A plane can run out of fuel. This is what happened to an Airbus A330 of the Canadian company Air Transat, on the night of August 23 to 24, 2001.

For the crew of flight AT236, the situation initially seemed unmanageable, especially with a plane flying over the ocean off the coast of Portugal. With no engines running, there is no other option than a glide landing, a procedure with minimal chances of success. However, the pilots managed to land the Airbus without incident. A look back at this mishap which could have gone very wrong.
