Watching you working the foil onto the model's surface is fascinating and I find it soothing. I am intrigued as to the glue layer. Is it on the foil, or the plastic? And what kind of adhesive allows such working time, allowing for the stretching and compound curves etcetera. This is truly amazing. Thanks for putting it out to us. Nick.

Hi Nicholas, I have put a link in the description to the foil glue and a how to video on how I do this step by step. I tend to put the glue on the model now but the technique is the same. I have done quite a few other foiling videos so please check them out when you have time ( they are rather long) thanks for watching

Rivets: Early Spit Mk IX were actually converted MkVs so had some raised (dome head) rivets on the fuselage. Later production Mk IX were all flush.

@@RichardsModellingAdventures Jeffrey Quill was a test pilot, wrote a fascinating book about his time with the Spitfire, including their testing of various rivets on the fuselage for aero efficiency. Sounds nerdy, but it isn't, a great read.

Did Spitfires have 'oil canning' on the skin? Many stressed skin WW2 planes seemed to have it.

For sure. Some worse than others. Some of the panel fit was rather poor too. The kit is too good in this respect. I'll show some images on the next video.

Richard, after seeing your Cricut I purchased one for myself. Will it work on artist's Friskit paper? And what type of cutting mat do you personally use? Thanks Rhys

@@M.Parsons-p1y I use the green Cricut mats. Amazon sell them in packs if 3. Or tried frisked but the list of options in the software is quite extensive. You need to experiment 👍😀

I can imagine it was a while before you calmed down enough to make this video. The work you put into those flaps only to have them ruined is horrible. In hindsight i guess they were best leaving as one of the last jobs after the rest was done but easy for me to say. Good for you to carry on. It will be worth it.

Thanks Ricado. It worked out OK in the end as I ant looking forward to the rest of the flap build as they re very fragile and difficult to work with
