Hii! It is my dream to become a pilot. I hold my student license right now and am building hours. Glad I found you! Great 1st vlog, nice work! I like the replay of the flight path, haven’t seen that on other pilot vlogs. ?: what happens if you can’t make any of the commuter flights to base (cancelled, mechanical, etc)? Do they allow you X # of missed trips?
@pilotpetefly
@pilotpetefly Жыл бұрын
Thanks! We have a commuter clause in place. But if you miss the flight you’re supposed to operate you’d get removed, without pay. As long as you follow the commuter policy, there would be no repercussions.

Great video bro! Could you tell me more about pilots transitioning from short haul to long haul flights. What has to happen before a pilot can make that transition. Thanks!
@pilotpetefly
@pilotpetefly Жыл бұрын
Thanks, appreciate that! Not much really needs to happen. 1. You have to be assigned on an airplane that can go long haul, i.e. b777, a350, b767, etc 2. Get a long haul trip! 3. If you’re crossing an ocean, you’ll have to get ETOPS certified 4. There are augmented crew and rest rules that apply for flights over 8 hours Hope that answers some of your questions.

Question more about jobs at a specific airline. If you were to switch to fly a different plane at your same Airline company, do you start back as a Year 1 FO or does your seniority transfer between planes at the same company?
@pilotpetefly
@pilotpetefly Жыл бұрын
No, your seniority stays with. If you change airplane or base, you’re seniority stays the same. So if in your 3rd year you went from the 737 to the 777, you would be 3rd year pay FO on the 777 and bid ahead of anyone junior to you on that airplane.

Does Approach allow you to do VNAV STAR approach? Or do they deviate the standard VNAV/RNAV a lot?
@pilotpetefly
@pilotpetefly Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Depends on the airport. LAX, they will almost always clear you for a VNAV STAR directly into an approach about 80 miles from the airport. Other airports, you’re getting vectored off the STAR to get to the airport

You mentioned the VP landing at BOS as if it was a surprise, was this not listed on the daily NOTAMS? Could you explain (what they are and) how you check them and take this into account in your flight planning, do you do this or is it your flight planning people? Thank you from the UK
@pilotpetefly

Hi pete, Nasa experts expect that there will be no co pilots by 2040 and it will be replaced by high tech AI. Do pilots get access to special lounges? And do all pilots have that same black carry on bag? Haha, genuine question because I noticed it’s the same.

We have crew rooms for pilots. They are company specific. Haha we definitely use a similar roller bags, but all different companies

Great vlog! Keep it up! Can you talk a little about your journey that landed you this freight job and how competitive the freight jobs are vs passenger jobs?
@pilotpetefly
@pilotpetefly Жыл бұрын
I talk about my journey in one of my first videos “Becoming a Pilot”. I flew corporate, major airline, legacy pass, then legacy cargo airline. As far as competitive, id say they are all equally competitive to get jobs at. The thing with legacy pax vs. cargo would be that there are less pilots at my cargo company, so based on just numbers you could argue that the cargo is “more competitive”.

@@pilotpetefly good to know. I Remember at flight attendant training, which was awful, they gave us nothing and then slapped us with "gotta know the location of equipment" last minute and like 3 different airplanes was tough. I am glad I didn't go through FA training but still wonder why they made us watch a documentary on TWA 700. Oh and fist fights and assaults were common when I was there

Last year a few days before Christmas I had covid and didn't know - to cut a long story short in my sleep I felt my heart beating as if it were going to stop suddenly and as my brain and body came around to try and wake me up - I felt the Gentle Yet Firery love and presence of God cover me - at that moment I didn't even think about my family I just knew if I died right then I was ready and willing to go because I knew where I would be. God did that not me, not my works not my good behavior. HE DID that by Promise. He assured everyone who chose to believe in His Son JESUS The Christ - Salvation and Eternal Life - The Complete Forgiveness, Removal of Sins and Right Standing With Himself (GOD). All of this is available to Anyone who CHOOSES to Believe and Call on His Name (JESUS). Where would you go if something were to happen to you suddenly? JESUS EXPLICITLY SAID that He is The ONLY Way to the Father (God) and that there is no other...I know what I tell you is the Truth because I experienced it, I'm not alone in this as there is a number which I cannot number of witnesses who can confirm this and have also experienced it..... when a person dies they go to face God either Justified (Forgiven, Washed, Blameless, Innocent, Righteous - in Right Standing) with Him by The Shed Blood of His Son Jesus when He sacrificed Himself for ALL Humanity or Having to answer for every Sin They've ever committed in this Life - those you know and those you didn't think were sins... You've seen this and have a responsibility as a Human being make sure you KNOW where you stand with God, Forgiven or Guilty. The Way to Him is JESUS The Christ, You must Call on Him - He is Our Redemption. I made my decision. You Have yours to make too. I'm not a Bot....
