Styling a Serissa foetida to resemble an African Acacia tree. I clean up the pot, the landscape and the tree. This is the forth update to the tree. Check the playlist section on the channel for the previous work done last year.

I love this tree! I have recently acquired a similar sized narrow leaf ficus that I am going to try to the Pierneef/African style too. I love your pot. Do you know where I could find a similar one. Or do you at least know the dimensions? It really adds to the African savanna affect. I will be trying to get mine in a pot like this next spring. Thanks

Fred Grech Yes, I will trim the more vigorous shoots, so the top growth fills in evenly.

Dubsy Dabster I just picked off three caterpillars from my willow tree! I was wondering why the tips weren't growing much, then I noticed they were all being eaten. It's a dog eat dog world out there!

Where can you purchase one?

gerald hart Serissa is a common tropical tree used for bonsai. They are not found in general nurseries around these parts, but can be found where ever they sell bonsai. Check your local bonsai clubs, someone is bound to have a cutting for you.

When Bonsai-people put small Plastic Animals in their Pots... ...I kind of loose confidence. Don´t you? Or lets build something with LEGO and put it in the Pot! BTW. That Tree would look Great if dividing the Growth in the Middle. Like Trees do... Ciao

Animals and figures are a traditional part of Chinese penjing. The idea is to capture a piece of nature and re create it in miniature. A well done penjing with all the items to the correct scale is rare and wonderful to see! Sometimes placing a plastic person or animal in the scene can add to the illusion of a miniature tree, but like any art form, what appeals to one person, may not appeal to another. Pure Japanese bonsai tries to place the focus just on the tree, but the display often has an accent plant or a scroll to help create the feeling of a time and place around the tree. The Serissa canopy will be divided into foliage pads as the top of the tree develops. Check out the playlist for the tree to see more.... kzfaq.info/sun/PLQouTWwmTQowyWO84FYL9q6MzsGx708Qx
