Beautiful reaction. I was 8 when this song came out. I remember how my 3 sisters loved it when it came on in our parents 1969 station wagon. Time flies enjoy your beautiful life

"Angie" was a number one hit in the US for The Rolling Stones in 1973. I was in grade school back then and remember hearing the song on the radio station my parents listened to. The studio recording features heavenly violin embellishments. Definitely a cold weather song for me. When you're ready for more from them, check out the studio recordings of "2000 Light Years From Home", "Monkey Man", and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" for some grooviness.

What the hell are you doing here? You seem to be everywhere! Jesus. Charlie Watts was originally a swing drummer. For some reason the Stones got a hold of him. He was amazed when they arrived at concerts back in the mid-60's and the fans would rock their Limo back and forth. He didn't know what to do.

I think it's Ian Stewart on piano too. He was considered the "6th Rolling Stone" i think i might leave here though. I feel guilty like I'm cheating on Elok. I also told her you were cheating on her. Haha! We must be loyal to Elok u know?

This song was written about David Bowie's wife, or Keith Richard's daughter, depending on what you read. But Keith Richard's daughter, Angela was not yet born. Anyway, Mick Jagger and David Bowie were friends back then. Keith generally did the guitar work, then Mick Jagger would listen to it and write the lyrics corresponding to Keith's work for the Rolling Stones.

I read Mick was caught having sex with David and it was a song Richard’s was consoling David’s wife Angela Barnett, it hurt there relationship that was full of promiscuity. Keith had a young doughtier and named her Angie and in reflection says her name with Barnett’s thus you get “Angie, Angie” 🤷🏽‍♂️

@CJ yeah, i heard that also. I also heard Lou Reed was involved with them also in some way. Kind of weird. But that's their business i guess.

@DevilDog53 That's true, but it's just odd that his daughter around that same time was named Angela. The nuns called her Angela but her first name was Dandelyon later in life she went with Angela. I thought that you know.... cuz he was recovering from drugs and maybe he got that little factoid wrong. It just seemed very coincidental. He maintains it's not about a person, it was just an imaginary love song type of deal

My best friend did a pretty good impression of this song and took to singing it to anyone named Angie, trying to get lucky. Too bad he was like, thirteen, or it might have worked.

I'm a die-hard Stones fan, but “Angie” is as drab and uninteresting as a classic they ever wrote. So many better ballads, even from Goats Head Soup.

Goats Head Soup is the album of ballads. Angie, Winter, Coming Down Again, and about 2/3 of 100 Years Ago. Kinda curious, though, that Dylan named Angie as one of the songs he wished he had written.
@fuchsiaswing8545
@fuchsiaswing8545 Жыл бұрын
@@ArmandoMPR It's a good song, but I've always much preferred “Winter” and “Coming Down Again.” There's also something oddly appealing about “Can You Hear the Music,” which might be the album’s most overlooked gem. The imagery of Goats Heat Soup always juxtaposed nicely with the hazy production of that song.

Angie is a genius masterpiece of a song. From the melody/chord progression to the guitar intro and texture, Nicky Hopkins piano, drum sound, production and on and on and on...

@@m.e.8153 Nicky plays beautifully throughout the entire album. But “Angie” always felt like a ho-hum number. Why it's garnered habitual radio play over other songs remains mystifying.
