Honestly I loved it- it was sort of funny and off-kilter at first because it takes *a few* liberties with historical English culture but once I gave up figuring out which century they were supposed to be in, it was a really really fun series

Even though I’m originally from Korea, we ended up moving to England for a few years but now I moved to Japan where my grandparents live. And during the time I lived in England, I got got to eat a lot of yummy food though I am allergic to wheat so that was a bummer.

I'm allegic to wheat too :( Do you find it's hard finding wheat free stuff in Japan? Soy sauce is in so many dishes and it's got wheat

@@happee25 When I go to restaurants I usually have to ask them about the ingredients. My mum uses a gluten free soy sauce in the food she cooks. My allergy isn’t that bad so sometimes I have small portions of rice. I have gluten free food items.

I'm a Bath local and spent my wedding night in the Royal Crescent Hotel. It was absolutely lovely. Plus we arrived at the the same time as some American tourists who were thrilled to see an English bride and groom.

You need to visit Edinburgh whilst you are in the UK. We've just comeback and love it. Especially Prestonfield house hotel (even just for afternoon tea)

I've heard of the place from historical romance books. Apparently londoners go to bath when they get very sick. There's a hot spring if I remember correctly.

There’s a restaurant like this in downtown Philadelphia that have the same tiny sandwiches n macarons with tea too and I love it. If I’m remembering correctly it’s called The Dandelion

Here in the USA we have places such as the Russian tea house and various tea rooms which the levels & styles of the tea room vary on how much you are looking to spend

When we got invited to my brother's baking school afternoon tea he kept refilling our table with puff pastry and I got so bloated after 😅 I also thought afternoon tea was just a chill snack time lol

You can probably find a place for afternoons tea most places in England although it isn’t very common for middle class or working class I’ve been twice and it was for my grandma s birthday present and a voucher my mum got again for her birthday it is still fancy here lmao

Afternoon tea is served at 4p.m.. Dinner is at 12n and supper is at 9p.m.. At least that is the way it was in the old days!! Biscuits are the American equivalent to cookies!! Yum!!

I have a place down the street from me that serves afternoon tea! just like that, but with different foods. i can never go back there because it was at the wedding chapel where i got married and i just got divorced 😂 food was delicious tho

It's cheeky calling it the dower house. Those buildings behind the main houses along the Crescent are actually correctly called mews houses. They're where the horses, carriages and some servants lived.

No not really with afternoon tea, that is looked down upon altho the servers would help you and would never mention it to your face, but I can guarantee they are not impressed. Tea is designed the way it is to let people eat what they need, so people who aren’t hungry just take a bite, but people who are very hungry can fill up. It’s not polite to ask to take the food away.

@@MackerelCat Dude, I've worked in Michelin Star restaurants where we served afternoon tea. No one in this day and age is looking down on anyone for wanting a leftover box. What you're saying sounds incredibly outdated.
