The main point, hardly mentioned, was that the long-bow had the power to fire an arrow thru armor. This was the irresistible advantage.

Barker, Sumption and Rogers all wrote that the English probably had 6,000 men, these being 5,000 archers and 900-1,000 men-at-arms. These numbers are based on the Gesta Henrici Quinti and the chronicle of Jean Le Fèvre, the only two eyewitness accounts on the English camp. The French army probably consisted of 20,000 to 30,000 men. This suggests that the French could have outnumbered the English 5 to 1.

Archers would loose their two fingers if overrun. Hence the ✌🏻became a Victory cry and still is used today as a Symbol of resistance ✌🏻 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

2:45v shows Roman spears. Also, I saw.a test of English longbow arrows against French steel, and the English steel could not penetrate the French steel. It had rained a lot in England (as it frequently does, I've lived there). and the huge amount of French forced and their heavy armer got stuck in the mud. The English, much lighter without the armor, could easily walk across the bogs and slaughter the French. I had alway thought and read it was won by longbow, but the Military Channel showed a different sequence of events. The show tested the bow with the steels found from the event at that time, and the arrow tips could not have penetrated the French steel. While a really good shot could hit an armor weak point, check out ARROWS vs ARMOUR - Medieval Myth Busting. I'm not saying a direct shot wouldn't hurt; think of being shot while wearing a bullet-proof vest.

And, we still have people using the middle finger. Thinking wrong about what it means, and that is "pluck yew". Not The f_ ck you.

Most of the French - were Men At Arms (on foot) - not Mounted Knights. The Knights were repulsed and then their Men Ar Arms attacked. The thing that made the most difference - was that the Battlefield narrowed as it approached the English Position. Because of that the French were gradually forced into tighter and tighter ranks until they had trouble raising their arms. The Battle is more accurately portrayed here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7GZh86fr9Wlfmw.html Note the way the Battlefield narrows. .

It took more than 100 years for the French to regain France from English control... after this the French tried many times to invade England but were easily defeated every time.😎
