Young exotic dancers end up missing and murdered after being preyed upon by an Alaskan Serial Killer. One victim manages to escape and informs the police. Working with the FBI to create a behavioural profile of the serial killer, officers look for evidence to link the killer, identified as Robert Hansen, to the mass murders. The 2013 film 'The Frozen Ground', starring Nicholas Cage, is based on this case.
The FBI Files is an American television docudrama series. Each episode describes actual FBI cases which include murder, narcotics, bank robberies, and kidnapping as well as other crimes. These are portrayed through dramatic reenactments and interviews with agents and forensic scientists who worked on the investigations.

 You mean the police reports and her documented statements that were “investigated “ yet disputed are a storyline? This story is very well told based on the facts and her original statements. Baker did follow through investigation BASED.on her statements. He laid aside bias and found evidence to back it up instead of disprove it. This story has been well documented by the FBI. Douglas was an original Mindhunter.

We know what they look like- we report them. It doesn't matter if they're well-dressed or not. I know a guy who represents himself as a landlord, on land he doesn't even own- who traps women, takes everything they own, assaults them, he goes after the most vulnerable, he just took down and disabled woman in the cops protected him. He is the shortest creepiest little man with brown teeth He's well known for ripping people off and the police protect him. They threaten people who try to file charges on him That would be in Kenai Alaska In civilization, right here among liberals and feminazis. Alaska is not a red state. Although it appears to be. But every Republican is a RINO anyway - Republican in name only. I'm not taking sides - I don't do politics anymore, my point is - there's no other side of the aisle anymore. We live under a one party for profit system. The opponents will appear to battle it out in public and on the media to satisfy voters - but behind closed doors they're working together hand in hand, taking us all down for their personal profit. It still blows my mind that we have the term "career politician" in this country. That's about the time we got stuck - when voters started accepting "career politicians" I think George Washington would be rolling in his grave

That's true, of course! But it is not possible to profile people who are (were) serial murderers in many cases, like Ted Bundy, the BTK killer and many others, as they are often hiding in plain sight by being able to blend in with the mass. But on the contrary, for the case of Robert Hansen as the serial murder, the 'abnormal' guy is clearly evident.

@@iwant2usethis the training is there, they're being trained to ignore these cases. Political expediency - take a look at what crime rates do to your local tax base. law enforcement serves and protects - your local politicians, businesses. The citizens they're supposed to protect simply pay the bill and fend for ourselves As I've said in another comment - if someone shoplifts a bicycle from walmart, there will be a police report, follow up and probably prosecution If you catch someone stealing your kid's bike on your home surveillance camera - they're not going to take a report, most likely they'll send you to civil court That's how it works now. We're paying to protect politicians and big business And I say big business because look at what happened during the riots - all those family businesses, mom and pop stores destroyed and closed down Walfarts is thrilled the protests eliminated there competition

Reminds me of the Gabby Petito case. She was threatened with being arrested but witnesses clearly reported seeing him hitting her. This is what is so scary about some Serial Killers, they come across as so normal. We hear all the time when they get caught, how their neighbours say he was so helpful, so nice would do anything to help his community. Just look at John Wayne Gacy, who dressed up as a clown and did lots of charity work. Ted Bundy, another prolific Serial Killer, who I found was really scary, as I would have helped him with his bad arm, to get something in his car. They are sheep in wolf's clothing who are master manipulators who could sell snow to the Eskimos.

If you ever come to alaska, just throw out all logic, reasoning, laws do not apply here they don't apply in most places because of "prosecutorial discretion" And please know, there are no protectors or providers in Alaska - they are the lower 48 rejects. Boys, no men. Alaska has the highest per capita of eating ice cream, and the highest watching porn! That's who lives here How are they getting away with it? Because you've got criminals watching over criminals. Many Alaska State troopers and local police have criminal records themselves. But even they can't be everywhere - it's mostly the pathetic boys up here. They know what goes on, but they're mostly all sexual predators cuz that's the culture up here. They don't care... They'd stand there and watch their own grandmother get raped up here in Alaska. And then tell her it didn't happen.

At least nowadays, the FBI know many serial killers are usually married and have at least 1 child since many who were caught, were married. I remember crime documentaries in the 80s always depicted them to be loners, worked jobs that didn't interact with people, weren't close to family, etc etc. Boy were profiles way off back then. At least now they know not to go for loners. The loners are sadly..the ones that do mass shooting sprees. Serial killers are unfortunately too plenty in this world, so I'm glad DNA and forensic science are so incredible now. Good job on the one determined officer in this story. All it takes is one super cop to crack a case. 👍

Why ... WHY ... WHY do we not have a Death Penalty for this kind? WHY do we ban "cruel & unusual punishments" for this kind? If they are not guilty, they should be let go immediately, and the overzealous prosecutors, lying police officers, or false witnesses be placed in their stead. If they ARE GUILTY, there should be NO deals and NO mercy afforded them. Their crimes should be published and their punishments should be public and without remorse.

Maybe because innocent people get convicted of crimes, and it's often not discovered that they were innocent until years later, if at all. Or maybe it's because if it's wrong for them to kill people it's also wrong for us to do it as a society, and that by killing them we become no better than them. Maybe we shouldn't be hypocritical about whether it's okay to kill people. Or maybe it's just a bad idea for governments to have the right to kill their own citizens, under any circumstances, because such power can be misused. Take your pick.

I've done time in Alaska, and he's got nothing to worry about. Prisoners are quite safe in prison; they've only ever had one murder in their prison system. I know it seems like he's getting off easy, but that's really not the case. He'll be locked in a cage within a cage, within a cage for the rest of his days. The important thing is he has been removed from society. The death penalty is one more power the state should have over anyone. Think about how corrupt our government is, and ask if we really want the state, at any echelon, to have such power. Just so we're clear, I'm not a bleeding-heart leftist; all humans have the right to defend their lives by any means necessary. I own a lot of guns, and served in the Army in OIF. I've seen how the government works.

@Pushing_Pixels

The same reason she told the driver who picked her up to take her to the motel instead of a police station. People on the margins of society learn not to trust police, because those same police are often looking to put them in jail. They don't expect the police to actually help them. She probably declined because she thought if the test went badly, she could be charged for making a false statement. This was in the 1970's, and it was even more the case back then than today.
