Would it have been better if I had died as an infant? Would that have been more humane than having to live the life I had to live? Many of these people's lives are so bad, these are the questions they ask themselves every day. That is why little gets done to resolve problems. Perhaps it would serve them well to enact some sort of Universal Basic Income so that they could focus on better question that serve all of us.

Why would anyone listen to this idiot? How much is Pfizer paying you to spread vaxx misinfo? Or do you do it just for more views on KZfaq? You are a despicable human being
@audiobookfull8
@audiobookfull8 2 жыл бұрын
@@chris6246 doing things for money is what our society is about. So we must recognize that. Detaching right and wrong from monetary gain should be our first objective. We are going down a dangerous path. How can we reduce "misinfo"? We must reduce government while building trust. This will allow us to decouple money from right and wrong. It is time for out-side-the-box thinking. If we enact Universal Basic Income, people will be less likely to feel the need to view things any other way than what they want -- not through the money they need. Who is to say what is right or what is wrong when you live in a society that is so backward? We need to change the way people are incentivized.

While my wife and I were at the hospital waiting for my son to be born, the only socks I wore were from the Awesome socks club. After a couple of our nurses commented on them, I told them about the awesome socks club and they were so excited. I had random nurses stopping me in the halls to see what socks I was wearing that day. I love being part of this community and the amazing generosity of people trying to decrease world suck.

That’s pretty cool. I’m a pretty isolated 30-something - still without concrete goals (other than making it through each week until my next medication refill) - and think it’s time I join the donation party too (in addition to my 3x pairs of socks each month. they’re so good!). I don’t expect it to change much of how I feel in terms of finally finding some meaning or anything like that - I’m probably too far gone for that heh - but maybe I can help some people while I’m still here and they’ll find the meaning I couldn’t.

My name is Katie, and I have a sister named Emma. People often think we're twins. Emma's story really touched me--she could be my sister, I could be sitting with her in the hospital for 5 months, hoping she recovers. I love this little corner of the Internet: Nerdfighters are truly good people, and there's nothing we can't accomplish together. Few other people would raise $25 million for a health center and then say "We can do more. What else can we do?" What an amazing milestone we have reached, and I can't wait to see what we do in the future.

Thank you to everyone who has supported or is supporting this project to help pregnant people in the Kono District know that they will be able to receive care and services, and to have as safe and healthy a pregnancy and birth as possible. This really hit me, I won’t lie I’m crying a fair bit now, thank you all (John, Hank, but also and definitely not insignificantly all of you Nerdfighters out there) for remaining a bright little corner of the internet that never fails to show me how amazing humans can be! It doesn’t matter what bad things are happening either in the world at large or in my own little life I can always rely on nerdfighteria to keep chugging along doing amazing things and supporting eachother, I’ve been somewhat a part of this community, sadly more watching than really getting to know any of you amazing people, for over half my life now and I truly am so grateful to you all. You’ve kept me going, kept me sane and honestly at times kept me around, and all the while you’ve been finding ways to do the same for so many people all around the world! The maternal centre of excellence is the strongest and most amazing example I’ve seen of what a bunch of normal people can do when they get together and decide to care in a world that often makes caring exhausting! Sorry if I’m not making great sense, but just wow, you all amaze and inspire me.

Seeing the work y'all have done with PIH is inspiring and continues to give me hope that slowly we can make the world a better place, and it's initiatives like this that actually have encouraged and inspired me to try and pursue a career with PIH. Okay, I didn't expect this many tears (of joy and hope). Thanks, John, for the message I needed this morning, and a big thanks to everyone who's contributing. It's not just a hospital we're building. It's an invisible sanctuary of hope--one with many doors--where anybody can stop by for a clear drink of water.

It's an odd thought, but it would be funny if a room (broom closet or something) in the center had a plaque that said "the room that socks built". But congrats on such a fantastic milestone!

This isn't really related to the video, and I'm sorry to make a video about such an important topic all about me, I'm just moved and wanted to share. Listening to this, I was thinking about how incredibly proud John's parents must be of him, and then I realised that one day, I'll be that proud of my son for something he does. He's three now, and I am bursting with pride at every new phrase he learns and every new skill he picks up, but this made me realise that one day I'll be proud not of what he's learning for himself, but for what he's doing for other people, and now I'm crying.

I am so proud of us. Good job, nerdfighteria! I think I take extra pride in knowing this isn't even the only bit of aid and good nerdfighteria has done in those 15 years--there's so much there, and so much of it is what has earned us the recognition of, well, don't underestimate us. 6 years ago I became too disabled to work consistently enough to hold a job. But boredom was a real problem. I turned to KZfaq for entertainment. It wasn't until COVID that the algorithm finally tossed me SciShow and then vlogbrothers. This is the first I've heard of your families efforts to assist Sierra Leone. Bravo. Now if you could go all activist and make that happen in poverty stricken urban and rural America, your ideas would be most welcome. In the meantime, you are brilliant and kind people, and thank you for helping those in the most need.
