Solid video. I could say a lot about AI, I think the core of it is this; AI is ultimately a tool for capital to deskill and cut labor cost. It’s development and deployment is entirely in service to that goal. In context of the music industry, it’s easy to imagine how the big kids might leverage this technology. Perhaps streaming platforms like Spotify start to saturate playlists with AI generated music to reduce royalty cost. Major labels bringing artists back from the dead, leveraging their catalogs to create “Frankenstein” style material.

"based off our database use a 808 bass with trap keys to make a beat at 120 tempo in my style .. it will go through your database of all the beats u made and say "this guy uses these sounds to make this style of beat .. instead of u sitting there doing it" now u can say "make 100 beatswith my style" while producing a new sound from scratch in real life without ai ..to feed it the new sound you want to innovate .. this is an innovation tool not a "deskiller" ive only increased my skills working with ai

We are just not advanced enough as a society to keep up with the technology we are making. They didn't jump on streaming just because they wanted the money, they did it because they couldn't stop what Napster started. With AI the cat is out of the bag, just like Napster they not gonna stop it, we just don't know where it's going. I think it will lead to a more radical/thinking art movement and not just artists chasing the bag.

The new philosophy is that the artist’s voice is now an instrument. People who are actually lyrical and or are good at identifying artists lyrical patterns can eventually make songs possibly better (based on consensus) than the artist. What’s next (because no one can stop someone from posting things on KZfaq and other places) is that artists need to simply license their voices out or there need to be new laws on propriety over one’s voice. I don’t see it disappearing I just see two possibly three crowds forming, those who are completely against it, those who love it and everyone else between.

Imagine forking out your hard earned money to go to a concert to enjoy your favorite musical artist, only to see a DAW on stage and nothing else. Care to disagree, but bud you can keep that crap. I wholeheartedly agree with your observance on creating relationships. But with what? Software, or human beings? Back in the day talented human musicians would do that directly with their human constituents. And not with some computer between them.

If you have keep your honor and maintain your consistency, you are gonna be fine. I feel like at some point, it'll be easier for labels and mass copyright holders to leverage their ownership to generate new music. Why deal with tracking down the 10 producers on a loop when you have a ton of music to train against and then provide your artists with those beats? With the slew of artists selling their catalogues, I can see these giant bodies getting more and more in position to monopolize the modern sound of music (assuming in these catalogue deals, they end up wholly owning the copyrights or master recordings. Maybe this is unlikely 🤔)

It is actually worst... just by choosing from the list of AI generated beats, images, answers . . . wathever... we are TEACHING AI what Humans preferr. . . .so just by using it, AI is getting exponentially "wiser" and with that, humans just gave birth to a superior intelligence rendering themselves obsolete. Great vid - you tell a story well. Re the copyright issue there's a simple solution; as soon as the sound has been generated by the AI, a person or organisation buys the copyright and the AI is "told" never to create that exact sound again. That gives the AI sound boundaries to work within/against.

The music industry is going to have the same problem as the artist community. Boomin beats did not make any beats without the influence of listening to and disecting other copyrighter beats. This is exactly what AI is doing. Same exact thing. This was the argument artists tried to make. Unless artists, and or musicians, producers, wiped their brains went into a cave and only then opened their eyes and ears in a dark cave with no previous experience or influence from preexisting visuals and or audios and created then they too have been trained from all previous works they have been exposed to.. That is what they are complaining about AI. It is no different. There is nothing new under the sun. Everything is a remix in one way or another because everyone creating is influenced by copyrighted material. This is the same for AI.

😶 Realistically the first step in devaluing producers started with the loop/sample selling game. It created a lower barrier for entry, royalty payouts decreased, and splits became a headache so labels were less willing to take a chance on unknown producers unless it was a collab with a known producer. In the future, all jobs will be replaced with A.I. and this includes music producers and artists. I wouldn't be surprised if an app like Spotify has a special feature or button in 5 to 10 years that generates an entire song tailor-made from the ground up for each individual user depending on their tastes. A song that is as good if not better than the best human music that exists or has ever existed. The A.I. would produce the instrumentals, vocals, lyrics all in a few seconds.

Or an enhancer if producers use it to increase quality and quantity. A lot to unpack.

So we just made the AI's job easier to find the patterns. 2. The only way they could keep track of each loop that is created with the aoundful and to also give everyone their own separate loops even when asked for the very se thing. Is to save every loop that it creates into a database and tag it as unique. Then every time a new beat or loop is generated it would have to first be cross referenced to that database. If loop = loop from database, Then slightly change loop.

I think the labels will win in the end, because if they can generate their own beats, use AI songwriting tools, and generate a voice from scratch that they could own, then they could essentially own entirely AI-generated artists. Now technically anyone would be able to do this too in their bedrooms, but of course the labels with their connections and marketing budget would mean they'd be dominating that space more than anyone. I think it'll no longer be enough to just be a "producer" or an "artist", each person would have to do both, essentially just putting out full songs, and those who master branding and marketing would rise to the top, which is arguably how it's always been, given how many talented people never make it in the industry.

As with all things, in the end it's like this... either you're honest in what you do and how, or you hide things and possibly deceive your fans. In my opinion, artists (whether rappers or producers) will have to increasingly determine which target group quality they want to address. Depending on the motivation, new strategies will emerge to bring music into circulation. Maybe music will become more exclusive again and will not only take place online. These are turbulent times in any case.

I think if AI is just used as a tool to help spark ideas just like a sample can, it may be ok but making full songs seemed strange to me especially since one of the best parts of music is connecting to another human being. If an AI generated song is made and goes viral, ok cool but if there is no person connected to it actually putting effort into what’s coming out, idk how long that will last over time since you need people to tour and to perform and you need a brand and a whole lot more to be engaging as an artist or creator. At least from all I’ve learned, those things are pretty important so I think AI might make an impact but I think it will be difficult to just get rid of artists and musicians and all that for good since like I said that human connection is one of my best parts about music and music creation at least imo. Idk hopefully all that makes sense lol. Great video! Thank you for the information!

What do you think about producing origianal beats and making a song with ai but instead of putting it out there you send that, the stems and the lyrics to the artist to see if they want to make that song for real. Do you think that would work?

As a producer and developer i can tell it is possible to do so....... The developer would make two different sides of developerment ...you can feed one side of the learning software to learn the melodies of certain producer... You take the side of development feed totally original content The software can memic the style but with Rearranging the sounds ..... The only thing finding enough original artist ....that can play drums ect.....

Big catalog owners can feed an AI without risking copyright and therefore build a platform where they will make profit out of it. They just don’t want somebody else doing that. Indeed.

The publishers might want to cling on to their properties in order to keep selling it, but I think the genie is out of the bottle now. They won't be able to control it. They literally couldn't stop people sharing (pirate) tapes of albums, couldn't stop people from downloading music with Napster, and couldn't stop Spotify and KZfaq from offering free streams. All they could do was negotiate for a small royalty/revenue share. How are they going to stop people making fake Taylor Swift, Drake, or Weeknd tracks when we'll all have the technology to make mash-ups from the stuff that already exists? We aren't gonna pay for music when we can create it with an AI chatbot.

I definitely see labels utilizing AI technology to their advantage, just like they did streaming. Streaming not only shook up the music industry, but others; ex. the auto industry. I can't remember the last time I saw a new car with a CD player. I definitely see AI being the future for movies and TV productions once the major labels get things figured out.

I think we are in danger of mixing up two situations here - one the one had we have clones/parodies etc that are huge news at the moment, and I think will ultimately be regarded as novelties, on the other hand we have songwriters (like myself) who use AI generated "backing tracks" as inspiration to produce a finished song using the AI input as a starting point. The finished product in this instance is not attempting to sound like anyone else, with the 60-70% of the song being overdubs of vocals and instruments created solely by the living artist. My latest album includes no less than 8 songs that include AI elements.

There is a way to electronically tag your beats making it become detected if it is used without the copyright owner's consent. If those beats or instrumentals are fed into the AI machine and are rearranged the encryption still exists in smaller fragments making the sample, or AI version of the music become identifiable. You can then use this as a case for copyright infringement from the AI websites in relation to your music or sounds it generates. Other than that, Don't feed the machine

This is fascinating to me. I think the rise of AI platforms and AI-driven tools will change how the music making process looks, and how the industry operates, but at the end of the day the music industry operates on human connection and relationships. Not fire beats. If this is a scary thing for producers, I think they're looking at their position in the business the wrong way. To me it'll just be another useful tool to make our jobs a little easier or more creative.

Lol you said exactly how I feel. Human connection is so important and tbh is what makes music fun so without that, it ain’t the same. I feel like covid taught that a little bit too. No live performances or making music next to another person felt horrible but it was even better when we were allowed to come back and no longer social distance.

Nice vid fam. I think that hip-hop, mainly super gutter type rap, will be the hardest to replicate via AI simply due to how quickly the slang is constantly changing and shifting in the culture. This may not be huge, but like think of how much people use the term “blicky” in the past 5 years when prior people would look at you like why are you using that? And I mean there’s endless examples of this from quarter to quarter let alone year to year let alone every few years to every few years.

Great video, thank you! Technology is about replacing, optimizing, we drive cars, not horses and all the jobs associated with maintaining horses went away. Big companies want to minimize cost and maximize income, and not paying AI is more cost effective than paying an artist. Another challenge is the audience is not steeped in music theory, they like what they like and at some point they wont mind an AI generated CGI artist performing in a Fortnite concert over an AI generated beat. If AI technology advances like other tech areas, artists will have to adapt, some will learn how to master the art of "prompts" and source material for AI systems, some will join the AI "arms race" to make stronger AI systems, some will continue the current ways and become the new boutique "vinyl".

Great vid. As you said, the labels are still trying to figure out AI -- and how to control/capitalize from it as they did with streaming/"free" music. Once they figure out how to ensure copyright/publishing owners can essentially grant permission and a license for an AI track based on the likeness of one of their artists, they'll be completely fine with it. These labels will lobby 'til the cows come home to make that a reality. If we get to that place, they may even hire AI departments to create new AI generated hits from their favorite artists....scary thoughts but could be very real 5 years from now. But I think the artists, but most importantly, the fans/consumers will help steer this AI ship. Those that appreciate "real/human" art will shy away from these fake/AI tracks. And just because their AI, it doesn't make the songs good. Knowing it's AI takes any thoughts of getting goosebumps from the track away for me. What's next...holograms to go on tour with these AI songs? I hope "fans" of music aren't that sheep-like...smh....Just a strange nightmare all around.

With this whole “right of publicity” law thing. There are people who sound like other people. Shyne sounded like Biggie etc.. there are comics that can mimick other peoples voices. If this ever went to court the labels would lose as it would be impossible to copyright a human voice. Copyright is ultimately about composition. Something has to be composed. It’s why you can’t copyright a synth sound etc.. it’s the same with a voice. The labels will try to put pressure on any main player just so none of this ever gets to court. If AI stuff gets tested in court the music business is pretty much over.

I need to quickly use ai to do every single possible beat in existence and make all the loops royalty free. side note. even if you use AI in the future, you still need the creative vision to make the song, the beat ect... it won't replace creativity, it will enhance it, but maybe not in a good way.
