This video is a six month update on my Pelican Catch 130 Hydryve HDII fishing kayak. In it I go over the status of the kayak after six months of use in both saltwater and freshwater. I also cover the upgrades and modifications I have done and plan to do.
Here are the links to some of the things I've used on the boat to make it work for what I use it for.

Yeah I'm on my 4th drive mostly for the broken cable on the center pulley and they refused to send anymore. I fish 2 to 4 times a week and take meticulous care, but they refused. Now I'm on a mission to tell people how bad their products are. You did a great job on this video, unfortunately if you're 6 months in you'll definitely have more issue. I'm 1.5 years in amd it's been a nightmare. I wish I had the money to buy another brand, but im stuck fixing this one every time I go out. Last night on lake Powell, perfect glass condition I took on a ton of water in the hull.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been using mine for a year and a half and have broken only one cable. I have seen people using Hobie 180 drives in the pelican boats. They're kind of pricey though. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for watching. It means a lot. I think the most important thing is to keep from crashing it into things in the water. And making sure to pull the drive when you plan to beach. This guy @Zoffinger knows a lot about the Hydryve system and has this video on making it better. I have noticed that the idler pulley on mine is starting to show some wear. I have begun to play with the idea of 3D printing one with bearings in it to make it last forever. We'll see... Thanks again. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obSXmJRktNy7mKc.html

It's great. Really stable and carries everything I need. I'm working on an upgraded idler pulley for the drive and 3D printed seat risers to replace the wooden ones I made. Thanks for watching!

here in Canada those are 2400 cad . they use thermoform technology that is one way they are so light. i had a vanquish 120 sit in made the same way. 48 lbs for a 12 foot kayak.

Wow, that's some coin. One of the selling points for mine, other than the price, was the weight. I have a friend that has a roto molded native and his bare 12 is heavier than my bare 13. It's a great boat. Thanks for watching!

Hey! Thanks for watching! The rack is a THULE rack, but I don't think they make it anymore. the actual cradles are the Dock Glide set I think. The rack was actually given to me by a friend who wasn't using it anymore. Here's the link to the DockGlide things: www.thule.com/en-us/water-racks/kayak-and-canoe-racks/thule-dockglide-_-1690777

@@mikesample-ov3xp Oh, sorry about that. The cart is from Amazon. It cost me like $40. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/OxGord-Trolley-Transport-Carrier-Wheels/dp/B075Z97LBD/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?crid=1AOPJLGU3UHWW&keywords=kayak+cart&qid=1688224187&sprefix=kayak+cart%2Caps%2C1680&sr=8-15

I've been searching for an affordable pedal drive kayak and have landed on the catch 130 hd2. I've seen a lot of negative reviews on these boats but feel these boats have their place in the water. I'm sure they aren't built with the best components but i do believe they're built with a purpose. I'm planning to fish the sound and intracoastal water ways around me here on the NC coast. one thing i noticed is the boat doesn't come with a paddle. any suggestions for a paddle that serves its purpose on a boat like this? the 130 is also discontinued so I'm hoping that doesn't hinder any warranty work.

I just got this boat, what is the seat riser you are using? I would love to have a higher sitting seat. Edit: I just saw your section on the risers. I would buy a set of front, back, and pay for shipping. Let me know!

Hi thanks for watching! I am in the process of design and building a set of 3D printed ones. I'll keep you posted. Much easier to produce and more precise. Email me at macs.outdoor1@gmail.com for updates.

Well, I've been working on them. I've even printed a set of the front. But because I'm learning how to model things on the computer, it's slow going. The set of fronts I printed looked good but are oddly incorrect dimensionally. Back to the drawing board... Thanks for watching.
