I also keep my spices in glass containers but much smaller then you do as I’m alone but I love to cook for others, I like to see my spices plus it’s so easy to take out the measured amount you need, I would love to have your kitchen set up but when you rent you are limited to what you can do so everyone needs to figure out how best they can display and organize, I find it oddly satisfying to watch this type of content lol

I have done the same rodeo with my spices. I went to an open countertop spice rack with glass jars and the trendy little labels. That cleared up two cabinet shelves! I tossed a good many spices due to old age! I still have lazy Susan’s on those shelves for oddities and overflow. So thankful that you are back in the swing of things and can tackle such large tasks. Until our next visit, ❤️Momma G

I have the same set-up with my spices after years of shoving them into the cupboards. I find that I use them a whole lot more now that they are really handy, and I'm much more adventurous with them! I also have those turntables on my shelves for the rest.

@@anetzband1383 I have even gone so far as to use two turn tables on my countertop near the stovetop. One is for the pretty glass bottles that hold different oils and vinegars. They were often dying a quiet old age in a cupboard. Now I am refilling them often! The other turntable holds containers/jars of fancy salts. Nothing like black truffle salt sprinkled over scrambled eggs!! Have a great weekend.

I have to finish getting ready to go on a Senior shopping trip. I may have to finish after I get back. We washed walls down with our wood burning stove. It was in the basement. We started up stairs in the bedrooms as my wall to the west side of the home sweat leaving orange-ish streaks down the wall. The mantle, window ledges all had a black dust to wipe off like you had on top shelf in your kitchen. Every wall, pictures, knick knack, chandelier, light shades, curtains, drapes, blinds, everything was cleaned. It was a job!

I love working watching your videos, this time I worked on a blue tatted bookmark . I reorganised my whole kitchen in décember, keeping space for some copycat spice mixes I can not get in France. I would like to have a larger kitchen but I deal with the one I have. On a daily basis I use the "fly" method, 15 mn every day after the washing up to keep my kitchen clean . You look so much better ! Be blessed

I watched the video as always and so enjoy them. I don’t say much only here or there and all night I just kept thinking about this video so here I am again! I could feel the gratefulness you were expressing without a full blown sob. We don’t have a homestead but we have a tiny place in the big pines that has been established for over 30 years. My kitchen is the heart of our home as was my moms and her moms. In fact I was at my 80 year old aunts house and until we were helping her pack up I had never been past the kitchen or bathroom because we all gathered there! I just felt to tell you your doing wonderful, even in sickness and (accident) 🤭your still such a beautiful witness to all who cross your path. I have 4 autoimmune disorders that I fight daily. This morning I was grateful to be woke up to face another day. I made a peach cobbler this morning and as the wood cookstove was stocked I could not help but raise my voice of thanks to the Lord for all that He has provided in this day already. Again thank you for sharing even though you can’t see or hear you are reaching many 💕

Love the jars with labels. Getting ready to clean out my spice cabinet and make sure nothing has sugar in them. I am a diabetic and never realized that some spice mixtures have sugar. We downsized to an RV a couple of years ago so I don't have the storage space for large amounts. I bought the small jars so I can start cleaning. Enjoyed this video. Oh, and the dogs playing outside was just so fun to watch.

I liked making my roast in a crock pot on low. I use a envelope of lipton onion soup mixed with a can of cream of mushroom soup undiluted. Spread over roast. I also put my carrots potatoes & onion in with roast on top. It makes its own gravy. You can add 1/2-1 cup water down sides. The other version I do - carrots potatoes onion in, Roast on top. Pour 1 can og Progresso tomato with basil soup over top. On low 8 hrs for both roast recipes. Have a good day. Van is running late. But I finished hanging out with you before going. hugs.

Good evening, my friend, It is now 7:35 PM, and I just finished watching your vlog. Very interesting. It tickles me, as I have a cabinet with my spices all in canning jars, but not nearly as neat as yours. Where did you get the labels that you attached to the jars? I just used recipe cards, cut them in half, and wrote on them. Golly, yours are so "pretty". I do keep mine in a closed cabinet, but it is only about 4 steps away from my cooking and baking surfaces, so no biggie when I need something. I do have to organize my cupboards......that will be done when spring hits! My priority now, is working on my clothes, doing the Goodwill thing. I just cannot stand too long, as my leg is quite uncomfortable, but I want to get as much done now, before my surgery, as it will put me on the sidelines for awhile. YOur kitchen and pantry area looks awesome, and thanks so much for sharing it with us.......Hugs, Bev in Maine

I am Hispanic, so we kind of use a house blend on a daily basis ,you know that Mexica…n House, oregano, paprika, garlic, and whatever else Camino, whatever else you want to put, but I do keep the garlic powder onion powder Lemon pepper things like that on the side but for every day use, I use a Hispanic House blend..,that has a little bit of everything I even make it myself and put it in a very large mason jar as well half gallon and then use a smaller one next to my stove.

Loving this video!!! The way you have your shelves set up is the way I'd like my own. Hubby and I are going to be building a container home this year, and I've been gaining inspiration from different sources, but your kitchen rocks! Let your daughter know that George Brown College in Toronto Canada has an excellent culinary program. Several years ago we took a tour with our youngest daughter, this is where she wanted to go to school. She never made it that far (she passed away before she had a chance to apply) but we recommend it to everyone who wants a culinary education.

Jar's are low. I put my order in on more half gallon jars. I have 69 full of dry everything I've done and two moisture packs in each it's needed or my hard work is garbage. I'm in Oregon and my weather changes all the time so ya I have been trapped on my land for five months yep no power also a mess with power lines. But thankfully for my saving of garden food's. Any how ball and jar company are still having problems so order your's now.

I have had to split the video to watch it all. first a power outage then couple hours later the internet was out. so I think I remember you saying you make the jalapeno salt? How do you make it? I get lots of peppers in our garden every summer and would love to make the salt this summer. The kitchen looks great! and got me to wiping mine down really well today too.

where did you get your labels for your spice jars? They are beautiful! It is so nice that Aaron is helping you out. My hubby used to help me bunches. He passed 6 years ago, and I miss that. My grandgirls help me now when they are around. They are 10 and under, so they love to help grandma!

Yes! Love refilling my 'in the kitchen' stuff 😄👍🏻 I use small glas bottles (Crodino, don't know if you know that?) that have straight sides, just like your jars. So they fit perfectly in my kitchen cabinets. Those cabinets have glas doors. So everything is visible, and still protected from dust and grease 😊. And just like you, I have one section for (savoury) cooking and one for (sweet) baking. Odd to see just a small jar of dill in your baking section 😄 That I use a ton of! And why is your yeast with the spices on the right and not with the baking on the left? No criticism, I just would like to understand your thought process on that. Oh and by the way: yes, do try to get whole nutmeg and grate it yourself. Makes such a difference! I buy most of my spices whole. Koriander, cumin, caraway seeds, fennel, pepper I often use whole in currys. And grind them myself to have also ground at hand. Better taste and more economical too Lots of love from Purmerend Holland 🇳🇱

Lol on the yeast. I don’t know why........ now you have me thinking. I end up putting things where I look for them. I just have always had it near the salt..... see now I’m realizing why I do it like that. Yeast salt flour water make bread. So I guess I look for it by the salt. That’s the best I could come up with lol.

In your intro you say three of your children, does that mean you have more? I just assumed you only had the three, I just don’t want to miss anything because like I said in a different comment that I just recently found your channel when that tree “attacked” you, I love your home it looks so warm and cosy!

Hi! Is organic spices what you would suggest to buy and what are your top 15 apices that you buy? Do you have a code with Azure I could use?
@modernhomesteadalaska
@modernhomesteadalaska Жыл бұрын
Great questions. www.azurestandard.com/start Use that link and code Jessicamilnes1 My top personal spices after salt and pepper, Garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, cinnamon, Italian blend if you don’t want todo all the spices, red pepper flakes, mustard, ginger, pumpkin pie if you don’t want todo cloves, allspice, nutmeg…… I’m trying to think. I hope that helps.
