Also AJ, you put emphasis on always having a double pivot in our midfield in all phases of our play, be it while playing out from the back or our basic rest defence structure. How can we achieve that. By playing 2 CDMs like Rice and Phillips played for England, or inverting Dalot in midfield which we did with great effect against Villa or pushing up our CB, like Stones for Man City (surely Licha can do this). Edit - This could be a very interesting topic for a new tactical video. Would love to see your pov on this!! "3 ways to create a double pivot"!

It’s actually a simple answer , all the structures we are plyIng at the moment are a double pivot, its either CASIMERO ,DALOT or MAINOO or BRUNO , the personal rotates but not the structure

Man Utd should try to sign Boubacar Kamara or Manuel Ugarte. We need someone who can play alongside Mainoo knowing that Kobbie is more an 8.

The Joao Neves, Andre, Onana and now Ederson links give me the feeling United are not entirely sure on the profile of partner for Mainoo. Ball carrying is the one trait they are looking for, but they don't seem to have agreed on the physical profile and how that profile interacts with the likes of Mount and Eriksen

Mainoo is a ball carrier. He's basically a 6/8 hybrid

Mount can fit this role of a box to box midfielder who is good at pressing, fairly creative and a workhorse. The problem is we don't want a player who can fit in this role, but a player who is made for this role. We need a physical monster in the BBM role. It doesn't matter if he isn't that elegant on the ball or doesn't have those deep lying playmaker qualities. The reason was ETH is hesitant to play 2 proper pivots like Case-Amrabat or Mainoo-Case is that it only leaves Bruno as the sole attacking threat in midfield. So, that's why he picks McTominay. In the early games of the season, we played Casemiro as the sole holding midfielder with Mount and Bruno, and that turned to be very very open. So it is clearly evident that we need a midpoint, who is good in both the boxes and provides that crucial link.

Amad should have been a first team starter if not for ten Hag's nepotistic love for Antony. That's not Atalanta's fault. Buying Hojlund for 70m without waiting for him to run down his contract is not his fault either.

ETH did really well last season with Casemiro as the anchor but this is far from what he wants and how he wants to play. We wanted De Jong and only got Casemiro in what was another panic buy. I can't imagine 2 players occupying the same position on the pitch having so much contrasting skillsets and accordingly roles to each other!! What we really need is a tenacious and physical monster in midfield. We have Case, Amrabat and McTominay who are physical but they aren't that technical or quick. We badly need a box to box midfielder, a trrue BBM!! For eg the roles which the likes of Barella, Fede Valverde, Szoboszlai, Gallagher play for their respective clubs.

Yes, we are missing a natural box to box, and i'd like a young number 6 maybe kobbie can be that 8 because he has the playmaking, but i'd like a young rash 6

@@Bochop1 Yes, Kobbie has great potential but that no. 8 role also needs good ball carrying abilities. We haven't seen that much from Kobbie yet but there are very few things outside his potential👍. Let's hope Mount can fill that no. 8 role. He has the required skillset except the physicality part.

He is good but he is squad player. How many squad players will we sign. We need players that will bring us closer to challenging for the titles.

we have no squad players. we start evans at lb in 2023, n i pray not in 2024. our right flank is shambolic rn. we can't find a consistent pivot pairing. 3-5 injuries n our squad depth easily runs thin. all of our blockbuster moves flop, because we have no squad players. we need more players who will play to bring glory to da team, n not for themselves. we have enough of those, and they bring us results when we have a squad that is aggressive n progressive. once we have squad players who could win and progress the ball throughout the pitch consistently, we can get the ball to our star players in dangerous areas. if they cant finish, then we'll cross that bridge when we are actually there. those squad players will become players who will bring us back to title contention.

Useless. Not at all what United needs. We’d basically be buying another mason mount. We need ball playing cbs, a dm and a striker. Someone to give Hojlund competition or bring something new
