, the vocal harmonies on "Seven Bridges Road" by the Eagles are fantastic. Apparently they would use that song backstage before concerts for a vocal warm-up exercise. That song was originally recorded by a country musician named Steve Young, and then a multi -voice harmony cover version was done by musician Iain Matthews, and then another cover was by the Eagles. Highly recommended.

I wish I could find a good live performance video of the Eagles doing that song. But I can only find clips without good audio qualities: A backstage warm-up rehearsal clip from 1977 with only one verse: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oL-Geb2clcCyXXU.html And a cell phone recording with only part of the song by someone from the audience in 2010: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNB4nqSb07iYhIE.html But the best audio recording was from a 1980 live album by the Eagles: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i5xhlbN6nbGUZKc.html

In light of all the allegations and predatory nature of Hollywood; this song perfectly reflects all of it while leaving so many events and names erased. Hi! First of all, I love your content, I can't stop watching your videos! I'm not sure if you take requests, but I'd love to see a reaction to Michael Jackson's "They don't care about us" Brazilian version, aside of the rythm and lyrics talking about racism and poverty, the backstory of the video is amazing: the Brazilian goverment didn't want MJ to film the video in the favela (places outside of the capital, where the poor people live) because it would expose their inability to protect poor people and they couldn't guarantee Michael's safety, so Michael decided to ask the "drug lord" from the favela for permission to film there. A total badass if you ask me. He also featured a local drumming school and it is just perfection. The energy of the song is amazing and I think they'd really like it! Hope ypu can do it ❤ greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
