Good video. It’s weird because I was anxious that I might be “prone” to this having had a bout of depression after redundancy years ago. But I feel really good that actually I’m doing well. Yep I have bad days, cabin fever days, lonely days and days where I’m not therapeutic but mostly I’m doing great but regardless, I’ve learned not to be too hard on myself when I’m no quite at my best. You summed it up best when you said it’s harder in a way because we are under scrutiny so much more. Not just by professionals, but friends and family looking at us and seeing if we are bonding and attaching etc. It’s hard but I’m jeffing well really proud of myself.

Thanks so much for your comment! I'm so glad to hear you can pride yourself on all of your achievements as a parent and put that impossible standard to one side! :D We're all killing it, some days more than others.

Thanks for sharing this! It's such an isolating feeling for sure, so the more people willing to talk about it the better! I recently made a vlog about signs of post adoption depression and my experience with it...I can definitely relate to some of the feelings your friend experienced ❤️

Thank you for talking about this subject and thank you to the brave woman who shared her experience with adoption depression, I am going through the beginnings of the adoption journey and I was worried about things like this it's something that I haven't seen talked about through my studying all aspects of adoption, I am choosing adoption because it's how I want to become a parent it's something I've always wanted to do (I don't have issues with people who want to biologically) I Keep seeing a lot about the good things, which is great but not a lot on the difficult sides of adoption I'm happy to see it talked about, not just the possibility of depression but the days where it won't be easy. I'm learning so much from your channel thank you.

Thank you so much for making this video and on behalf of the lady who you were in touch with. We are just about to go into intros and the blues have already hit I think because of a combination of all the factors you described. I certainly relate to the feeling of having to be the best of the best and being held to an impossible standard throughout this journey and it's been really hard going feeling like I have to be some kind of super human rather than simply a "good enough" parent. Thanks again and what you're doing for the UK adoption journey cannot be valued highly enough xxx

Thanks so much for the comment! I will pass on your words to my lovely new friend. There isn't enough info out there still, but it's getting better and I'm honoured to be helping in some way :D Good luck as you head on through your journey!

@@Aimeevlog i hope it's not too late because we already spoke to the local judge asking them to stop the adoption procedure.Even though we're aware of a possible problem between me and my wife,right now we're facing pure fear that we're making the biggest mistake of our life by taking the kids with us.Pure fear of being the parents,one day,of two children that might never consider us as real parents

Dario Crocetta I don’t know your circumstances so I’ll start by sending serious love and prayers that even these hard times can have love in them 💚 As adoptive parents it’s so common to feel the need to be perfect (I definitely felt it!) when in actuality, people have ill mental health or more to learn in life or fears etc Providing a loving, secure home for a child/den can look so many different ways; even if it’s not the way you originally thought it might. I hope some clear answers present themselves to you 🙏🏽💚

Hi Aimee do you get offered counselling while going through the adoption process?
@Aimeevlog

Hi Kerry, myself and my husband didn't...but I don't feel we had anything unresolved that needed to be further explored. I would be interested to know if this is something that an agency would offer or if they would expect you to seek counselling and move on with this before pursuing adoption.
