Not quite a tutorial, not quite a review. I just wanted to share my experience with the H&S Infinity CR+; general cleaning and maintenance, troubleshooting tips, and then offer my thoughts on pros and cons to whether this is a good airbrush to "main".
Please note that this is not a sponsored video, I'm merely sharing my experiences with this product.

I use the Infinity and also the Evolution 2 in 1 for years without any problems. I never have to replace any of the O rings and it still works flawless. Love that thing. And great Video for nore information about that airbrush.

I'm learning! I'm still in that awkward "I don't like being on camera" phase but I'm hoping the more I keep doing it the more comfortable I'll keep getting!

What do you think about the wear and tear of tearing down the airbrush? And do you think it is needed after every use or just once in awhile? Thank you.

This is a really useful video thank you! I also have the same airbrush but find sometimes when I release the trigger the air flow does not stop immediately and it seems that the trigger is catching. Have you had a similar experience before?
@JohnathanHo
@JohnathanHo Жыл бұрын
No, but that sounds like you have paint or something that's drying in the air trigger assembly. The H&S airbrushes have very small tolerances for fitment of pieces, so the tiniest debris or gunk will cause parts to stick and not operate smoothly. "Sticking/catching" would indicate that you have debris/gunk in the trigger. (perhaps even in the pin assembly that your air hose connects to).

Yeah I'm having this really strange issue with my Infinity where I'm getting backlog despite the nozzle being tightened up, the air channel is clear so I'm kind of trouble shooting it, all the o rings and seals are fine. The strangest thing is that slightly loosening the nozzle allows some air to come through, but it still is blasting out of the cup and the air pressure is weak.

Can a ultrasonic cleaner be used to clean the airbrush, or would that prematurely ware out the o-rings?
@JohnathanHo
@JohnathanHo Жыл бұрын
I don't imagine it would damage the o-rings/seals, but that all depends on what liquid you use to clean (if you use just water, or water and dish soap, you're fine). I would not soak an airbrush in an ultrasonic cleaner using Isopropyl Alcohol, for example, unless I removed all the plastic and rubber bits first,.

Really handy video! I recently bought one of these and my main gripe is that it feel inconsistent in how far back I have to pull the trigger to get paint to flow. Is it just me or is it the brush? (Probably me).
@JohnathanHo
@JohnathanHo Жыл бұрын
It could be any number of things. Without knowing your setup: 1. Inconsistent PSI could be a result of not having a tank on your compressor. If it's just a straight compressor running, then as you hold the trigger your PSI will dip and waver because there's no "pool" of compressed air to draw from. 2. You might have a clog somewhere that's impacting air or paint flow in your airbrush 3. Maybe there's a leak or puncture in your hose? 4. Your paint mix may be too thick and require more dilution 5. Have you tried turning it off and on again?

At 2:35 What’s the tool used to remove the o-ring in the inside? Do you happen to know the part number so that I can order the right one?

It's part of the Harder & Steenbeck "Airbrush Service cleaning & maintenance Kit". Amazon and spraygunner have it in stock. Can't buy it on it's own sadly ☹

@@JohnathanHo Just picked up the kit yesterday after watching this video! Took a few moments of searching but my google-fu was strong and I was able to figure out that tool only came in the kit 😉 All the other stuff is great too so it's really worth the money.

@@JohnathanHo Do you ever recommend using a lubricating oil on any of the parts after such a thorough cleaning?

I'm using the Evolution 2 in 1 without any problems, works like a charm with both nozzles (0.4 and 0.6), but I can't handle the Infinity 2 in 1. I got the 0.15 and 0.4 nozzles. The 0.4 is ok, but the 0.15 either clogs up all the time and I mean ALL the time, or it shoots waaaaaay too thin paint out thats basically colored water. I can't get the paint mixture and/ or air pressure right with this thing, which is really a shame, since I specifically bought it for fine details, such as highlights, shadings, weathering, small parts, camouflage pattersn etc. Can't handle it and hate this airbrush.
@JohnathanHo
@JohnathanHo Жыл бұрын
You're not the only one; the 0.15 was notorious for clogging, even with their v2 nozzles it's still not great. I highly recommend picking up the v2 0.2 needle and nozzle; which has significantly less clogging issues than the 0.15 without sacrificing too much accuracy/detail (although you'll still need to dilute more than with the 0.4.

Way overkill. I have my Infinity for over 10 years, and have never had to replace anything. Maybe you take it apart too often. You use a quick release to streamline the workflow, but you rip it down to the O-rings after every use? And what help is a quick release anyway, if it's the only brush you use? Makes no sense. I'm detecting a bit of OCD here.👀
