The Sinquefield Cup sees Magnus Carlsen and 11 more of the world's best players compete in the Saint Louis Chess Club from 17-28 August 2019. The event is the fifth leg of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour. In addition to tour points the prize fund is $325,000, with $90,000 for 1st place.
Players receive 130 minutes for the entire game, with a 30-second delay from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided in a 2-game rapid mini-match (10 min + 5 sec delay), in case of just two tied players, and if necessary an Armageddon game (5 vs. 4) on 29 August at 13:00 local time. Nepo can find a great attacking move that only Tal could find, and also an amateur blunder that only I could find. But I love Nepo, he’s the only top GM not afraid to lose. You don’t ever see him play drawish lines.

Even complex numbers can be ranked in terms of modulus. Same with blunders. You get massive blunders, huge blunders, blunders, small blunders, etc. But how can you compare two different blunders that are both huge? There are so many arguments.

At 1:24, it may not be a good move, given White's weakness on that part of the board, but I would definitely castle queen-side. I just like the opportunity to produce check by castling. You're really getting three moves in one there. You shift the king, centralize the rook, and pick up a bonus move because you've forced your opponent into a purely defensive move, either by blocking (and thus pinning yourself) with the bishop or knight, or shifting the king. Like I said, it's probably terrible strategy here, but it just tickles me as a rank amateur to do that, and it's not an option very often.

Nepo is such an inventive player, but he does outsmart himself sometimes. Was almost putting MVL in a zugzwang and ended up losing - Carlsen would never go for the moves Nepo went for to have that position so early in the game, but he also would never have lost in such a dominant position.

I once played with MVL when he was 7-8 years old, he was already a monster. He crushed me like a cockroach... I remember I had an advantage, I did a mini mistake like Nepo and I went on terrible final where i was almost all the time on zugzwang... MVL is a punisher...

I dont know why your analasis is so bas, its like you are not even trying, I love your videos but lately I don’t see any effort in the analasis, for instance in the fabi against ding game you didnt shoe that fabi missed Qxe3 and then xf4 or the Knight sacrifice on e5.. in this game not showing that instead of O-O white could have played exf6 winning an exchange, which is in my opinion the most important turning point in the game (it isnt a mistake but it is an important line to show). And I dont rly understand why doesn’t black take on b4 instead of Bd7, stuff like that... Or in the Magnus game against Wesly So there was a beautiful zuckzwang in the position that Magnus pointed out in the interview which was not mention in that interesting endgame. In short I dont know what happend to you or is it me that I have become picky. Love your videos man and I have been watching since you had 15k subs. Wish you all the best and hope you devote a bit more time to analazing this games and making this videos more educational then just entertaining. Sorry for bad spelling, peace

Doesn't Rxa7 work? That is to save the knight on d7. If B x d7, Rxb7. At the very least you get two pawns for the knight and by pinning the bishop you force black to defend. Whether the b pawn can be promoted or lead the game to somewhat of a drawish position I have not calculated. Just a hunch. #question This applies to minute 8:22 of the video

I would think that taking the f pawn does nothing for nepo. The black g pawn would just take on f and those squares on e and f would continue to be unusable by white. If white waits and black captures the e pawn, white can capture back with his knight or bishop in a pretty strong way.

Srijan Pande In comparison, Anand has been blundering a lot this tournament . He could have had a huge sole lead this tournament and would have wrapped up this tournament even with the last round to spare . That’s why even Naka in an interview said if there was a player who had solid chances to convert to wins , it was Anand . Nepo blundered , cause he plays too quick . But Anand missing easy wins is what disappoints me ; being an Indian
