He may have had fifteen shots, but that doesn't mean the bartender should be held responsible. The bartender doesn’t see the table ticket since the server only orders the drinks. If the bartender deliberately served this guy all the shots, I could understand they were being charged. Ultimately, the drunk guy is responsible for his actions, so he is the one who needs to be held accountable for them.

I thank God that I didn't hurt or kill someone else. I couldn't imagine having to live with that. Driving under the influence is never worth it. It doesn't matter how 'experienced' you are or if you're just buzzed or whatever, it's a terrible idea that will end in tragedy eventually. I've made similar posts on videos like this before. Most states have these laws, and as a bartender I completely agree with them. A few months ago I had a group of people come in. They were tipsy but they were using Uber, so I wasn’t too worried about them. After getting them their cocktails I realized one man should not have been served. I watched him closely. There was one person in the group who was sober. I told that guy that I wasn’t going to serve drunk guy anymore alcohol. He agreed and said he’d deal with him. Sober guy ordered shots for everyone (except for drunk guy.) I gave everyone their shots, no one wanted them. The shots just sat on the bar. I turned my back for 30 seconds to wash some glasses and drunk grabbed the FOUR shots! He slammed all FOUR of them before I even turned around. I was pissed!! I asked them all to leave. While they were waiting for their Uber, drunk guy, of course, became a problem. He tried to lie down on the floor and sleep. Oh, hell no! I made his friends get him out of my bar. Then he wanted to pass out in one of the cafe chairs outside. I went out there to get him up when the Uber showed up. They had to carry him to get him in the van. I told the whole group that I never wanted to see them again. Hell, I’m still mad about that guy! Even if you don’t plan to drive, alcohol poisoning is a real problem. About 30 years ago, I witnessed a pickup clip of a tractor-trailer and flip over. I stopped to render aid, and OMG, the car was full of empty and full beer cans. I saw an empty baby seat in the back seat of the truck. I put my hand around the driver's neck without thinking and yelling at him where is the baby. When the police pulled me off him, they told me there was no baby and that I was free to go. I think I snapped, and my hand automatically went around the drunk driver's neck after seeing an empty baby seat and thinking a baby got injured or worse. I still remember the day as if it was yesterday. I am so glad there was no baby in the pickup truck.

I have lost three dear friends during my life to drunk drivers. What sickens me to the core is that we lose innocent loved ones, and the drivers who took them from us walk away unscathed. I have no tolerance for the selfish and irresponsible people who get behind the wheel intoxicated. Today, with Uber and Lyft, there is no reasonable justification to put other lives at risk. 🙏RIP to all those lives taken away too soon at the hands of drunk drivers💔

I agree completely! And I don’t mind saying why. I am the angriest, beaten down numb to the core, worst hellion I know, I hate myself every moment of everyday, but never would I or will allow myself to put another’s life in danger. My pain is my pain and sometimes I just gotta wreck shit to deal with it but I do it alone, in the comfort and safety of my own home where I can get as stupid or crazy as I need to then have the chance to move on without that burning hatred leading me into a situation I can’t come back from. Misery loves company and my misery is unparalleled and unique bc I want to self destruct and I do everything in my power to protect everyone from the monster I am and can become. I shoulder 100% of the blame for the dumb shit I’ve done and many a person with a guilty conscience like me doesn’t care who they hurt with it. So I’m sorry long story long is if I can keep myself in check then no one has any excuse.

I use to have a friend who struggled with alcoholism, I did everything to get them help, a few years ago, he was drunk driving on Fathers Day and he ended up flipping his car with his 2 children inside, I just thought it was an accident, but it later turns out he was drunk and he was even so out of it that he didn’t strap his kids into their car seats and when they found him he got out of the car trying to fight the cops while blood was gushing from his head. His daughter is now a paraplegic and his son suffered a brain injury. He pleaded guilty, but decided he now wants to proclaim his innocence. I was unaware while being his friend that this would have been considered his 4th DUI. I know he didn’t kill anyone, but his drunk driving lead to so many changes and so many lives being ruined and I’m honestly disgusted that I was even associated with him. DONT NOT DRINK AND DRIVE BY ANY MEANS. Call a friend, ask for help, get an Uber, go out with a DD, but please do not drink and drive.

I used to work in an insurance company here in France and unfortunately, we faced some tragic cases of accidents implying bodily injuries or death. Remember that when you have an accident while DUI, your insurer will pay compensation to the victims and family BUT they will pursue you afterwards to be paid back. You lose e-ve-ry-thing. Compensation for bodily injuries are very, very high (though less than in the USA as I know). We had the sad case of a man who died in a car accident on the motorway, while DUI. He managed first to get off of his car but then he was hit by a big lorry. His body damaged the lorry. Not only his widow got nothing from the insurer, but she had to pay the price for the repair of the lorry... I had to explain that to her. It was one of the worst moment in my carreer. 😔 I don't know the law in the USA, but here, after a car accident, a bartender and even you or me can be sued if we let someone leave the premises/home and we know that this person is too drunk too drive. All my thoughts for the victims and their family and friends. 🌹

@meghanj30123 ай бұрын
The field sobriety tests are used as additional evidence of impairment. Not all driving impairment is alcohol related. FSTs are generally voluntary statewide, but declining them does increase the probable cause an officer has to make a DU😮I arrest and depending on the state it can result in actions against the driver’s license. There’s a lot of criticism over the criteria of FSTs and the lack of training involved in administering them as well as the belief that they are designed to be failed. Essentially, it’s more likely they are used as a tool to support an already suspected DUI case should there be any legal argument against breathalyzer or blood alcohol test results.
@meghanj30123 ай бұрын
@@bambi7521if you were ever in a situation where you were asked to perform field sobriety tests you could inform the officer of your medical conditions so it’s recorded. You can also decline the tests and request the blood or breath test instead. The FSTs are not mandatory. i got a DUI early one morning on my way to work after a night of drinking. it was my friends birthday and we got pretty hammered. didnt get home until 2-230. woke up around 4:45am to drive home and get changed for work. i felt completely fine if not a little tired and hungover. happened to be raining cats and dogs and i ended up hydroplaning off the road into a field. wasnt speeding, wasnt driving recklessy. just had the misfortune of hitting that puddle in the road and hydroplaning. long story short, i end up backing my truck out of the field and get out to see if there is any damage. after a couple minutes a sheriff showed up (i was just at the edge of town) apparently someone saw me hydroplane and called the cops. we get to talking and hes asking all the requisite questions to include if id been drinking because he could smell alcohol. i told him id been out the night before for my friends birthday and we'd drank but that id slept it off and was just on my way to work. did all the field sobriety stuff and passed. we get to the breathalyzer and i blow a .09. i couldnt believe it. i felt totally fine but my body still hadnt metabolized all the alcohol from the night before. was enough for me to swear off drinking altogether. ive been sober 28 years now. im not condoning drinking and driving at all. its a sensless, selfish act. what i will say is everyone has a different tolerance. ive seen and been with family and friends who have had a couple drinks (even more than a couple) and been totally fine. ive a good friend who is a functioning alcoholic. has been for years. he drinks at least, AT LEAST, a handle of booze every single day. if it wasnt for the smell of alcohol comng off him youd never know he was drunk. its scary as hell.

Had a buddy back in the early 90s jump outta the passenger side of my truck going down the street because he got pissed that I wouldn’t take him a town away to get his weed. He was a cowboy and when he hit the concrete I could see sparks coming off his belt buckle in my rear view mirror, other than being scraped up pretty good he was ok.

Anything less than 50yrs for taking a life is an injustice to not only the families of the victims, but an injustice to the entire community!

When I was 17 the one and only time I’ve ever driven my car while drunk I was hating myself the entire time and I got home safely without any damage to others and that was 11 years ago and I still regret that act. I can’t fathom what made me make that decision looking back and is one of the many reasons I stopped drinking at all in 2020.

@@tomd4748You're saying it sounds melodramatic after watching multiple cases of vehicular homicide due to driving while intoxicated? ?

I drove drunk once in my early twenties. I got a few blocks from the bar, nearly went over a median during a turn, and immediately pulled over. I called a friend to come pick me up (a sober friend.) Best decision of my life. In the twenty years since, I’ve thought of that night many times when I was tempted. I legitimately thought I was fine that night when I got behind the wheel, just a little buzzed.

A drunk driver killed one of my best friends. He was only 28 years old and he never even made it to the hospital. He had just begun a career as a teacher. His whole life ahead of him. And just like that he was gone forever. All because of a drunk *IDIOT* who'd been caught doing it at least once before but hadn't learned his lesson. He survived and I think he got a prison sentence, but it won't bring my friend back. Miss you always, Alexander.

When I was a firefighter, I've responded to several DUI wrecks. Luckily, none of them resulted in serious injury, although I have responded to wrecks that did end life but all parties were sober. One of my first calls I've responded to was a DUI wreck. As we were cleaning up, the state troopers were conducting FST's. Everyone had minor injuries. I've seen a rollover, this guy was both drunk and high, barely a scratch on him (he was the only one involved). Walked away (In cuffs) like it was nothing.
