That sucks man, our 2009 CRV still has it's original trans and going strong at 540k. We had your wifes crv generation before and we got rid of it when the transmission started acting up at around 250k

Looks like a Transmission cooler failure Ernest, Coolant and transmission fluid mixing it up!!!

Don’t forget to flush the transmission lines and cooler/radiator. Also a new torque converter is good insurance.

I was thinking about buying a used transmission for my 2006 Honda odyssey from Ebay but watching this video and doing the job Twice i better rethink this.

Also don't separate the lower ball joint. Disconnect the upper control arm nut. Take off the lower. Bracket of the strut. Size 14 mm for the top bolt. 17mm wrench and socket at the bottom. Let the spindle drop. You may need to disconnect any wires or hoses connected to the spindle or strut. 10mm and 12mm. Slide the bracket off. Go down then slide off the control arm. Drop the spindle from the top. Cv axle is ready to come off. Your doing it the hard way. I get that's what the book says.

Looks like trans cooler failed bro, check ur radiator, the trans cooler is in the radiator on Hondas, cud be cracked internally causing all ur transmissions to fail when the coolant and oil mix, that was 100 percent coolant and trans fluid mixed u drained out of the transmission

Use a piece of 2x4 and a regular jack. Never need a transmission jack. If not use a engine hoist. There a support bracket on the transmission. We take these out in one hour. On the floor or lift. Floor is easier

I think you should hang onto that transmission core and rebuild it at your convenience. I'm 70 years old with 50 years experience in auto repair and I'm confident that you can do it. A used transmission will never last long and I don't think your wife is at fault. Always replace the torque converter and thoroughly flush the cooler and lines after your rebuild. Did you check the jack seals and oil maybe see if it has air in it ? And possibly use jack oil with stop leak

That looks like water in the trans fluid. Check radiator trans cooler side. Might be leaking internally.

Is that trans fluid made by Royal Purple? That looked to have a lot of clutch material in it.

you might be able to cut ply wood cut squares and stack them and make squares to a spacer to get your tans mission higher had a problem with a ebayer sent me a pice of junk a broken key fob tried to cancel giving me the the run around called the credit card company got immediate positive results

the thing about it is in fact that is water in the fluid and i think it is its not the transmission companys fault its yours water ruins transmissions

Are these new rebiult or used transmissions, used older honda automatic transmissions will always burn up, has a internal filter clogs up , pump will not work, Why don't you rebuild the transmission yourself, or swap it to standard and be done with it, reason why it was hard for you to pop that lower ball joint was because you had unbolted the shock fork from the lower control arm but they can be stubborn especially if they've never been popped before

Personally I have never had luck with an untested used transmission. Unless I could drive the car and feel the transmission I wouldn't buy one. Nothing worse than wasting all that time on a broken part.

how bout taking them to court no poker face to the people involved. tell them to make it right along with getting your wife a brand new car and give them the rotten car/transmission . you have done enough beyond enough to get the transmission to work. i feel your wifes pain asking for help and asking for rentals etc. thats so wrong.

As a mechanic you should know better than that. Just because you can fix it yourself doesn’t mean you gonna repair and rebuild it 6 or 10 times😂 dude by now you could have bought a nicer car even a much newer one.

I don't mind driving junk like that and fixing it, but I'd rather have something reliable for the wife to drive the kids around in. You can find something decent for $5-7k, that CRV is in rough shape.
