It's kinda funny how at first I thought I broke my piston when the second to last tooth that connects to the sector gear broke off but now I realize it's just the first step to upgrading the performance of the piston that just happened by chance

I think the ones i use are about 5mm thick. If you buy sorbo from an airsoft site that has already been cut it will usually do, I use a small piece of rubber (as shown in the videos) on top of the sorbo to make any small adjustments. Remember that the piston needs to engage the gears at the 12 o'clock position, use enough sorbo to push the piston back to this position. Hope that helps. AT

Decrease in fps, as the piston is held further back than it would be normally meaning that there is less distance for the piston to travel thus less air being pushed out of the cylinder.

I have just started watching GB tutorials but why do you correct the AoE? Is it to prevent a worn out piston or is your gun/feed malfunctioning? The reason why i ask is that i'm looking for a way to decrease FPS without changing my already low M90 spring. If it's just for finetuning i would do this.

Great video! But, I didn't understand why move to step 6 and others. Seems like your piston gear and main gear are properly engaged on a good angle I mean, if you only remove the 2 pins from the piston, is it necessary the next step? why?

What width SORBO pads are you using? how do you determine what width to use???

In the US: Clandestine airsoft do them, scatterplot I think is the make. In the UK: Air-lab airsoft do them, they are well made and have a plastic buffer pre attached to them.

Yea I knew it was the one you cut but that spring will lose some length overtime and it is less length than the gearbox.

Isn't the spring on backwards? I know it's proven that it doesn't affect fps, but no tests were made for motor stress.

Doesn't doing this decrease FPS? Spring spacers can be used to fix that problem if you didn't know.

I NEED some assistance/advise putting in an M170 spring. Me, my dad, and my buddy all working together trying to shove the spring in (just a few inches) to the gearbox can't get it in. Should I cut a few of the coils or not since this is a DSG build? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

every time u cut the spring to shorten it, the spring will go down in power, eg. it turns into a m160/m150/m140 spring the more u cut it so u might just wana use those springs, but to get a m170 in, is suggest using a vise and a nice grippy screwdriver in the end of the house rod as u install it like the vid, or knot the spring using a silky ribbon u can untie and pull out the gap in ur gearbox after its clamped shut

+Mohammed Moinuddin Not necessary, the KWA m120 spring short but gives 410 FPS while the Guarder SP100 longer but give you 340~350 FPS

CptBeardo: No it actually decreases pressure to single teeth. Angle of engagement in stock AEG's are rarely correct. Correct angle of engagement means that the first tooth of the sector gear hits flush with the back tooth of the piston. But in stock AEG's it rarely hits flush but at a bad angle (where just the corner of the sector gear tooth hits the back tooth of the piston). This means LESS surface area takes the brunt of the pressure involved. Meaning increased risk of sector gear teeth breaking. With correct angle of engagement however, there is a bigger surface area of the first tooth absorbing the impact. Meaning a decreased risk of sector gear teeth failing.

Isnt in the market a "multiple lenght" piston head to achieve perfect AOE just moving a screw? Nobody invented this?

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone 3d printing some spacers to go between the piston head and the piston body - Fairly easy to make your own, but some properly measured and cut ones would sell for sure I imagine

These are being sold by multiple vendors. FPSairsoft makes some nylon spacers. I used them and they work perfectly and i don't have to mess with 2 litres of glue and a thick ass lump of rubber.
