I mean doing an accent different than your own may be easier but trying to do a different version of your own accent is harder because the pronunciations are so close and finicky it's really easy to mess up. Like an actor from London doing a Liverpool or Manchester accent would be different, or heck in other countries like Ireland counties right next to each other can have widely different pronunciations to one another despite the close proximity. An Australian accent is different enough to an American one, but two English accents can be harder to distinguish. Not saying the guy is a good actor, but I get why he may have trouble with the accent. They should've just let him use his actual one rather than trying to make him sound more posh, or at least got him an accent coach to help him that understands the different English accents

see i understand enjoying toxic relationships as a fantasy. like you know they're bad and that's part of the appeal for you! for me it's in the same vein as enjoying villains - they fundamentally suck but they scratch an itch that a hero character never could. but sadly it's never that simple or easy, and instead you get droves of unfortunate souls who genuinely believe good and healthy relationships look like this.

I just hate how this movie glamorizes toxic and abusive relationships.Tessa loves Harden,but like,why?What do they even have in common?Maybe the sex is good,but honestly I doubt it.He has the personality of a 2 week old stale bread slice,and somehow we are supposed to be enamored by his "bad boy"persona.I love reading enemies to lovers,but I know that it is an unrealistic scenario.The fact that they portray Harden as this guy we are supposed to root for,when he is clearly an abuser and an alchocolic is just disgusting.Anyway,this is the end of my rant.

I know exactly why Tessa loves Hardin, and this movie helps to support it. She's got daddy issues. Hardin and her dad are both toxic and alcoholic individuals, no wonder she'd gravitate towards him. Then she just fell too deep and sticks with him even after reuniting with her dad.

@@kaywho6477 No, you don't really get what she's saying here. She's alluding to colorism being a part of the recast. If you got it, you would address it instead of kicking the issue to the side as it always is when anyone points it out. Edit: Most of these actors were white and they were recast by white people. There is no issue there. Landon is a dark skinned character who was recast by an ambiguous light skinned man. Therein, lies the issue. It isn't just a simple "recast". It's a trend.

I haven’t watched After We Fell (thank god) but from what I’ve heard, they could’ve really switched this around and actually made a decent story. They could’ve made it about how Hardin dislikes Tessa’s father BECAUSE her father reminds him of himself, and we could finally see some character insight about Hardin and struggles within himself. There could’ve been actually character development.
@jaginaiaelectrizs6341
@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 2 жыл бұрын
Although, simply struggling internally alone isn't character growth. You have to actually choose to do something positive or corrective about it, too, in order to have growth. Although it would, at least, establish some depth to his characterization, either way, perhaps.

Exactly my point! Like, there are actual _good_ books in Wattpad, publishing quality books but they chose to make shit like this and Kissing Booth into movies? Seriously?! Okay, sure, Wattpad authors’ writing style varies a lot and so, some books are better left as books but some can be turned into amazing movies without the loss of quality, you know? And apparently, this movie was produced by Wattpad studios? I know they’re getting too hungry for money nowadays but they have a literal library of good original content to choose from. It’s as if they _want_ to be know for shitty content instead.

And in case anyone was curious, the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family (I'm not joking) are all descendants of the 16th Baron Saye and Sele, meaning they are technically British royalty. Specifically 8th cousins of Prince Charles.
