If I know the character's REAL NAME, chances are I know his career and backstory. Of course he's a badass irl. But technically so is Ed O'Neill. The man is a practitioner of Brazilian Jujitsu. But we're being entertained in the Bundy universe. Hince Al Bundy has superior plot armor. Hince the joke.

To Randall Cobb? The man was one of the nastiest brawlers in the history of boxing and his ability to take punches is legendary. Hed have eaten Bundy and picked his teeth with the bones.

@@michaellarocca4879 If they had a real competitive fight then it sounds like it would come down to whether they went to the ground or stayed standing. I'm sure his standing game was far better but if you go to the ground with a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and you don't have a lot of grappling experience then you're done. It's like drowning. Everything you do to improve your state actually makes it worse until you die.

@@michaellarocca4879 Ed O'Neill used to get into a lot of fights in his early adulthood. He even once fought an undercover cop at a bar (who he became friends with after his arrest). There is a bit of Ed O'Neill in the Al Bundy character. Granted, he is no professional boxer, Ed might have been able to hold his own against a retired Randall Cobb around the time that they were filming this episode.

Cobb routinely admitted that he wasnt that great of a boxer and his style hinged on letting his opponent tire themselves out on his face while dishing out power punches. Oneill simply couldnt put enough weight behind a punch to do much damage.

@@michaellarocca4879 Yeah, at least they were both in character. Ed O'Neill was playing Al Bundy, the ultimate brawler, while Randall 'Tex' Cobb was playing a petty thief with a glass jaw. Cobb still had his size here, but Ed O'Neill measured up quite well next to him, so a knockout blow from Al still looked believable.
