Two cops are murdered in their patrol cars in Washington D.C. With the cop killer on the loose, police turn to the FBI to help catch the killer. The FBI's manhunt after the wanted cop killer would eventually lead to a violent shootout.
The FBI Files is an American television docudrama series. Each episode describes actual FBI cases which include murder, narcotics, bank robberies, and kidnapping as well as other crimes. These are portrayed through dramatic reenactments and interviews with agents and forensic scientists who worked on the investigations.

When I was 7, over two decades ago, while during a road trip I saw this episode on TV @ the hotel. What stuck out most to me was the shootout scene @ the end. Everything seemed so real & opened my eyes. Since then I've always been obsessed w these real crime series, crime shows, criminal justice etc.

I remember seeing stuff like this before and thinking; "if I ever have to do a stake out like this I'll get out and stand in a dark corner or bush with my gun loaded and ready" These days you could easily set up a few cameras and just hide out nearby. also this part is hilarious => 20:53 "also a manual for a MAC-11 ASSAULT WEAPON"

The suspect DELIBERATELY kept changing the meeting place so HE would have home turf advantage as he'd ALREADY selected a meeting place. He KNOWS where they're going to park to surveil/ grab him SOOOO he can select his position to surveil/ shoot them WITH a get away route.. LOTS of LESSONS HERE 1. This guy reads books ON TACTICS...So be prepared to cover any and all flanks. 2. IF every news station and news paper within 300 miles of DC would have put his picture on the front page hed be caught/ dead within an hour. FACT...Look how fast it worked catching Richard ramirez? He wasn't off the greyhound bus 10 minutes and he was swarmed and apprehended. 3. To NOT let ALL the other cops get a photo of him, within several hundred l Miles is INSANE. I thought FOR SURE, THIS HIGHWAY PATROLMAN WHO GIVE HIM A TICKET WAS GONNA DIE...HE DIDNT KNOW THIS SCREWBALL. I just couldn't believe how close he came to buying it. AND , LIKE Who says " my drivers license is in the trunk"...? Unreal You KNOW this guys a cop killer so just might wanna get on the same FN PAGE.. God Bless the victims and their family's..

Honestly I don't know that it would have helped. The guy saw the agent identify himself to the policeman that came to investigate his vehicle -- the patrolman's accidental involvement would have ruined the cover no matter what, and moreover, the killer got to within very close range of the agent he surprised; the disguise wouldn't have fooled him at that distance.

Watching this video and watching in the end how the officers positioned themselves observing the gass station I immediately thought that the cop killer was too smart and that he would at least take one of them out sneaking up from behind. The risk was too high that he expected the police to be there observing the gass station. Unfortunately it happened just like I thought. I could not believe how reckless these experienced cops acted.

Because in the reenactment they have to show some light on the car. But in reality it’s pitch dark. You can hear but you can’t see.

Same second they were revealed in stake out they should cancel whole action.... rotation lights are designed to be seen, they knew he was in area....... and those lights had lighten whole area. Plus they were freaking FBI WHY THEY DID NOT HAD NIGHT VISION.... I am glad that guy was put down but with all respect to officers they really executed really poor action. Also second when they located him..... WHERE WERE HELICOPTER SEARCH LIGHTS???

BillyChristian had been less cautious when he heard a noise from out for the second time . He did not feel something dubious was around. His inner sense failed to warn him and that was his end. Many a time nature fails to warn a person who has to be dead next. Had he been warned even at that last moment he could have steered his vehicle a litle forward that he might have escaped too many bullets and would not have been dead.

For some, securing 'civil rights' is interpreted as the right to totally disregard the law. Overall, black Americans are arrested at 2.6 times the per-capita rate of all other Americans, and this ratio is even higher for murder (6.3 times) and robbery (8.1 times). Thus there is a very strong case for not granting firearms certificates to any black Americans other than police officers.

What a tragedy the last officer did not believe his ears, ... realize his position had been compromised ... and gotten out of there. Perhaps a deadly case of tunnel vision. Would have been nice to know what set the killer off; but since drugs was part of the picture ... it's surely suspect.

ever consider the possibility that the guy who shot him had concealed himself well enough that cop didnt see him? the killer wasnt exactly rushing and being sloppy when he approached the car. he was obviously taking advantage of a blind spot. all vehicles have them.

@@michaelpcooksey5096 yeah. kinda makes one wonder if the killer had actually seen the patrol car pull into position and simply waited until he had an opportunity to strike. seems like he planned his approach very carefully since he was doing a slow low-crawl with several pauses in between.

@@michaelpcooksey5096well I’m not pointing fingers but a possibility could be that he had a grudge against them for a priori incident, police back in the days form the beginning of law enforcement to just about now police officers have been racist and Brutality was very common back then. I’m not saying every cop is bad or out to kill a black man, hell the first cop he Shot at was black and the one he shot 4 times was also. But besides that, he was most likely a victim of such or something in that spectrum. And also even if a police officer was black they were often demonize but they were also known for being almost as bad as the white police officers. Give some accounts. Point is the most LIKELY reason was probably a priori incident with the police and most likely it was a case of holding a grudge or police brutality
